Sneak Peek: MAC Eyeshadow x15 Cool Neutral Palette Photos & Swatches

MAC Eyeshadow x 15/Cool Neutral Palette

This spring, MAC launched a pre-filled 15-pan palette by the name of MAC Eyeshadow x 15/Cool Neutral Palette. In case the name wasn’t obvious enough, it’s a cool-toned, neutral-themed palette. The palette retails for $100.  It’s permanent and is available online and at MAC stores (and PRO stores) as of January 9th.  It will be available internationally March 2014.  It’s going to take me a few days to test all 15 eyeshadows for wear, so for now, here are swatches.  Please hold questions until I’ve had a chance to write up the review – thank you in advance!

Too little, too late considering all the palettes out there. With MAC’s decline in quality and creativity, I’ve truly lost interest in them.

I love all but the first 4 shades of Naked 2, but I totally agree about companies not wanting to commit fully one way or the other. If you can still find it, take a look at NYX Butt Naked “eyes” palette (the first one from last year). The face products run warmer, but $25 for 15 quality eyeshadows still makes it worth the cost.

I agree! I don’t really understand who they think is going to be buying these new 15 palettes… MUAs? Or just people who love make up? Or is it for make up newbies? I just don’t get why they’ve included a mix of new and permanent shades; what’s the intended purpose of this palette? (Apart from being an eye shadow palette, duh.) Who is their intended customer? I don’t understand you, MAC!

Cumulus is NOTHING like the original (Blue Storm collection)… I have this shadow somewhere and I’m sure it’s a flat satiny grey/silver with a bit of sparkle… I can’t say it’s a great eyeshadow but it did remind me of brooding clouds… This shadow looks nice enough, but couldn’t they think of a different name… Things get confusing! – http://www.temptalia.com/mac-cosmetics-blue-storm-collection-product-photos-and-swatches

Overall, these swatches are really disappointing… Oh well, saves me some cash!

That’s one of the main things that puts me off from buying this kind of palette. I mean MAC seriously? Why not? The price is high enough, why don’t you give your consumers the possibility to buy this and customize it/be able to refill the ones they finish? I would totally go for it in that case! But now, ehmm, sorry but I’ll pass!

Well, you just saved me some serious dough, Christine. Even if the swatch quality had been there, the fact that many of these shades are visibly warm raises my consumer ire like none other. If you want to charge me $100 for a “cool-toned” palette, you need to commit. Completely. Utterly. Indubitably. Warm-toned people have dozens of neutral palettes to choose from; for cool-toned folk, it’s much harder to find something flattering without having to buy something where some of the shades are unusable (lookin’ at you, Naked 2).

(As it is, only four shades here really grab me. That is certainly not worth full price!)

…I like the last two color… I have the other permanent colors already… The rest I would never use really… These palettes are disappointing. Not that I was in the market for one… Thankfully custom palettes exist.

Thanks for the swatches and all the work 🙂
I’ll wait for the review, of course, but from the swatches I agree with some commenters who have the impression that some colors are too warm; for me those would definitely be Brun (don’t like the color at all) and Crushed Clove, as well as After Dusk and Sun Tweaked. Also some colors seem to swatch very crumbly.

I like the pale colors, but I`m sure that I have pretty similar neutrals already. Also I have the Lady Grey as well as the Angel Flame-quad, where some of the above colors are in a nicer and brigher version. Sweet Allure could probably be replaced by A Natural Flirt Extra Dimension, which I have, too. So I`m going to use what I have already; very economical 😀

Pearled Earth reminds me of colors I saw in Mega Metals or Pro Longwear-shadows, but I`m not sure right now. I think though, that long time MAC users might have many of the palette colors already. (of course the palette is probably more for people new to the brand, but nevertheless, if the colours would have been different, I might have considered it.).

I am still more tempted by the Naked 3-palette, as the colours are all more rose tinted. It is currently sold out from where I’d like to order it (can’t order from US, won’t ship to Germany), but maybe in a couple of weeks it’ll be back in stock. Also I like Blackberry, but I could get that as refill.

MAC French Clay, Crushed Clove, Blackberry, After Dusk, Sun Tweaked and of course Brun all appeal to me. Some of the others might be nice compliments. I have never run out of a MAC shadow and I haven’t bought any in a few years. I’ve been buying more UD and Chanel. If it wears nicely I will pick it up. =)

Looks pretty hit and miss to me on the swatches, but I do like some of the colors. Do you know if they will they be available as refill pans?

I tell myself that I don’t need this. I tell myself that it isn’t worth the $100, but I’ll probably end up buying this, to be completely honest. Being the makeup junkie I am, I HAVE to have it. But, to be honest, MAC has lost its sparkle. Personally, I feel like, now, they’re trying to out-do other brands, and it’s not working. I mean, I know eventually, I’ll buy this and the warm one, because I have a problem, but I’d be lying if I said it was worth it 100%.

PS: I miss the old pro palettes with the clear cover. I have the new ones. Ugh.

Just bought this pallet. I don’t think I would have spent $100 on it just because that is not in my budget but I did have a gift card someone had given me for Christmas.

So far the colors I have tried work wonderfully for everyday looks and the Pearled Earth, Blackberry, and Brun work great to darken it up just the right amount. Not a fan of Sun Tweaked but other than that I have no truly horrible complaints.

One thing I do have to say though is that I definitely see a bigger difference when I use eyeshadow primer as opposed to when I don’t then I do with other eyeshadow palettes.
