I am no longer VIB and having only 10% off (only slightly more than sales tax) is not a huge temptation to me, thank goodness. Makes it easier to stick to my no-buy plan.

Gigi Avatar

Yes!! It did and I feel the same way. Why is the Rouge discount the same as VIB. I am spending a lot more at Ulta these days bc of the perks.

Making a list and checking it twice! 😆 I’m postponing many purchases awaiting for the sale.

I know I’m gonna get back-up for the Shiseido cotton pads (best thing ever), Clinique Take the Day Off make-up removers (cream, wipes, maybe), I’m gonna finally get a new Gimme Brow, I’m gonna splurge on some Drunk Elephant and get some value hair care sets (I love the option to try different brands and products in mini formats).

I thought it was 20% twice a year – November and Spring. Now it’s just 15? Or am I remembering incorrectly. I see Christine says it’s 15% in the spring so I’ll defer to that – she’d be the one to know! I’d like to be over Sephora, as Ginny said, but for many, many brands, Sephora is my only retail source. I wish the SDMs near me carried more brands (Dior, Chanel especially) and I would shop there and get 20% off every Thursday (age has its privileges) AND use points as well to pay down some spendier items.

Shoppers Drug Mart – Canadian drugstore chain with high end beauty boutiques and a great loyalty points system (not as great as it used to be but still not bad and beats the trousers off Sephora!)

First time I’ve seen Sephora exclude items and limit items during the sale. I’m barely a VIB since Ulta has better deals and carries a lot of the same lines now as Sephora.

I love how people act like 15% off is that great of a deal. Yes, for a store that never has sales a few bucks off is a few bucks off but in comparison to their competitors it really sucks. MAC had 25% and if you spent a certain amount, you got a free lip product. Ulta had their 21 Days of beauty w products marked half off and they have 20% off many times throughout the year and you rack up points that you can use off your purchase. I’m most likely skipping the VIB sale this year. There are way better deals elsewhere!

For us Canadians, this is the only time to get sales on cosmetic brands. I like MAC and I’m happy to see they do sales more than once a year now but I’m not usually running to them for most of the year for stuff. Athloght NYX is the only other brand in Canada to do sales with Urban Decay maybe 3 times a year.

I wish we had Ulta here as their sales do not apply to Canadain orders now that they ship to us. 😛

I’m itching for new foundations myself….. I love my Tarte Amazonia Clay foundation but I’m finding drier looking compare to the first 3 bottle I’ve gone through. That might be my skin (drier then it use to be) or the formula tweak, but I’m looking for something like Illamaqua skin base with the coverage and texture.

Of course, I’m speaking from my experience in the US. I know this is a deal for those who only have Sephora but in comparison to other programs, it’s pretty unimpressive. I don’t like shopping online bc I like to see things up close and personal but for me to go to Sephora or Ulta, I have to drive an hour. I will make an online purchase w Ulta bc of the perks. 15% is just not that impressive anymore and esp since their point perk freebies are continually boring. I have 1500 in points and I have cashed them in bc at most they had recently is Clinique Black Honey lipstick and an UD mascara. Meh. Yes, Sephora has some brands exclusive to them, which is why I keep coming to Sephora but most of my money goes to Ulta bc in the long run, it’s just better. Most of what I buy typically I buy at Ulta. Hopefully as Ulta grows, their program benefits will extend to those outside the US. I’m just not interested in accumulating points at Sephora to be VIB or VIB Rouge. So much they need to improve!

For Canadians, Sephora is one of the few stores that has certain brands where you can even get a sale. We pay more up here for the same products too. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a sale at MAC unless they’re items that are being discontinued. We don’t have Ulta, and we have the Bay or Shoppers but they have limited brands, and the Bay doesn’t really have a loyalty program. So we will gladly take our 15% off ??

Canadian here too and I never saw MAC on sale. I remember checking Benefit at Pharmaprix (Shoppers) and it was more expensive than Sephora. Also Sephora is the only one carrying UD in Quebec.

10% (cause I’m onlu a BI) is better that full price. I’ll probably get some things I wanted to buy but waited for a sale to do so.

Karine, if you’re MAC Select member, MAC Canada (online and in stores) had a 25% off event back in March (between March 23 – 25). They have this discount for the Select members a couple of times a year. Also, UD is available online at the BeautyBoutique (Pharmaprix QC/Shoppers). I didn’t check in the store near me though. It’s true, there are no discounts, but you can buy them during the point events during the weekend.

This being said, I agree with my fellow Canadians. Sephora sales matter to me. I don’t see Sunday Riley or DE available anywhere else. Also, NIOD (Deciem) rage, a Canadian brand, is pricey but I can’t buy it on sale other than at Sephora’s.

Genevieve Avatar

In Australia we rarely get sales at Sephora and only products that no-one wants. Mecca Cosmetica has very few sales as well.
The only beauty stores that offer geniune sales here are Priceline (budget beauty, but an excellent range of good quality skincare) and Chemist Warehouse that do offer 40% at times. None of the major dept. stores here offer great sales on HE beauty brands. So I can really understand how you Canadians feel – and that’s a shame because you are just next door to the US.

Totally bummed, when I figured out big S has none of my PML choices. PML exclusives. Guess I blew it/will wait….in case PM has another sale. Lots of Lipstories are appealing, though. S is not exciting me at all…I have 890 to go for rouge this year, and it’s April. At this rate, be under $500 for the whole year. think I can make non-rouge this year. and despite being R since the inception..with one year interval of zero buy…doubt i’ll miss it.

Does anyone know what time the sale starts online for VIB Rouge on April 13th?

I remember in November, i put a bunch of things in my cart the day before at like 10pm, intending to purchase in the morning and BAM – they were all sold out. I think I read somewhere that it was 3am EST? Can anyone confirm?

Thanks ladies!

Sephora has good perks and better customer service than ulta. That being said, Ulta stepped up their sales. Yet Sephora’s collection of items along with their customer service is a win for me. I also love the fact that they are so flexible on returning or exchanging an item that did not work for you and the fact that you get to choose freely items for points. In Ulta, you have to make purchase brands within certain hours from receiving the mail, and who has the time to do that, I mean… Sephora wins.

Ana Maria Avatar

I’m just a VIB, but I gave in yesterday with a $35 order, since there was a Drunk Elephant sample code for that value. The free 5ml eye cream (full size is $64 for 15ml) was a better deal than the 15% for VIB; plus, I was thinking of getting the full size during the sale. 😆
Sometimes the beauty offers with purchase are so good, that I don’t like to miss out… and if I’m using the sale code, I can’t also use the offer code.

Like many here in the comment section, I much prefer the rewards program from Ulta but there are things I like about Sephora, also. Several of the brands I purchase, mostly skin care, are not available at Ulta and the individual brands do not often offer any discounts so getting 15% is better than nothing. This is why I generally try and purchase my skin care during the sales. I also really hate that you can be do for a free gift at Ulta but unless you know and ask for it they won’t just give it to you. They also run out frequently and then it is just tough luck. Ulta routinely offers a $3 off coupon but again, unless you ask for it they won’t give it to you and you have to bring the code up on your phone or have the coupon in hand when you check out. They use to just keep the add behind the counter and would scan it for you if you asked for the money off coupon. The other day I was having difficulty with my phone and was trying to bring up the coupon and it was taking time with other people in line behind me. I finally just decided to ask the associate if she could just ring it up and she said no so I continued trying to get it to come up on my phone. The associate called for assistance to check other people out and when the next associate got there she asked what the hold up was and after explaining she grabbed a coupon from behind the counter and scanned for me and I was done. Seems like a big to do for $3 off but after a little bit it became kind of a point I was trying to make!!
I do the majority of my shopping on-line since I don’t live close to any Ulta or Sephora. One thing that I have been noticing a lot when I do go into the store is that the displays are really getting sloppy. No product, messy samples, product dripping onto product down below. I have been in both places and noted a lot of sales associates just standing around talking when the displays could use some help. They don’t seem motivated to try and make the shopping experience a pleasant one for the customer.
I had vowed to not be VIB Rouge next year but since skin care is expensive and the products I use are at Sephora, I am already rouge for the following year. Sad.
Okay, done with my rant now!!

Tried to grab the Bite Beauty Taurus lipstick this morning.. it was already sold out by 5am! Extra disappointed because I am a taurus and was buying this as a birthday present for myself and also one for my mom (we share the same birthday).
