I just gasped. Out loud.
IT’S SO PRETTY.
I must resist temptation… I still have vol.3. But… It’s so pretty!!!
YES!!!! I just whispered “dammit…they got me so hard!” lol!!!! It’s gorgeous!!!
This reminds me of the Michelle Phan palettes, with the circles. Nice mix of colors, but I have enough makeup already, so don’t need this one. But I can see someone getting a lot of looks out of this palette, but still bulky even if you pop it out of the packaging.
Wow, this is pretty! I am so loving seeing brights in holiday releases. My poor wallet. I’m half-hoping this won’t be any good, because I love the shades and the packing is cute.
*packaging, not packing
I’d love to see how this reviews. I’m not really too tempted though by Smashbox personally.
While this *looks* super pretty, it also screams excess bulk to me. I will still be interested to see how it all performs because I know of someone who *may* possibly have lost her stash, so yep, for that reason!
I think I’m in love.
Beautiful! I had not heard of the painter Yago Hortal and looked up his art, I love it.
Wow, there is no brown in this palette?!
That’s an interesting choice because everyone uses a brown as crease or transition shade. It’s either a nice challenge or it’s going to piss people off.
I had not noticed that until you mentioned it, but in most cases, Smashbox would do it for a reason and I can only guess that they are trying to mesh the “Shape Matters” Palette/Book with the just released Master Class Palette/Book. I am going to vote ‘piss people off’ in regards to your statement of no browns. Great comment, I think you just saved me a lot of money!! ?
I love that it is so colorful and not another neutral palette!!
sooo pretty!!!! But I’ve already bought the other 3 Master Class palettes. I’ll try to resist…
The 3 is excellent! If this follows suits its going to be awesome! I just ordered this and I can’t wait to play!
Agreed. Sephora still has the color & contour… tempted to get a back up. I live for that palette!
Wow – this looks amazing too – with a wide range of gorgeous colours. It’s going to be hard to decide which palette to get this season.
What a great value! I hope the formulas are good.
Gypsy? Seriously? That’s a racial slur..
Oh my gosh, I didn’t know this was even a thing they were releasing! I’ve held off on all of their other palettes, but I got close to purchasing the #shapematters palette. This is just stunning; I might have to buy it when I get my next paycheck.
Is it just me or is it every year they take more and more out? I got last years Vol.3 and it had bronzer, contour, highlighter, and 3 blushes. It wasn’t as pretty but i think it would’ve been nice if those were included again.
I don’t like this at all – visually, it just looks VERY confusing and I don’t think I’d enjoy using it. It might have been a bit better if the names of the products had been printed on the container rather than on those annoying cello sheets but, honestly, I don’t even like looking at this – it just looks chaotic.
Oh, I see now it’s not a flimsy cello overlay with the names but a rigid and built in “lifty” thing but THAT is how much the look of this has me confused already!
I appreciate what you’re saying — we all see things differently — but this is probably the least confusing palette I’ve ever seen! Every hue range is in a single row from light to dark, with a coordinating blusher/highlighter at the end of the row. It’s even in order color-wheel wise from left to right: pink (red), orange, yellow, green, blues, violet, gray. I want this just because it’s so systematic! Compared to the larger UD palettes (where it looks like they randomly threw every color in wherever) this is choir-of-angels level organization.
Actually, the way they are depicted shows the color families in COLUMNS, not rows. As English-speaking persons, we tend to scan l>r, and down to the next row. We tend to use our reading pattern for looking at things. You pointed up something very valuable in terms of the organization of this palette. And maybe, you are primarily right-brained, and Mariella may be left-brained. Anyway, I’m sure she sees the org pattern now! Very astute comment. Is your icon Klimt?
Ordered it. I always do. My favorite palettes!
This is laid out just the way an artist would lay out their mixed-color palette. I WANT IT. I don’t need any more eyeshadow, so I’m torn — I kinda want it to do poorly so I’m not tempted any further.
Looks interesting, but I didn’t like the Full Exposure palette, so I need to read reviews before even thinking about it.
That unknown color may say “Snow”…but not sure. I am pretty sure the last letter is W.
This is an aesthetically beautiful palette. I agree with Alecto, who commented that it is very much how an artist would set up his/her palette. Painters often mix the paints on a large clear glass palette. The photo with plastic overlay reminds me even more of my art school days. Not a Smashbox fan, but I am interested in the review.
I love the idea and the look of this, and I even like Smashbox’s shadows. I think what would have absolutely made it, though, was a single row empty palette. Where everything is designed to pop out easily, having a small, more portable accompanying version in which to pop four eyeshadows and one blush (same design layout as the main palette) would have turned this into a must-have.
I agree, just got the palette not certain I will keep it.
the first thing i ever sewed was when i got my first sewing mainhce when i was 10 or 11 (i got it for hanakah, and i was begging and begging my mom to get me one, and i got one!) it was a little star shaped pillow and i forgot to leave a little gap to flip it inside out so it was inside out but i just stilled luuuvvved it and i was so proud of my self for sewing something on my own and a brought it around with me for awhile. and i made it on a super bowl sunday and i brought it to the party with me because it was at my friends house and i still sew today i hope to become a pro someday <3 ((and also i refused to get anybody's help to help me learn to sew, but i eventually taught my self)):X :O :X :O[]
YES THERE ARE NEUTRALS/BROWNS IN THIS PALETTE!!! I just received this for Christmas (yesterday) & play with it a little this morning. My best friend got it for me bc I always admire his Master Class palette 3 (square pans, 3 blushes, 2 bronzers, 1 highlighter, 16 neutral eyeshadow & 16 brights) which is amazing not just in formula but in how it’s set up, even if it is a little bulky. I was swatching my new master class palette this morning & I was surprised at the lack of neutrals AND bronzers! Well there is a matte, dark brown (Java. 2nd pan from the left, top row & it’s super pigmented) & 2 lighter matte shades that would be good as a brow bone highlight (naked & alabaster). The eyeshadows on the left side, 2nd row down are all pretty much neutral/orange & the 3rd row has a lot of gold shades. The right side is very smokey with blues, greys, purples, silvers, greens etc. I dunno … maybe they were trying to make a master class palette totally different from any past ones? There are 2 highlighters & 4 blushes. No bronzers either! But the pigmentation & formula are what u expect from smashbox photo op products (some of my faves along with lorac pro, abh, kvd, colourpop & makeup geek). The highlighter on the right side is insane & totally unexpected. It’ll probably be the only thing I hit pan on in this palette *\( -_-)/*. The other highlight is more satin then luminous but at least there are no glitters or chunks of sparkles bc I’m not about that life. There is one eyeshadow in this palette that really caught my eye & I can tell that it’ll be on my eyelid probably tonight. It’s called torch (3rd row, 3rd row down) & it’s a beautiful metallic reddish orange but it’s very wearable.
