Sneak Peek: MAC Sophisticate Face Kit Photos & Swatches

MAC Sophisticate Face Kit
MAC Sophisticate Face Kit

MAC Sophisticate Face Kit ($49.50 for 0.43 oz.) includes six eyeshadows, two blushes, and two lipsticks. Worth pointing out right away is that the back of my palette says the second blush on the left is Simply Bliss, whereas Nordstrom’s product listing had Cream Soda in its place; I checked both of them, and the blush in this palette is slightly more pink-tinted and a little lighter but not by much. I hope to share a sneak peek of the Style Maven Face Kit tomorrow, so stay tuned!

This is a warm palette! I don’t like my lipsticks right next to my shadows, and if the lipsticks ever melt, the whole palette could be ruined

Uh, this Wedge doesn’t look like Wedge in the permanent line…and Dance in the Dark looks pretty awful, too. I guess this is definitely a “wait and see” type of palette, but so far, looks pretty disappointing.

Meh. The blush colors are pretty, but some of those shadows look pretty patchy. I’m not really into nudes and sheer lips for fall.

Wow, didn’t think I’d be interested in this, but most of these colours look right up my alley, which is *really* rare for me in larger palettes.

I bought the All About Beige face kit last year. It was mostly a miss for me. The blushes were pretty and I liked the color scheme but the shadows seemed dry and it was difficult to get any of the eye shadows on a softer brush and also difficult to blend once on the lid. The protective plastic lipstick lid did a decent job of protecting the lipstick but I didn’t like how messy and smudgy the lid became and I think in general powder and cream products shouldn’t be in the same palette. Maybe instead of having a couple of lipstick pans they could put a few sculpting colors (highlighter or bronzer or contour).

I hate to say it but this is the most boring, unimaginative palette I’ve seen in ages. I love a good neutral palette but ugh, this just leaves me cold… Hopefully it performs…

Too warm for me and, like others, I don’t like a design with powder products next to a pan of something creamy. Just as well, as I can’t get this here in Canada. What the heck happened to Wedge? Mind you, Beautifully Charred looks really nice but hardly unique.

I was hoping this was a warm palette. I am so tired of neutrals this will be a refreshing change. These colors are a completely different color range for my Chanel B30 skintone. Will pick this up at Nordstrom this week. Thanks for the review. This face kit is also on MAC’s website, FYI. I thought it was a Nordstrom Anniversary exclusive, so it’s available to everyone who doesn’t have a Nordstrom nearby or shop Nordstrom online.

Christine, will you be posting a review of this palette? I’ve been considering purchasing it, but I’d like to see your opinions first. A couple of the shadows look rather powdery/thin, but both blushes look beautiful (and I missed Linda when it was released with the Julia Petit collection.)
