shu uemura and Karl Lagerfeld to Collaborate

She uemura and Karl Lagerfeld are proud to announce an exceptional collaboration for the holiday collection 2012 under the name of Karl Lagerfeld for shu uemura.

This unique moment of creation has roots in more than 20 years of relationship and mutual admiration between two of the most renowned talents from the worlds of fashion and beauty. With his artful hands and revolutionary vision Mr. Shu Uemura transformed the image of women through make-up, passionately elevating beauty into a true work of art. Karl Lagerfeld’s illustrious career as a master of fashion design, photography and publishing has presented a worldview so unique he has become one of the most influential creators of his time. Both have propelled their crafts into the future with their untiring quests for innovation and beauty.

“I design with shu uemura make-up because other manufacturers do not offer such beautiful colors.” – Karl Lagerfeld

For two decades Karl Lagerfeld has been using shu uemura eye shadows to illustrate his fashion sketches. Now he merges his world with shu uemura’s to create an entire collection in homage to the brand-the color selection and packaging is entirely designed by Karl Lagerfeld who also photographed the visual campaign.

For this holiday collection, the master of beauty and the master of fashion converge, their talent and passion for beauty evoking miracles for the holiday season.

@Elana He is dead. I assume they are just talking about the Shu Uemura creative department…or whoever that guy is in the photo up there.

Ooooooh!  Love to own all those colors….really sad Shu Uemura left the U.S. market.  Online is not the same.  Those were the good ole days when this brand was only in N.Y.C. and Century City Shopping Center in L.A.

@DirtyPony Karl Lagerfeld doesn’t own Chanel. He’s the head designer and creative director for the fashion section of the brand. Alain Wertheimer and Gerard Wertheimer (the grandchildren of Coco Chanel’s associate) are co-owners of the brand.

Seeing all those colors on the table make me want to play……!! This collaboration is exciting and I look forward to at least see it online!

Too bad it’s so hard to get Shu Uemura products in Canada. I love a lot of their skincare products and makeup. 🙁
Guess I’ll stock up when I go to shanghai this summer.

2 Things: What’s with the black leather gloves worn by Karl L.? Also, why did Shu Uemura leave the U.S.? Is it still available somewhere here? (oops, 3 things!)

@Ravn94  @shelleyb I know and I’m glad he has a “thang”….to each his own.  I just find them hilarious.

@shelleyb I think they pulled out simply because they didn’t have a good marketing, but it’s still available in the US, you can find most of their products on Yes, they only sell online now.

@CRL2012 @shelleyb Thanks, I was afraid of that! It’s hard to tell colors online and to see the amount of shimmer, depth of color, creaminess, as well as to see how the color translates on skin, with eye color, etc.

Wow this is going to be AMAZING!
Definately collaberation of the year, if not the most anticipated for me in the last 5 years 😀

I do not get on ething: SHU UEMURA is dead. The brand belongs to L’Oreal so it is someone from the brand to collaborate with Lagerfeld, but the stylist himself is dead.
Strange to announce this! Scarry!

Do you by any chance know if these Shu Uemura holiday compact palettes work with their shadow/etc refills? I’ve never been able to find the answer and thought maybe you’d know 🙂 I love the compacts but hit pan on the included colors.
