Sneak Peek: MAC Lipglasses Photos & Swatches

MAC Lipglass

MAC Lipglass ($17.00 for 0.10 fl. oz.) just got a new outfit and re-release with 57 shades (I’m missing one). Some of them are shades from the permanent Lipglass range, as well as some from the Lustreglass (I haven’t had time to process many thoughts on these, as I struggled just to swatch all 56 yesterday, but the shades that were in the Lustreglass range seem more pigmented in Lipglass form) line-up.

The new packaging is larger, but the tube contains a lot less–0.10 fl. oz. ($170.00/fl. oz.) compared to 0.17 fl. oz. ($100.00/fl. oz.) I do think that these should have come with a price decrease (perhaps $14) since the difference in quantity is dramatic. The Little MAC Lipglasses are $10.00 and contain 0.08 fl. oz. ($125.00/fl. oz.).

This is super useful, I’ve been thinking about getting one of these via back to mac (assuming they’re still available with that). I like the look of Prrr, Love Child and Steel Kiss.

I don’t mind that the repackaging means less product because lip gloss turns so quickly and I rarely use one up, but like you I wish the price would reflect that as well. Manufacturing costs can’t be that high, and I doubt they need to charge $17/tube to recoup advertising costs.

57 in a day is amazing!
That being said, I really hate when companies just bulk up the packaging. Whether they intend to or not (ha!), it’s misleading to the customer. Some of these are pretty but all of them are so sheer! I won’t be picking any up. I WILL be looking for Love Child dupes though, because the whole purple with gold shimmer thing is really appealing to me.

Well this is SUPER disappointing. About 40% less product for the same price? And what’s point of 57 glosses if so many look the same and/or are of poor quality?

Aline Avatar

I had a bad feeling that repackaging the Lipglasses would mean getting less product, but not as dramatically as it actually is. IDK if I want to get any now. That’s a huge ripoff.

Yea I have been really frustrated with mac lately. There are just too many other options out there now to buy mac at there current pricing. Also, I am really frustrated still with there changes to the Mac Pro program. I wish they would lower the price of some of there products like they did with their eyeshadow to put themselves at a better price point. It’s a shame to see how poorly the company is being managed.

Some look OK, some not. I do however really dislike that they put less product in the packaging and charge the same price, and I really don’t see anything good with the new packaging. Why mend it if it isn’t broken?
I also wonder it it’s more plastic in the packaging now compared to the old ones. If so it’s not very enviromentally friendly. I think I must investigate, buy one, use it up and then weigh it, not a bad idea, I can always find use for one more gloss 🙂

I don’t really think I will pick these up anytime soon, not that I really liked the Mac lipglosses in the first place. I actually regret buying a few of them just because they were so much money for something that is so sheer. I much prefer the Anastasia lip gloss formula. The only thing is that Anastaisa lip gloss line does not have any creative colors that Mac has to offer.

I am all for a packaging update, but I definitely don’t think MAC thought this price vs product amount thing through. How do you explain an increase in price with a decrease in product just due to new packaging?! I’ll pass. I’ve been loving ABH lipglosses more lately anyway. They’re much more pigmented, plus they are more product for about the same price!

I’m still annoyed that they decided to make Lustrewhite limited edition. That is my all-time favourite gloss and I feel like it’s such a nice staple.

I know that I am in the minority here, but the last one I bought was a the Ariana Grande Viva Glam and I love it, but I am almost done and I didn’t buy it that long ago. I have oh baby, and c thru right now. I am/was a huge fan of lipgloss as I feel it looks better on me than matte liquid lipsticks, but this price per ounce is horrible. I will not buy anything unless I can get it at the 40% mac pro discount. This is ridiculous!! The drugstore prices are a total rip and now this. Glad I am not don’t like anything else by Mac.

This is why I have stopped purchasing any MAC products after years and years of being a pro member and buying and rebuying thousands of items. They must think their customers are fools to pay more for such a sticky product. Their whole brand I will never buy again. I hate their limited edition stuff that gets released then resold at cosmetic company stores. They haven’t stepped up their game in years. There’s just better options out nowadays. They’ve brought down their own value.

I had most of these about 15 years ago, I stopped wearing gloss because I couldn’t be bothered to reapply every hour. But I am looking for a sparkly almost clear gloss, galaxy looks pretty. Is it Nico that u didn’t get? That was my OG.
