Hmm, doesn’t perform as well as the other mega palette, but then blues and purples are hard to get consistent coverage for. Can’t wait for the full reviews of all the palettes! ?

Katherine T. Avatar

Oh wow, this makes Viseart look like a bargain! Some gorgeous colors here, but as usual, the blues and the purples are the trouble makers. Out of 28 shadows, I see 8 that are going to get very poor ratings, 11 are neutrals that I have plenty of dupes for, so that leaves only 9 that might interest me, so I can’t justify $240 for this. Disappointing because these were so hyped. Metallic Steel Blue, Golden Rose, Golden Beige are stunning. Hope she sells these in singles.

KJH Avatar

The mattes don’t look like 240$ worth of palette. Some lovely shades, though. BTW, tech-related: for 2 days I haven’t been able to scroll down below the Cover Girl ad. Sometimes ads finish their animations, then let you proceed. This one stops you dead in your tracks. You can only see the first post. Yesterday, could not continue reading on the first post, today could. It’s an iPad Air 2, FYI. Please don’t tell me I won’t ever be able to read the other posts! No!

Christine Avatar

Could you screen shot and email it to me KJH? I have not seen it, but it may be a tablet ad. I am told that my premium network is incapable of segmenting us out of prohibited ad technologies on tablet, so I have the joy of dealing with getting them removed as they are discovered. (We don’t allow roadblocks.)

KJH Avatar

It must have been. I was able to go to the Continue Reading page, then hit Previous Post and see all the former entries. Then poof, gone! Nice, and thanks. It seemed to be Cover Girl ads both days. Nordie’s (today, others on other days) has ads that block print, but usually not your content, just over the intro to section. Only animated ads have prevented scrolling down beyond the ads.
Hope that primer helps for the latest maven’s palettes. And yes, Viseart, you are a positive bargain, methinks. These will certainly take you a while, to swatch, evaluate, and run the numbers. It’s going to be a bigger marathon than Nars Audacious! Interesting and some unusual choices. Looking forward, as usual. There’s always so much in the pipeline. Thanks.

Kim Avatar

The same thing just happened to me on both of these palette sneak peaks. It was also the Covergirl ad that stopped me. I was able to refresh and the ConAngra ad let me move forward. I’m on mobile, Samsung Galaxy S4 if that matters.

Cici Avatar

I’ve been seeing a few YouTube beauty gurus raving about these Natasha Denona palettes but now that I am seeing some of swatches….I’m am not impressed. Those matte eyeshadows are swatching pretty darn pactchy.

Christine Avatar

It is a higher-end line based on pricing, though oddly the lipstick/lipgloss pricing is much lower than eyeshadow (not usually the case). I think it is missing higher-end/luxury packaging to give it a cohesive “this is why I’m expensive” image.

Kira Avatar

Yeah, the packaging reminds me of lower end beauty store brands, but the pricing is like you’re getting good Viseart quality shadows. The swatches look pretty inconsistent too. I think there was also no promotion or build up to these to suggest that they merit the price difference.

Fran Avatar

There are a few colors here that I’d love to have if they perform well on lids, especially Metallic Steel Blue, Gray-Brown, and Calypso Blue. But, looking at the swatches of a lot of the mattes, I’m going to be interested in singles only!

Mallory Avatar

I look at your website everyday and am always impressed by your thorough reviews but the picture quality, especially of the close ups of the eyeshadow in this post feels even better than usual! Could just be all in my head XD but it looks great! Now if only the performance of all the shadows were up to par…

Ishita Ray Avatar

Gorgeousness! I have seen this palette on youtube and people were raving about it… But I personally feel the shadows are very easily dupable and it’s just wastage of money shelling out 240$ on an eyeshadow palette! 🙁
I could be wrong though!

Elise Avatar

Echoing prior comments. Really glad I did not jump when these were announced. Then again I tend not to jump on high end products when there are dups/products with comparable to superior quality at a lower price point. Yup, I live and thrive on a budget. 😉

Christina D. Avatar

Now these are my kind of colors. But $239 for 28 shadows from a brand I’ve never even heard of? Is that a joke? And it doesn’t appear that all of the colors swatched well. Easy pass here.

Christine Avatar

As far as I’m aware, Natasha Denona is a professional makeup artist with at least some recognition, just seems to be more international recognition. There are a lot of talented industry professionals that I haven’t heard of, though, so I don’t know much more than what is stated on her bio.

monica Avatar

I was hoping this one would be better. I feel like the metallic shadows on both palettes look the best. It’s almost $30 for a single shadow though. I’m not sure if I would be willing to commit to a brand I can’t see in person.

Lisa Avatar

I am so curious to see if this lives up to the price-tag. Even with an A+ rating I’m still not down for shelling out that much cash. Nothing wows me to the point where I must have it but I hear amazing things about the metallic finishes.

Christina D. Avatar

Out of curiosity, I went to the website. I thought $239 was ridiculous, but apparently that price reflects a 30% discount! So the full price is $239 + $71.70 = $310.70!!!

I’ll be the first to admit I spend too much money on makeup (the priciest being Viseart and YSL) but one single item would cost more than my entire purchases for a few months!

Christine Avatar

It is definitely a lot to put towards a single product, even if it contains a lot of shades. They could have gone for smaller sizes or a more cohesive palettes – it’s clear there’s a warm/cool theme between the two larger ones, but I’m not sure they’re really cohesive palettes. They remind me a little of Viseart palettes in that they’re designed to be combined with the brand’s other palettes rather than as a standalone palette.

averymae Avatar

I’m seeing a few shades I would think about buying a single of – Vintage, Chromatic, Glaze, Satin Skin – but there are too many iffy shades in here for the price. I expect to be dazzled by a palette for that kind of price tag! For a $239 palette that is supposed to be all about blues and purples, the neutral metallics seem to be the nicest ones!

Jen Avatar

If I’m spending over $200 on a palette (no matter how good of a “deal” it is per shadow), every shadow better perform amazingly. The metallics look amazing, but those mattes look…patchy.

Ellie Avatar

Nope, I can’t justify that price. :/
I know these are also sold individually, but at $29 each I can justify that even less. Too bad, some of the colors are really pretty and I would love to have them.

KJH Avatar

This is >$106/oz. btw, ND has 5 shadow palettes for $48 on her dedicated website. DK if it’s pros only. Cover Girl is back. Had to continue reading the Sephora blush, and back into this. Will try a screen shot.

Christine Avatar

I just wish singles weren’t quite so pricey OR if they had a tiered discount for buying singles! The single pan packaging looks like a plastic sleeve? but I’m not sure if they’re sold as pans or if it’s just a lightweight plastic compact, lol!

Lulle Avatar

Who knew a brand could have the audacity to sell their palette for $240 (!) and then include a shade like Aubergine. And that’s not even the only dud in there, none of the purples/bright blues look very good. I’m waving my fist at my screen in outrage right now…

Carrie Avatar

Why would anyone spend $240 when the namesake colors perform poorly? There are some nice shades to be sure, but of course they are the dupable ones.

Christine Avatar

Not having tested these for wear or having had the chance to apply the majority, I can’t say specifically about this palette as swatches don’t always tell the real story, but people may want different things out of a palette or may be OK with a sheer, buildable product or they might use the type of base or primer on a regular basis that would get them what they want. Some might really love the formula and when put in the context of this brand/product, singles are $29 each, and 28 of them would run you $812. It might end up making sense to get shades you don’t love if there are still enough that you do love.

That being said, just about all products have dupes available, so for those who don’t want to spend the money, I am sure there are other options out there!

Kate Avatar

$239 for 28 shadows, out if which at least half has dupes? I’m sorry, but I’m thinking about a Sonia Kashuk palette full of nice matte colors for $19.99, and it just seems ridiculous..

Christine Avatar

Different strokes for different folks — nobody’s ridiculous if they want to buy it OR if they don’t want to buy it. That’s the great thing about beauty: there is something for everyone, but not everything is for everyone and that’s OK.

Amber Avatar

Of course every single YouTube “guru” is proclaiming it the greatest palette of all time. But they of course had it sent to them from Beautylish so the reality of spending the same amount on eyeshadow palette as I do on my car payment on my new ride…smh that’s just crazy. So they don’t feel the sting of dishing out a crazy mount of cash for it. I have being eye’in for a while and I want it I really do. Just for the amazing shimmer, duochrone, gorgeous shades. There a very limited number of Mattes so there under performance is not that big of deal. But the price its 45 mins from the presale and I just don’t know what to do!!

Christine Avatar

Hey Amber,

It’s disclosed above, but Beautylish sent the palettes to me as well, so there’s no confusion I thought I’d just make sure you were aware!

Why not get a 5-pan? You can try the formula, and the cost per shade is still far less than the singles, but you don’t have to drop $200+ in one go. If you end up loving it, you could get a larger palette that has mostly other shades or you could give your 5-pan palette to a friend as a gift or keep for traveling. Beautylish does have a great return policy, but I really think 5-pan is a great way to go to try the formula without spending more than you might be comfortable with!

Helene Avatar

Lovely shimmery shadows in both of the palettes. I’m not so sure about the matte ones, nor the purpley ones.
It will be very interesting to read the reviews, even though I’m not going to buy any palettes at this pricerange. Not buying doesn’t mean it’s not interesting and fun to know what’s new and good out there.

Laura Avatar

I have the other big palette from Natasha Denona as well as one of the sets (#8). I was going to return it or try to cancel order, but the shadows are basically close to awesome. Especially the shimmers. I have been over the moon about colourpop and viseart this year but these are AMAZING. The “pigmented, finely milled, no fallout” lines are used often, but seriously, I love these. I threw a few of the champagney ones on and literally got three compliments on a cruddy Sunday. And I was wearing glasses! I haven’t really played with the mattes, and they are dupable in my stash, but don’t dismiss this palette!

Rachael Avatar

Wow, for that price tag I’d expect the performance of those mattes to be spot on. I do love that Golden Rose but this is an easy pass. Also, the color arrangement is just ugly to look at.

Joy Avatar

I’ve seen review/swatches in a few YouTube videos that deceive these as all over the place with quality. At this price, it makes each individual eyeshadow a decent price. But is it worth it when near half are almost duds? And the ingredients are sub-par and scaring me. I admit to seeing a few shades and swooning. Would I pay 29-40 for a single? No. I’m very interested in your reviews! They’ll settle everything. ⚖

Zoe Avatar

I have heard nothing but good things about this brand, so glad to see you cover them!
NikkieTutorials first introduced them to me and she raved about these.
Though some colors look a little meh-performing here…
Can’t wait to read your take!

Alicia Johnson Morris Avatar

My favorite You Tube guru just reviewed this palette and it seemed to perform a lot better than it swatched. However at this price point: no thank you. I certainly may pick up a few singles though! Some of those colors are just gorgeous!

El Avatar

I love the idea of having a matte and metallic finish in the same colour, but the matte Steel Blue is just sad looking. 🙁 Really hit and miss with these swatches for smooth vs patchy performance!

Kim Avatar

I mostly love the light beige shimmers, which I’m sure are pretty dupeable. I’m really looking forward to seeing what other shadows may be similar to that tiffany blue matte when you do the full review.

TLC Avatar

The packaging and layout of the shades resemble an ELF palette. There are a few shades that are beautiful, but for the most part, this is really a dud luxury item. The picture showing the ingredients does not state where the palette was manufactured. Christine, where are these palettes being manufactured? In the USA, France, Italy, Korea, China or somewhere else?

Jenny Callahan Avatar

I could hug you for saving me $240! I was ready to pull the trigger sight unseen, but I’m so glad I didn’t after seeing your swatches. I always wait for your reviews or at least your swatches before buying, especially on the more pricey items. I suppose I will just continue my quest of aquiring all of the MUFE shadows. At least now I can justify spending the $240 on those instead! Thank you for all of your hard work and dedication! I know I’m not alone in saying that I rely on your opinions before making purchases.

Alison Avatar

Just to show how OCD I am about this palette, I have purchased it and am awaiting your review before I use or return it. Meanwhile, I tried to figure out whether or not it is worth it for me personally. I don’t think the per pan cost calculation is meaningful because there may be certain shades that don’t work, either due to formula or color, or that one has or could buy. I therefore went through the swatches and figured out that I would wear about 20 of these, that there were 10 I liked enough to consider purchasing them as singles, and that about seven of them, I liked so much, that I really might do it. Seven singles (provided they were all available) would run about $168 (+shipping). Ten would be $270 + shipping. So I am waiting to see if those 7 – 10 perform well or have lower priced dupes. If they don’t , better to get a few and dupe elsewhere. If they do, you get all the rest you would wear. As one who does not have that many neutral palettes, I am really liking the cool and duo chrome-y neutrals as well as the purples and wines. Like many, I would not wear some of the matte blues, but because they are right there, as a cool neutral person, I could easily blend them in with other shades and get some use out of them. For those who otherwise like the palette and can afford it (It’s less than the price of 3 Louboutin lipsticks which I personally would never consider buying), I would not say nay based on a few blues.
