Temptalia’s Haul
In terms of color cosmetics, there aren’t usually too many items that are on my list, since I tend to purchase those products for review and do so when they launch rather than waiting too long! I usually use the sale as an opportunity to try new skincare or repurchase something I’m almost out of.
Here’s how my hauling ended up going: I decided to skip the Tatcha Hand Cream ($38) because I still have a fairly full tube, should I finish it anytime soon, I can always use the Body Butter or one of ANY number of hand creams I have (I am most forgetful about using hand cream). I’m going to grab my Shiseido Eye & Lip Makeup Remover from Ulta (20% off is better!). I decided to skip the Herbivore Brighten and Blue Tansy masks (I have enough masks at the moment, and I’m not sure either are ideal for me based on your feedback). I also put the Biossance Squalane + Vitamin C Oil on the backburner as I have their 100% Squalane oil and should finish that first (I also want to try The Ordinary, which is much cheaper). I usually end up making a few orders through the sale as I remember things or if new items come out!
Also worth mentioning, Sephora DID launch the new NARS x Charlotte Gainsbourg collection today (despite having a 5/1 launch date).
I see you’ve got drunk elephant’s lala moisturizer in that list… and then of course tatcha, which is a new obsession for me that I can’t really afford!! Soo.. two questions:
I have wanted the DE lala for awhile now as sort of my “heaviest”, (most effective?) really moisturizing moisturizer, lol, even if it may or may not be too much for daytime use… so I’m wondering how you find you can best use it? Does it absorb well enough for daytime use?
Second question: have you used tatcha’s fancypants essence? if so, any thoughts? it’s so expensive but I kinda want it… but it’s just an essence… gah!! it feels like such a waste to spend money on an essence; you just splash it on and hope you’re not wasting money… but sometimes I feel like they help!! (my last one was belif’s hungarian water essence, and while much cheaper, I really did feel like it was doing *something*… but for $100, I need to know it’s accomplishments before I shell out the cash, you know??
oh, and p.s…. that hand creme is worth it, huh? thanks for the tip; my hands are basically deserts this year! ?
I’ve never used Lala before, so I have no insight there!
I have not used Tatcha’s essence either, unfortunately! My skin responds really well to the hand and body cream – like instant hydration that will take me into the next day, most noticeable with the body cream (unsurprising given I wash my hands 23894234 times a day). I think I might just do well with squalane and/or colloidal oatmeal (both core ingredients in the Indigo range) as I know that I’ve also had good luck with Aveeno’s Eczema Therapy line and Cortizone’s Intensive Healing Eczema Lotion. The Tatcha products actually made me want to revisit Aveeno’s line to compare a bit (obviously one is cheaper!). Jack Black’s Industrial Strength Hand Cream is also amazing, as long as the scent works for you (it’s distinct and more medicinal – I like it/don’t mind it, but I could definitely see some hating it!).
Jonirae, I’ve been using the DE lala cream for several months, specifically as my heaviest moisturizer. I use it at night time and sometimes during the day (I alternate it with a few other moisturizers). It’s a bit thicker but it soaks in fine. It also plays well with other serums or boosters that I’ve added in. The airless/pump type top is also a nice feature. For reference, I’ve got pretty sensitive skin with a couple areas of rosacea and combo skin.
I am a HUGE Tatcha fan, and the Essence is probably my favorite product. I recently traveled without it, thinking it shouldn’t matter for just a few days, and I could really tell difference with how my skin felt and how my other products performed. I don’t know if it is just mental or not, but my face just feels plumper and somehow better when I use it. Tatcha does sell a travel size of it now if you want to try it before shelling out the $100 (this probably won’t help you for the Sephora sale, though).
I will have to check out the hand creme! I have tried to stick to just Tatcha face stuff since it is so pricey, but it sounds like it is worth it!
I hear mixed things about the essence. I think the pH is too high to be effective. If you want to get into essence, try Missha, Benton, or S:um.
I’ve been using SK-II’s essence for years, but thought I’d give Tatcha’s essence a try. I much prefer the SK-II product, didn’t really notice anything special about Tatcha’s product. See if you can try samples of both and find out which product works best on your skin. Both companies make quality skincare.
I use the Lala whipped cream moisturizer by Drunk Elephant, it’s great on my rosacea skin, and the ingredients stay stable due to the packaging.
Thank you!!
Didn’t it used to be a 20% off sale? Oh well.
I want to get the Bite Beauty Oyster Pearl sparkly lip thingie, maybe one or two other new lip colors, possibly a Tarte Frxxtion Stick since my sample-size just ran out yesterday, and I need to buy a konjac face sponge for my partner.
Usually I have some sort of palette that I want to get during these sales but none of the recent palette releases have excited me at all.
The one in fall is 20%, the one in April has been 15% based on my memory!
I’ve got a couple staples: a large bottle of Clinique Take the Day Off makeup remover, UD Ozone primer pencil, and Estee Lauder Daywear moisturizer. Right now I’ve only got two lipsticks in my cart — the Sephora Rouge Cream Lipstick in the new shades The Nudest and Whirls — but that reflects the fact I got a better deal during the recent Tarte and Bobbi Brown discounts and picked up some new lippies then.
I’ve tried the herbivore mask and was not a fan. From everything I’ve seen it’s a very polarizing product, but on my combo oily skin it tingle-burns so badly.
My skin isn’t very sensitive, so I’m not sure why it reacts to this like it does.
Thanks for the heads up! I might skip. I’m not sensitive either, but I feel like I might be on the lower end for tolerance on how much something tingles, lol!
This sale is likea no tax event for me. lol (13% in Ontario). This list might change.
DIOR Diorskin Nude Air Luminizer Powder in 002 PINK GLOW
BOSCIA Japanese Favorites
COVER FX Custom Enhancer Drops in Halo
URBAN DECAY Naked Skin Highlighting Fluid in Aura and Skywalk
KAT VON D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Dreamer
SKYN ICELAND Detox Kit for Stressed Skin
Not sure if Coverfx ships to Canada, but check out Coverfx.com as they’re having 25% off right now
CoverFX is a Canadian brand actually, but the sale excludes their newest products including Halo. 🙁
Tarte was doing that as well with their Shape Tape concealer excluding those with their sales. 🙁
I didn’t realize Ulta’s 20% was during the same time frame; so I’m going to move part of my Sephora wish list over to Ulta and only buy Sephora exclusive items at Sephora’s sale.
I’m just trying to decide if I should stock up on things I know I’ll want later (but won’t use now) for the discount or wait. I might end of waiting because the last time I stocked up, I ended up with more than a 1.5 yr’s supply of body wash and lotion (from Sephora’s fall 2015 sale) that I am STILL trying to work through *face palm*.
Here’s what I’ve learned: No more than 2 months’ worth of a back-up (e.g. for most skincare, that’s only ONE backup or less) of something I WILL use up! I’ve also realized that I’m the type of person who will switch it up often, so having 4 of the same moisturizer is not my style – I’ll get the urge to try something new sooner rather than later.
Great advice–thanks!!
I’ve been looking for a new night cream and another good mask, so I’ll probably pick up a few things during the sale. That Herbivore mask looks interesting but in the reviews there’s a few complaints about the smell, so I might see if I can get a sample this weekend at my local Sephora.
I am excited about this – I’ve had a lot of fun building my cart.
Lancome Bi Facil (stocking up)
Erno Lazslo soaps (Sea Mud Deep Cleansing and Firmarine bars)
NARS Audacious Lipsticks in Anna and Barbara (backup)
Dior Fusion Mono eyeshadows in Chimere and MIrror
Tom Ford Cream and Powder duos in Golden Peach and Naked Bronze
Peter Thomas Roth Pumpkin Enzyme Mask Enzymatic Dermal Resurfacer
Still on the fence about:
Glamglow Glowsetter Setting Spray – my HG is Skindinavia Bridal because I like a natural finish – I add in the glow strategically already with products and I don’t want this to be too glowy, don’t want to have to return it, don’t want it to be a “youtube made me buy it”.
This year I’ll mostly just be restocking my main HG skincare products. Therefore, just Ole Henrikson’s Truth Serum and Dr. Dennis Gross Ferulic Acid & Retinol Eye Serum. Will also get one of Bite’s duochrome Lip Creams in either Peacock or Rose.
Ooo, just in time for the Urban Decay Basquiat collection launch. My local Sephora accidentally put the Tenant palette out for sale last week and I got to swatch it. The pink, teal, lime green, and bright blue seem pretty impressive, impressive enough for me to want one even before the review. They couldn’t let me buy one, but they did put it on hold for me. Other than that, it’ll be a skincare sale for me, I’m almost out of Peter Thomas Roth’s glycolic acid moisturizer.
These are the things I’m loving right now:
Herbivore Coco Rose body scrub
Biossance eye cream
Drunk Elephant B-Hydra Serum
Ren Flash Hydro Boost
Sol de Janeiro Bum-bum cream
Nice list!!
I am trying really hard not to buy Tom Ford’s Soleil Blanc. It is so expensive but addictive!
How close is it to Bronxe Goddess and Guerlain’s Terracotta?
I can’t stand Bronze Goddess, I gave my bottle away. I’ve never smelled Guerlain’s Terracotta
Soleil Blanc is also on my list, but I noticed that they have an “all-over body spray” now for $65. I’m sure the staying power is less than stellar, but for saving $160 plus 15%, I think I might be okay with that!
I will have to check out the body spray.
FYI – I read very recently that the body sprays and oils have minimal staying power and not worth it
I have had my wish list planned out for a couple of weeks waiting on this! I probably won’t end up getting everything on my wishlist below (because $$$) but I’ve been holding back lately so we’ll see. I usually pick up a fragrance during this sale too, but I haven’t found anything lately that wows me, so unless I find something in store I may skip that.
NEW STUFF:
Viseart Palettes – I want 4 (cool matte, neutral matte, warm matte, paris nude) but will probably cut it down to 2
Caudalie Vine[Activ] Overnight Detox Night Oil
Yuni SWEAT, REFRESH, GO Healthy, Portable Workout Essentials
GUERLAIN L’Or Pure Radiance Face Primer
Dior Addict Lacquer Stick – Lazy
Milk Eye Pigment – Hotel Lobby, Jam Room, Rave (I have Hotel Lobby and Peep Show and LOVE THEM)
Kat Von D Everlasting Lip Liner – Lolita, Lovecraft
RESTOCKS:
Roloxin LIFT Instant Wrinkle Smoothing Mask
Marc Jacobs Enamored Hi-Shine Lip Lacquer Lipgloss – Love Buzz
Tatcha Luminous Deep Hydration Firming Serum
Tatcha The Essence Plumping Skin Softener
Tatcha Luminous Deep Hydration Lifting Mask
Ouai Texturizing Hair Spray
Bumble and bumble Surf Foam Spray Blow Dry
Nice list you have going so far, Melissa! Can’t wait to see what you end up getting in the end.
This is only if you can wait but on the Viseart eyeshadow palettes, [ https://musebeauty.pro/ ] – I only know it popped up around the holiday season towards the end of the year but perhaps they will do it sporadically throughout, but they had a really good deal on those palettes.
You get 2 of the Viseart eyeshadow palettes for about $120 (give or take exact number) so based on that you saved about $40 bucks and you get free shipping. So it really is a good deal. If you can wait haha. 🙂
Good call, I completely forgot about that! I think I’ve got plenty of other fun stuff on my list and can hold out until later this year for the palettes to save a little more $$$. Thanks!!!
Anytime 😀
Glad I read this before I commented, for obvious reasons. That was prob Christine’s best money saving tip ever! I’m waiting. Melissa, you can’t go wrong with twofers on HE palettes like Viseart. Plus, they threw in some brushes.
I personally haven’t had much luck with Tatcha for my face in the sample arena. They have a lot of silicones and my skin looks great for a few days and then it clogs up even if I’m being on top of exfoliants. I use their Dewy Skin Mist as a primer!
I have had no luck with Herbivore, I’ve tried two products, the moon fruit and the lapis. Lapis is fine for day but it wasn’t like revolutionary. Moonfruit was a total dud.
DE seems to have good products from my tests so far, my favorite so far are the babyfacial and the c-firma.
For me, I have planned to get the C Firma, some Bite prismatic glosses, and the CR Robin Masque. I was considering the baby facial and stocking up on some staples from Sunday Riley and Fresh, but I’m pretty well stocked on those things, so they can wait until the fall.
I was considering the new CEO serum from Sunday Riley but the DE serum has ferments in it and some things that help vit c do it’s job, vitamin f for example, so I’m thinking overall it will be better for me.
I was hoping the new NARS collection would be out in Sephora by then, but NOPE!
I used to think I had issues with silicones, but I don’t think that I do or else my skin has just changed over time! Bummer to hear that Herbivore’s been a miss for you!
Girl, you really have done your AB/KB research! Go, ferments.
My wishlist – the Tarte Make Believe in Yourself eyeshadow palette (why they call it a “face and eye” palette is beyond me…just one highlight shade doesn’t really make it “face”), Nars Rue Allent (is that the name – the new duo) if it’s arrived in store by then, and it wouldn’t be a bad idea to get the Foreo face thing I’d really like, though I think my kids are hoping to buy it for me for Xmas so I will probably just wait.
I know that the NARS’ collection isn’t supposed to be in Sephora until May 1st, but you never know!
lol your wishlist is all skincare
That does seem to be the trend nowadays!
Brands like Glossier really focus on skincare before makeup.
Would you ever consider reviewing skincare, Christine?
I do review skincare, I just don’t do so very often 🙂
Only a small purchase for me, as I’m on a budget. I’d like to get the Bite multiple set that came out a couple weeks ago and possibly a travel size of the Clinique Moisture Surge.
I think I’m only picking up replacement SR Luna and Good Genes like usual. I’m nearly ready to crack open new bottles of each, so getting my ne t round now is perfect. I’ve also got a MUFE lip primer and Briogeo shampoo in my cart, but don’t know if they’ll make it through to purchase.
Just found the Blue Tansy is on dermstore for their 20% off natural sale right now
http://www.dermstore.com/lp/natural-beauty
Drunk elephant is included in the sale too!
Thanks Connie! Too bad dermstore doesn’t have and DE trial size sets. The set I had in my Sephora cart sold out before I checked out.
Thank you!!
Thanks Christine! Is the code one-time use?
Multiple use!
Sephora doesn’t ship to India and there is no store nearby. I loved their combos and esp bobbi brown set of the day. From where can I get them online
All of Drunk Elephant’s items are amazing. I’ve thrown out all other lines of skin cars now. The Juju bar and TLC are my favorites.
I will probably re-up on my Smashbox and BECCA Primers. I am looking to try a NARS powder as I recently purchased a foundation. I am also on the hunt for a blue eye liner for the lower lash line and a cora/peachy lipgloss similar to MAC’s Nymphette.
I have been trying to purchase as much as I can through Ulta because of their reward system, so I only have a few things exclusive to Sephora on my list. I plan to pick up the Tom Ford Soleil Blanc body spray, the Marc Jacobs Face II brush, the Sephora Favorites suncare kit, and the Youth to the People Age Prevention Superfood Cream (I got a sample in a Sephora Play box and think it would make a perfect night cream in the summer).
I’m just using this sale to stock up on products I’m running out of, Kat Von D Ink Liner, Kat Von D Lock-It Foundation, and Benefit Gimme Brow. I’d really like to get Nars Albatross (not the most new or exciting, but I’ve wanted it for a long time!), but I’m going to save my money for the Urban Decay Basquiat release instead.
I don’t have any room in my budget to splurge this year but if I did, I would be getting the new Drunk Elephant moisturizer and stocking up on the Tatcha cleansing oil and AmorePacific enzyme powder. I like the AP one better than the Tatcha one since it’s more finely milled.
Here’s a tip: mix the rice enzyme powder into an oil cleanser and use it to buff your (dry) face for a little bit more exfoliation. In my experience they dissolve too quickly to really exfoliate when applied to a wet face.
Other things on my wishlist: new bronzer, Sephora cream lip stains (my favorite LL formula), and Viseart Dark Mattes!
I only own 2 products from Herbivore – the rose facial mist and the Lapis face oil – but I love them! The Lapis oil is amazing for my combo skin. Very moisturizing and absorbs really well without leaving me greasy. The Rose mist is nice but nothing revolutionary. I would repurchase both.
My list-
DRYBAR Triple Sec 3-in-1
DR. DENNIS GROSS SKINCARE Alpha Beta® Peel Extra Strength Daily Peel
DR. JART+ Premium Beauty Balm SPF 45
NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer
NARS NARSissist Loaded Eyeshadow Palette
KAT VON D Lock-It Foundation
Restock:
HOURGLASS Veil Mineral Primer
Drybar Detox Dry Shampoo
ESTÉE LAUDER Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup
BELIF The True Cream Moisturizing Bomb
BELIF Aqua Favorites Fair
Thank you for the heads-up on the NARS x Charlotte Gainsbourg collection!
Of course, the code is NOT valid for European VIB rouges… We spend thousands of dollars like all the other customers, plus we pay customs and shipping and we cannot get a small percentage off. I’m very pissed off ?
There is only one aspect that S has over U in the spring sale, and that’s the multiuser codes. S seems to have more online only, so that’s a good thing. Plus, can get what I forgot at Ulta. Can’t believe it’s almost May, and I haven’t bought one ex-del thing from Sephora. WL includes KGD aqua, 2 FAB triple duty (1, a gift), the bite trio, agave mask, hourglass mood alp, Ciate fearless palette, KVD Plath, Sanctuary, and petal brightening powder (KGD has aloe, now), a couple of Nars pencils…dirty mind and do me baby, 2 shades of RCC, if the ingredients are ok (insert rant on Sephora for ingredients incomplete/inaccuracy,) the banc de sable, 2 long back burnered l/s that C reviewed well: BB Bond (S used to not carry the shade), Shiseido Bloodstone, and, Besame Blood Red. OTFabout the ABH Aurora palette. But, let me tell you the Zoeva emails have psyched me more. Don’t source any skincare from S, though some meet my needs. Now, it’s Paula, Cosrx, the ordinary, and a few outliers. Keeping it less expensive, and often with fewer ingredients. If you have to suss out culprits for sensitivities, that makes it easier. I always laugh, bec I could wash with Dawn, but can’t use aloe. Hoping that one will go away…even hand sanitizer with aloe reddens/burns but the non-aloe is fine. Wtf, go figure. Happy hauling, everyone!
Yes, multi-use code + Sephora has a very strong selection of exclusive brands (and a stronger house brand than Ulta).
I’m more of a mid-range gal for skincare – I prefer the textures of more expensive creams but rarely buy into lofty marketing so my go-to has been Origins for years. I think the Tatcha face cream is the most expensive skincare item that I’ve repurchased in the last few years.
Yeah, certainly. But Ulta is working their patooties off to bring in more H E brands. Scored my whole Sephora list, including what I forgot at Ulta, except forgot aurora was only abh, for now. Might do a tad more hauling, but don’t really need to. Skincare is covered, except for some ordinary exploration…. when was the beautylish gift card special? Really ought to keep a diary. Funny how you can buy NOTHING for almost 4 months, then jump 1/2 way to rouge in 1/2 hour. Kind of shows how pricey and how much discretionary income we actually spend.
Love+trust Paula, but her Beautipedia has good things to say about Drunk Elephant so I am tempted.
I may pick up a new foundation. The Diorskin in 070 isn’t working for me as I am on my second bottle half way through so I did so more testing and Lancôme and MUFE has some amazing foundations. I’m leaning towards the Lancôme.
I like the tarte lipsticks because they are neutral. I’ve been into nude lipsticks lately so it’s nice to own a few variations. other than that, nothing else has really stood out to me. I did get a deluxe size of the Smashbox liquid legendary lip and I am not 100% on the formula yet.
I am looking for new brushes the Tarte Unicorn Brush set LOOKS pretty but it’s too new to find a good review on them (I’m waiting for you unless you’re not doing one or I missed it).
I got a boscia clay sponge on sale and I LOVE the way it feels on my face so another one of those would be good too.
I feel like if you like Dior, you might like Lancome. Is it the Lancome Teint Idole?
I only hauled the Josie Maran Surreal Skin Argan Finishing Balm because…I guess it was the only thing I really needed, lol! But getting 15% off was nice.
Now, the one that always hurts my wallet is their fall event. But it’s just SO good! I forsee lots of purchases when their 20% off event rolls around!
I ended up buying skincare too, Sunday Riley Power Couple is something exclusive to Sephora and if you do the math breakdown of price per ounce minus 15%, it is a REALLY good deal. Also, I wanted to try Juno Face Oil so I picked the small bottle (also exclusive to Sephora). We’ll see if I bite the bullet for the Hourglass face palette that, if my memory is correct, was released for the holidays and it is still around… not sure if that is so because it is not worth it…
Oh, and I’m on the fence of buying the Clinique cleansing balm (that I’ve used and loved) or the Estee Lauder cleasing balm that has a 4.9 (!!!!) rating on Sephora’s website. Any suggestions?
The fact that Sephora can’t even give a 20% off discount to at least the VIB Rouge is extremely disappointing to me.Everything that I can buy at Ulta with the Platinum 20% off I will be getting from them.Sephora’s rewards program does not do anything special to distinguish VIB from VIB Rouge and I’m kind of getting fed up.There are certain things that are exclusive to Sephora that I use everyday so I will be purchasing a few things but not like I have in the past.I dislike they way Sephora treats their loyal customers.
I have already placed my order to restock my skincare. I have very dry, sensitive skin and my skincare helps my skin significantly. Hopefully I will be set on core skincare (that comes from Sephora) until the autumn sale!
Haul:
Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Complex II (1.7 oz)
Sunday Riley Luna (1 oz)
Sunday Riley Flora (1.18 oz)
Sunday Riley Juno (1.18 oz)
Tarte Maracuja Oil (1.7 oz)
Sephora Favorites Sun Safety Set
Tarte Tarteist Lip Wardrobe Volume II (my fun item)
I’m just not excited about 15 percent. I thought it would be 20 percent.
I might get a Bute Agave Lip Mask and FAB lip balm for when my current ones run out (love layering them in the evenings!) but I think I have to resist the temptation to purchase any color products. I have too many foundations to use up before I consider adding a new one, and I have SO MANY EYESHADOWS! Lipstick is a new thing for me, but I’m pretty stocked up…maybe one item if it is a very unique formulation or exceptionally flattering shade I don’t yet have. After a VERY disappointing tube of Lancôme Hypnose Drama, I’m sticking with drugstore mascara for the time being, and using some samples I found that I haven’t used. I still have plenty of Anastasia brow pomade, I have a good number of brushes, and I’m pretty good on skincare, as I’ve been a Deciem junkie, and can get Drunk Elephant TLC from other websites for more of a discount.
All that said, I’m going to the store tomorrow…so it might be hard to resist an impulse purchase! Then again, makeup that doesn’t get used is just taking up space and collecting dust, and the more I have, the less each item can get used before it goes bad.
I started out with several Bite and UD lipsticks in my cart before convince myself I could postpone gratification until the fall 20% sale. In the end, I bought from the sale dept the Sephora filter palettes and Bite plum/opal. I also bought a Tria skin laser that I resisted buying last year so I could apply the purchase towards my status next year. I almost switched to buying from Tria directly since they’re offering 20%, but Sephora won by a slim margin after 15%+Ebates 4%+points+future status discounts.
UD X Jean-Michel Basquiat Collection available now @Sephora Canada (early access on Sephora App). The VIB Rouge discount I have does not apply to the items from these collection. It applied however to the other items I had in my cart (not part of this collection).
The VIB Rouge discount finally applied to JM Basquiat collection as well.
Thanks for the tip! I was able to pick up what I wanted from the collection at a discount.
Your’re welcome Mags !
15% off haul:
Drybar’s new Detox Whipped dry shampoo foam, Benefit Dandelion Twinkle, Josie Maran Whipped Argan Oil body butter in Juicy Mango and Sephora Collection Both Eyes Shut contoured sleep mask (I hate sleep masks that lay too hard on my eyes).
Let the fun begin: I placed 2 separate orders on-line yesterday for different items splitting up my choices for the Rouge sale, and one has already been cancelled due to stock issues. How much do you want to bet the second one will end up in same fate as I see one item is currently out of stock. I absolutely cannot see the point of early access when S clearly cannot maintain or track their inventory. Every single sale they have had sees this happen.
I think it’s ridiculous that they cancel an order if one thing is out of stock!
They once cancelled one of my orders because a sample was out of stock. No joke.
Wow!! That’s awful! 🙁
correction: sorry, Christine..it was one of those codes for a promo product. The order went through was confirmed and then subsequently cancelled.
I definitely recommend The Ordinary’s Squalene oil when you run out of the Biossance one. It’s a steal for $7.90, and it actually works. I usually get flaky around the cheek/chin area during the winter, and this helped me avoid that!
I only bought one thing and it was Coco Chanel Mademoiselle perfume. I don’t necessarily need any makeup at the moment as I’m actually good for a while. I’ve wanted to get this particular one because my boyfriend adores me wearing it. I thought I should get it anyway. I’m excited for it to arrive very soon!!
Any recs for best makeup remover wipes? I’d prefer if they were from a cruelty free brand, but honestly I’m getting a little desperate in this particular category! The Sephora brand has SO MANY options in this category but they aren’t cruelty free. But the Green Tea ones sound very nice. I see Christine has put the coconut water ones in her selections…?
Hey Lindsay,
I’m not familiar with the status of all brands, so here are the best wipes I’ve tried (generally speaking) but am pretty sure most of these either belong to a parent that tests or sells in China —
MAC Wipes for face makeup (they can sting the eyes–they actually say don’t use them on eyes!)
Neutrogena Wipes (all over)
Sephora Wipes (all over)
philosophy Wipes (pretty good for removing makeup)
Koh Gen Do (very good but very expensive if you use daily)
Shea Moisture African Black Soap Wipes (better for light makeup days or initial removal)
La Fresh (these are biodegradable, which is a bonus, they’re decent to good for light to moderate makeup)
Have you considered using something like makeup remover rounds and a makeup remover instead?
Thanks for the reply Christine! I’m okay with supporting brands who have a parent company who sell in China or test, I sort of think of it like a “vote” for the cruelty free brands. But again, for some reason remover wipes have been a difficult category for me to find cruelty free + effective. Thank you so much for the recs! I had been looking at Koh Gen Do earlier bc they did have a good rating despite being pricey. The Shea Moisture brand may be one to check out too!
Christine, I immediately placed an order for several items in the NAR’s Charlotte G release after seeing your post on the 19th. My order was accepted but I never got an email that the items were shipped, nor was I alerted that my order was cancelled. Do you (or anyone else) know what’s going on with the NAR’s Charlotte G release?
My guess is NARS got wind of it and had the products pulled!
