I was initially only going to buy Interstellar, but also bought Fleur Fantasia. The first one swatched meh for me (it looked like a glittery mess), but has worked very well in application. Fleur swatched well (and applies well), but it duplicates the vibe of what I already have in the Divine Rose 1 and 2 palettes. I probably shouldn’t have bought it on impulse!
Huetopia really surprised me in person, I can see a very pretty slight pink shift that I didn’t see in any of the swatches I saw prior to purchasing. Lavender Blue and Iridescent Orchid are also so much more dimensional and unique in person and look much different than, again, all of the swatches I was able to see. Fleur Fantasia is my first PMG eyeshadow purchase because I just couldn’t believe the hype and I know this quad was the one everyone seemed the least excited about but… I am blown away. I don’t think the matte shade is any better than mattes I have from indie brands and I wouldn’t say the others are better than metallic/glitter/shimmer shades I have from indie brands but they are shockingly unique in formula and overall appearance. The base color and shift in Iridescent Orchid is crazy and there are very tiny actual glitters in it in a couple different colors I can identify. I am very glad I bought this quad.
Hi Brian, Fleur Fantasia is also my first purchase from PMG and boy am I so glad I waited!! PMG’s tones are usually too deep or the bigger palettes would have shades I have somewhere else, so couldn’t really justify buying it just for the few special shades. Last year’s quads colour story weren’t really up my alley, although they were all special shades. But I am happy enough that I can use Huetopia and Lotus Paradise as highlight/blushes, to get more use out of it despite it not being the special shades 🙂
I really agree with your impressions! Iridescent Orchid could have had a better binder so that it would adhere better, but it’s such a beautiful shade to me. I didn’t expect the lovely pinkish shift with Huetopia! Makes it a perfect highlighter, inner corner, browbone highlight for me on pink-purple looks.
I’m so happy that you did *finally* receive your order! Everyone has had the same issues that you mentioned in the Friday Finds & Check In’s, no shipping info or anything to let them know it was on its way, and super long delays.
That said; I’m totally drawn to Interstellar Icon, Risque Rose, Champagne Gold highlighter and Divine Romance Lipstick! Ugh, why must my taste be so expensive? 🤦🏻♀️
I did get a tracking number, the number just didn’t show a scheduled delivery date and no movement for about a week (other than it was in transit) – just to be clear!
My bad! I totally misunderstood! But I’m glad that they did at least give you a tracking number, some didn’t even get that. It’s just been a very discombobulated shipping ordeal for just about everyone, and that shouldn’t have happened. Their distribution center needs to get it together.
No problem! I just wanted to make it clear – they still took an extraordinarily long time to pack and ship it, but I didn’t want to misrepresent my situation!
I had same issue as you, and then my package was missing the highlighter once I received it. Now waiting impatiently for their Customer Service to respond since they charged me for it!
Hope they get back to you soon! I emailed their CS and got a response back within 24 hours last week!
Instead of starting new collection reviews, why don’t you finish existing collections? If you aren’t going to review entire collections, like Makeup by Mario Atleast announce it. Why would you not review Mario’s Master Metalic eyeshadow palette but review these?
I’m still working on it – please be patient — I’ve only had the product for two weeks… and I did review 2 of the 3 palettes, which I felt were of higher priority between those three… It takes awhile to test all shades, pull dupes, etc. and reviews get shifted out of order based on different factors, including availability, reader interest, sales going on, etc. Makeup by Mario is a permanent launch with a ton of coverage by a slew of others, so while I hope to review, it is not as high of a priority as other products, which are limited edition, selling through, or are otherwise less covered by others. As always reviews are not guaranteed and certainly not by a specific date!
I have never… announced my review schedule? There’s a reason I avoid committing to reviewing something or to review by a certain time. I have always been honest and upfront that I do my best to review products but do not guarantee reviews – whether they are done at all. This is disclosed right above where you commented:
This post isn’t even a review. It’s a sneak peek of swatches. The reviews of these products will come later, similar to how the Mario swatches were posted previously 10/07/20 and most have been subsequently reviewed. The PMG products are not necessarily being reviewed before any remaining Mario products.
None of us are entitled to reviews at any particular time. Maybe that’s not what you meant, but the tone doesn’t come across as mere inquiry.
Products are very rarely reviewed in the order they’re received/swatched – I specifically post swatches as soon as I can so that they’re available for readers to view as reviews take longer. I’m always behind – I might have an idea of the next few days of posts and then something might release (or I receive something), which could completely change the next week!
And thank you for your understanding & your patience 🙂
Again, the patience of a saint! Thank you for all you do Christine. It is important to remember that this is your blog and you get to do what you want and do it when you want. You are so dedicated, do such a wonderful job and are so loved by the makeup community as a whole, that I think we sometimes forget that!
Thank you for these!! I ordered my mega-palette last month and it is AMAZING, but now I know I am going to dip back into this collection. I have been eagerly awaiting your coverage of it!
My order says it will arrive Monday. I bought all three, but I am kinda bummed they aren’t the special baked formula. Anyone else feel a little duped?
Kinda feel like I got tricked into paying MORE than the $125 of a normal palette but with all of the lesser formula (still good, but NOT the formula used for the last two years of quads). Anyone else?
I would love to own Lavender Blue as a single.
Tonic from Urban Decay looks pretty similar to me! UD singles are $20 full price, but during sales (like Ulta 21 Days of Beauty), they’re often marked half off!
Why is it when a group of quads are released, there are shades in each quad I want and shades I don’t want? Is that like a law or something?!! If pressed to get only one it would likely be Interstellar but so many pretty shades here and only one with anything that approaches a gold, so that is a win in my book. Unfortunately the highlighter is way too dark for me and the lipsticks are a big question mark. I have so many pinks that Divine Romance will likely be well covered in my stash. I like Amour as it looks in the bullet but not so crazy about it in the swatch. It appears much lighter which doesn’t work for me. Once again, I bemoan the fact that the closest place I can see PMGL in person is in Seattle. Oh well, I have time to decide what I want to do and if I don’t end up picking anything up then that is okay, too.
I’m so tickled that the shade I liked best, Blue Blood, is in the mini Subversive palette! Oh Pat, please make more minis so we common folk can try out the hype.
Wow – these all look lovely – especially Interseller Icon – I love all the shades in this beautiful quad. No reds or pinks either. I actually like the burgundy shade, with the blue and brown shade. I think this collection is going to be a winner.
I received the Interstellar and Fleur Fantasia. Unfortunately, I accidentally ordered 2 Interstellar– I noticed it right away and contacted them, but was told nothing could be amended. Thus I waited to receive it, then shipped it back right away.
I also ordered the Fleur Fantasia. I must admit, I usually do not return make up, but I hated this one after swatching . It seems more like a spring palette, and lavender swatched sheer, light and luminescent for me. I did not expect that. The matte I liked — but I still shipped it back!
I’m still waiting on my quad totale to arrive. My order arrived last Friday with only my lipstick. I notified them immediately and after being promised it would ship early this week they didn’t ship it until last night. Until her shipping approves I’m done ordering directly from Pat.
I’m also glad I didn’t order the highlighter until seeing real swatches. It’s way too dark for me.
Christine let start off with You are an amazing person and only one person can do so much!! To the no name comment, I hope you weren’t writing with ill will intentions thinking that Christine owes any one of us reviews we would prefer to see first. Ok enough said about that. Onto what I purchased. I was like many…between purchasing Interstellar Icon and Risque Rose. Well, I decided on Risque Rose since I already have similar shades for all. I love Risque but advise wearing tacky primer for lavendaring (had fall-out dry & wet). Mink Noir is amazing. I love Divine Romance lipstick but I’m 100% certain I have more than one great dupe in my huge lipstick stash. I love love all my Pat products.
Thank you, Shalonda! It was a comment left by a semi-regular reader, otherwise I would have not published it – more because I do not like readers feeling like they have to defend me in this space (just unnecessary, I think), even though I appreciate it.
🙂
Fleur Fantasia is absolutely lovely, but I bought my first PM palette (Rose Decadence) this summer and have used it once.
I was initially thinking her highlighter would call to me, and I certainly don’t need another highlighter, but it doesn’t so that’s a win for me!
So happy yours finally arrived! I received a second, later order from PMGL even before you got your order. It’s a real perk to live right by her distribution center.
The swatches of the other two look amazing. I look forward to your thoughts on the new formulas!
I really wish they’d allow you to pay for expedited shipping! Processing will probably be long, but at least the transit could be shorter, LOL!
Thank you for posting these sneak peek swatches regularly versus waiting until the final review. They are sooooooooooo unbelievably helpful for those of us with the “ooh, gimme, gimme!!” reaction to every new makeup item hitting the market. That highlight is waaaaaay too dark for my skin tone and the only quad to catch my eye has a shade I already own and barely use.
Glad to help, Z! Several years ago, I started doing them (as a trial) during a holiday season as I struggled to keep up with the launches — especially as releases tend to come in waves, not perfectly staggered, so this way, some content was available sooner rather than later. Readers responded well then, and it seems to work well for most readers 🙂
