I really wish I liked lip palettes, but I don’t. The lack of portability always wrecks it for me. Plus, custom mixes are fantastic until you need to touch up on the go. From a value standpoint a lip palette make so much sense. In many cases, I do not need an entire lipstick because my interest has moved on so smaller pools are perfect. From a storage perspective they make so much sense too. But I absolutely do not have the cojones to mercilessly desecrate my lippie collection and dethroning my TF, my Guerlain… etc.. etc.. to make a custom palette either.

Agreed! If I were a makeup artist then it would make a lot more sense but for just doing my own lips, I am much more likely (x infinity) to use lipsticks. And I’d always have to use a lip brush and it’s so much more hassle for just the application itself. Touch ups later always happen with whatever lipsticks are in my purse anyway. As for depotting expensive lipsticks, I can’t even watch OTHER people do it.

A small part of me still wants this though, just to have it. I’m fighting the instinct.

Agreed (and laughed about not having the cojones!) I’ve bought empty palettes to do so, and they are just sitting there. The only lipstick I de-pot now is when I have worn it all the way down to the casing, then I don’t mind digging it out and putting it in a smaller palette (a mini 5 pan one) for carrying in my makeup bag in my purse.

I’m pretty tempted by this. I like the idea of small pots of color rather than full-size lipsticks (since my color needs are so changeable). It has a lot of great colors for mixing. I usually use a lip brush with anything that isn’t a balm or stain anyway. As for portability, I don’t carry a purse, I have a shoulder/messenger bag that I take everywhere, which this would fit nicely.

You know, it’s odd, I went from being perfectly satisfied with having no palettes other than my Paula’s, to wanting a lot of palettes (none of which I’ve actually gotten because of reviews here). I’ve even depotted to palettes now. I’ve become a palette person. 🙂 I realized as I made the transition that this might not be perfectly convenient for travel unless I had a plan, so I got a smaller palette from Book of Shadows that I can pick and choose pans from my larger palettes to make a set of. This is kind of fun!

one or two months ago I got a BH Cosmetics 28 Colors Lip Palette for $12 and this is a price I willing to pay for lip palette that I know I don’t used it as often because I can’t pack it up in my hand beg for touch up during the day and after you open the palette they can stay creamy and smooth for shorter time before slowly dry out
