NARS Satin Lip Pencils
NARS Satin Lip Pencils

NARS Satin Lip Pencils ($25.00 for 0.07 oz.) include thirteen new and permanent shades of NARS’ Lip Pencil with a new finish–Satin. Twelve shades are available at both NARS and Nordstrom, while one shade is exclusive to NARS (Jardin de Plantes). I’m working on getting the rest of the photos ready and testing the remaining shades (I tested three yesterday), so I’ll have reviews up shortly! For now, take a peek at swatches 🙂

They all look quite smooth and pigmented! Hyde Park looks nie and Palais Royal kind of reminds me of Mac Rebel. Exited to see your reviews :).

I’m not thrilled with most of the shades, I have to admit. The nudes look very yellowy for sure, and I’m missing shades that I’d like to wear–maybe I’m just boring, but most of these feel too dark or too bright for me. I still might give them a try, but between that and the lack of twist-up, I may pass on this whole product.

Mariella Avatar

Christine, are these twist up or do they require sharpening? I love quite a few of the cooler toned reds, berries, deep pinks (big surprise!)

Tara Avatar

I wish NARS would make these roll up so you would not have to sharpen and waste product! For the price tag, they should; the Cover Girl are for goodness sake, so these should be as well.

Roxanne Avatar

You could try depotting them using a hairdryer and a small cosmetic pot. It may not be as pretty/convenient but you wouldn’t waste product.

Lolita Avatar

Ooooh, i want Lodhi. How does Luxembourg compare to Mexican Rose in Nars Velvet Gloss lip pencil? I’m eager for your review as well, thanks for all the gorgeous photos!!

Joy M Avatar

I wonder if these are going to be similar to Clinique’s Chubby Sticks? The sheen and coverage looks similar. Looking forward to the reviews!

abigailod Avatar

Excited for your reviews, Lady!

Real quick, what’s the finish like (which is it closest to MAC’s)? Does it stay glossy like when it’s first applied?

abigailod Avatar

I’ve never really used the chunky lip pencils. Is there a lot or considerable amount of product waste when they’re being sharpened?

Ellen Avatar

It looks like there may be a few for me to try, although all the warm shades do appear a little orange. I got to swatch the MAC mineralize lipsticks yesterday, and the three warm shades were definitely orange, not brown or neutral. These are the next to try!

I would invest in these if they were twist up. I love NARS on my dark skin. BUT as they need to be sharpened…I’ll pass. I refuse to de-pot lip products because I’m not going to carry a lip brush to reapply and using my fingers to dip into a pot then apply to my lips is a no go for me.

EvilStepQueen Avatar

Some of them look a bit brown/orange for my tastes. The brighter pink or reds are right up my alley. I can’t wait to try them!

I’m giving gimme gimme hands ::: open close open close::: those pastels, deep lusty reds, vampy burgundy..rrrrowr.

Carlijn Avatar

I can’t believe they created a shade based on a Dutch castle (Het Loo). I really want to love the shade, but I have to see swatches first!

Alison Avatar

SO excited! Palais Royale and Majella look gorgeous, and I love NARS Pencils! Satin is the perfect addition, and its so great to see that they’re done just as well as the matte and the gloss!
