shu uemura for WKW: Rouge Luster Lipstick

shu uemura Rouge Luster Rouge Unlimited Lipstick ($26.00 for 0.13 oz.) is described as a “deep, tender red with delicate gold shimmer.” It’s a medium pink-tinted red with golden shimmer and lots of shine. CoverGirl Burn is more vibrant and intense. MAC Extended Play is deeper and less pink. MAC Digna is deeper and sheerer. MAC New York Apple is a bit darker and doesn’t have gold shimmer (ruby instead).

The color coverage is mostly opaque with very little of my lip freckle still visible (and even less visible from afar). The Rouge Unlimited formula has an excellent glide and creaminness that allows for easy application but not so much slip that it becomes prone to bleeding or feathering. This deeper shade wears a solid six hours on me, and then it begins fade and needs a reapplication after seven and half hours. It doesn’t quite reach the “up to eight hours” of wear that the Rouge Unlimited formula touts, though. I did not detect any scent or taste while wearing or swatching.

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! My friend used to think about the same! But she realised later that it is quite sturdy and has kind of luxe feel in it, so she became to like it!

For me, I love their packaging at my first sight :3

Are you planning on swatching any of the polishes from the WKW collection? I’ve been thinking of purchasing the red set, but haven’t seen enough to make a good decision.

Wow this is nice. Since Shu is available in Asia, I hope that they’ve brought this one in. I’m quite scared of reds and I know nuts about wearing lipstick (am more of a lipgloss/balm fan) but this looks like something I can try. Do you have any tips on how to wear red lipstick without looking too garish and how to protect against feathering?
