Fenty Beauty Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter ($34.00 for 0.24 oz./0.28 oz.) is available in two individual shades along with four duos.

First Impressions

The formula is described ranging from “subtle dayglow to insanely supercharged” with a “cream-powder hybrid” formula that feels “weightless” and is long-wearing. They can also be used on the eyes, body, lips, and so forth, per the brand. They feel like a traditional powder, but they have a smooth, moderately dense texture that doesn’t kick up a lot of excess product in the pan but also does not feel stiff or difficult to pickup with the brush. The finishes varied from shade to shade; where Metal Moon was the most subtle and had a satin-to-pearl finish, Trophy Wife was the most over-the-top with chunky, obvious glitter and less base color compared to the other shades.

The duos featured a light-to-moderate highlighter on the left and then a more sparkly, metallic highlighter on the right with the exception of Ginger Binge/Moscow Mule, where the left shade (Ginger Binge) was more intense (possibly owing to the richer color and payoff). In general, I found the left, more subtle side of each duo to be sheer to semi-sheer, somewhat buildable, whereas the right, more metallic side was substantially more pigmented. All of the more intense highlighters (Trophy Wife and the right side of the duos) did accentuate the look of my skin’s natural texture to some degree.

For use on the eye, they worked better with a slightly dampened brush, as it gave the powder a bit more binding powder for better adherence to the lid, but the ones I tried on the lid were blendable and easy to apply with no real concerns from the application itself other than the potential for fallout over time.

Some of those duos look lovely. From the earlier photos you had (promo photos from the company, I’m guessing), I didn’t think there were any highlighters for my colouring but looking at the duos, I think I was very wrong!

I swatched these in store and the only one that really impressed me was Chic Freak. I found that the less blingy ones of the duos were more difficult to get color payoff from.

Trophy Wife was the biggest disappointment to me. It was basically 100% loose glitter with no binding agent whatsoever and got ALL OVER my arm.

They also faded rather quickly, including Chic Freak.

I liked the texture of these though. They felt soft and like a finely milled powder.

Wow bummer to hear about TW. I thinks shudda waited until I saw the swatches to purchase. Oh well:). From the swatches..several look like they swatch better than TW. $40 for loose glitter seems like a very expensive craft project to me :).

Hmm interesting. I have Trophy Wife and on me, it has super good staying power. I wore it on my eyes and it stayed put for over 12 hours and I live in a super hot and humid country. Maybe the tester in store had dry out or something.

I disagree about Trophy Wife. I own it and I’ve worn it for 14 hours before and it stayed all day. It is glittery, but it’s hard to describe, it’s a fine glitter, not chunky so it looks pretty. But be very careful with it, you just want to use a dab of it b/c it can go from flattering to garish looking very quickly.

Ginger Binge/Moscow Mule look fantastic on me. I’m interested in the Chic Freak duo but I’m not sure if there will be color payoff. Thanks for the great swatches as always

I bought two of these, Trophy Wife and the Mean Money Duo. I love them both! I need to find a way to pull Trophy Wife off for work!

After swatching a few, I know for a fact that I fell in love with Metal Moon! This shade when blended out, just melds with whatever ones skin shade is. It became a perfectly *natural* looking glow on my NC37 skin. Couldn’t even see the white base at any noticeable level!

I swatched these in store. Trophy Wife is OTT yellow gold, with lots of shimmer and glitter, but I’m hoping I can pull it off. As for the Duos, Ginger Binge/Moscow Mule was the best by far, although I thought the 2 shades looked a bit too close in color. As for the other Duos, the left side was dry and hard, could barely get any pigment from it, and the testers were only 1 day old. The right side was much better . Not sure if it was a bad batch or maybe the testers got ruined, will wait for reviews.

I purchased Ginger/Moscow and the gloss. I give her props for her shade range which she stated is inclusive of those with albino conditions. I love the gloss too.
