Sneak Peek: Cover FX Custom Enhancer Drops Photos & Swatches

Cover FX Custom Enhancer Drops
Cover FX Custom Enhancer Drops

Cover FX Custom Enhancer Drops ($42.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is a liquid formula that is available in four highlighting shades and two bronzing shades. They’re designed to be mixed in with your favorite liquid product (foundation, primer, moisturizer, and so forth) or used alone. I just received them a few days ago but almost all the shades have been sold out online for a couple of weeks now. Last I heard, there may be a restock in late August/early September. I’ll be reviewing these sometime in August in anticipation of restock but focusing on a few other things more readily available in the next couple of weeks – so I figured swatches would be useful for the time being.

I love Moonlight and Sunkissed… Wear them pretty much every day. The highlighter is stunning, and people keep commenting on how good it looks each time. A win.

Fingers…tapping them when the foundation is still somewhat wet, and then with the foundation brush make sure that there are no harsh edges and that everything looks natural…ish…lol

Susan Avatar

You did not ask me…? But I have been using moonlight and I apply it with a wet beauty blender (off the back of my hand) to my high points and then apply a powder highlighter over it. I’ve been using Laura Gellar gilded honey, champagne pop and becca opal over it (all separately:).

Diana Avatar

This is how I apply it too!! First with my fingers then blend out with my damp BB. It’s perfect!! I LOVE these, I have both moonlight and sunlight!

I have moonlight and absolutely adore it. It’s an everyday item now. Especially on really hot summer days I’ll just apply it to the high points of my face with bare minimum of any other make up and it gives me the best glow!! I get so many compliments on it. Definitely going to grab sunlight when it comes back in stock.

Sunlight and moonlight are such pretty colors, and while I avoid more sparkly highlighters I can’t look away from these. I can imagine using even just a touch. Will definitely check them out when they’re back in stock.

I swatched them in store a few weeks ago and they’re so pigmented and opaque that I don’t think I could use them. Even just one drop was crazy intense, so I don’t think mixing with foundation would work. The highlighters were like liquid metal. It’s beautiful but not something I would wear!

I thought the same thing when I saw other online swatches but Christine’s right-side swatches look great blended. I have been interested in these ever since I saw Lisa Eldridge use one in her Eldridge glow video. She seemed to blend it out with her foundation brush (that still had leftover foundation on it). Interestingly enough, she still reached for Becca pearl liquid perfector in her last video when she had to get camera-ready for an interview in her last video despite introducing the cover FX. I wonder what the thought process would be to choose one over the other. I would be interested to see how these compare to the liquid Becca shimmering skin perfectors in pigmentation, luminosity, finish, and lasting power.

That’s a great catch. It’s always interesting to see what these people choose to use when they do “GRWM” videos. It is a true testament to what they actually wear on a daily basis. I’m thinking that she wasn’t a big fan of the CoverFX drops vs Becca. I’ve been coveting Celestial but it’s been OOS. I had it in my cart one day, the next it was sold out and hasnt been restocked yet. Maybe I’ll just stick with my Becca Pearl liquid, powder and cream. I guess I really don’t need anything else… 🙂

Becca pearl is awesome! Cover FX celestial looks different enough to be worth hauling at some point–if you’re really into highlighters.

Ah, as for Ms. Eldridge, the Becca liquid perfectors are explicitly mentioned to be a staple in her pro kit and she uses those a LOT in her videos. Which was why I noticed when she picked out the cover FX one for a glow video. She probably plays around with hundreds of new products per week but she sometimes points out why a particular product is especially good for a certain situation compared to similar products on the market.

I agree as well. Given the pigment intensity and the size of the bottle, I think it’ll go bad and separate before you could use a decent amount of it. I’m afraid of how to apply it where it wouldn’t be over the top. I’ll have to check out the Eldridge video; Celestial is pretty but liquid metal is a pretty accurate description.

Hmmm, per oz, these are very pricey compared to liquid highlighters and bronzers from Becca, Joise Maran, NARs, etc. But it looks like they didn’t skimp on the pigment here, so I imagine the tiniest drop or smidgen will do. These will be a skip for me, since my Marc Jacobs foundation doesn’t seem to mix well with anything, and I still have some liquid highlighters from Becca, but curious how these will perform

Whitney Avatar

All the hype is about the highlighters, but I have sunset and LOVE it. It works mixed with foundation to accommodate a summer tan, and also by itself to bronze the cheekbones and forehead. A little goes a long way, so I feel like it’s worth the price.

I have celestial i absolutely love it! You don’t need a lot of product, a full drop is too much. Even though it’s pricey a bottle will last awhile! I prefer straight to the face. I tried mixing it with my foundation and it was a little too much for my taste. I had to put powder on to help lessen it.

I was in Sephora and one of the makeup artist working at the Cover FX counter applied Candlelight to my cheek area for a highlight. I didn’t like it because it seem to have just sat on top of my skin. It looked like it was a shiny metallic bronze stripe on my cheek. I kept it on for a while just checking it out but the look never changed.

I got a sample of Celestial and should really have just bought them at the time. I LOVE that one. Moonlight was a little too dark on me, it’s beautiful, but I am SO pale that it’s almost bronzer. I am so mad I waited because it’s been sold out forever.
