Sephora Ultra Shine Lip Gel ($14.00 for 0.11 fl. oz.) is supposed to be “inspired by gel nail polishes” with an “ultra-light” texture and hydrating formula. My experience with them (across six shades, the other three to be reviewed separately) is that they’re semi-opaque to mostly opaque with a slight translucency that gives them a squishy, jelly-like look. They’re lightweight, comfortable to wear, and mostly non-sticky. I haven’t noticed a taste, but there is a sweet vanilla, almost caramel-like scent (it is a little on the synthetic side, but I don’t notice the scent when I’m wearing it). Despite having a smoother, mostly non-sticky feel, the formula has decent wear time (three to five hours) and is hydrating. All in all, it’s a nice formula that outdoes a lot of the more recently released new gloss formulas on the market–and at a fraction of the cost. One thing to note, though, is despite seeming like quite a big tube of gloss, it contains only 0.11 fl. oz. It also has an interesting hourglass-shaped applicator, where it is curved inversely and can fit the curve of the lip. I also wish Sephora would add actual color descriptions, especially to indicate which shades have shimmer.
Sephora Rose Petal (05) Ultra Shine Lip Gel ($14.00 for 0.11 fl. oz.) is a muted, medium, neutral-to-warm-toned pink with a cream finish. It had semi-opaque color coverage that covered evenly but had some noticeable settling into lip lines. The glossy finish distracts from it overall, but it is an issue. On me, this shade lasted for three and a half hours and was hydrating. Becca Lychee/Topaz (P, $24.00) is more shimmery, cooler-toned. Becca Guava/Opal (P, $24.00) is warmer, more shimmery. Urban Decay Failbait (P, $22.00) is darker. MAC Light English Red (LE, $30.00) is lighter. MAC Bijou (LE, $15.00) is lighter. Dior Tiny Pink (269) (P, $35.00) is brighter. NARS Belize (P, $26.00) is similar. Maybelline Caramel Infused (065) (P, $8.99) is slightly darker. NYX Maple Blondie (P, $5.00) is lighter. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.
Sephora Deep Rose (06) Ultra Shine Lip Gel ($14.00 for 0.11 fl. oz.) is a muted, medium-dark pink-plum with cool undertones and fine gold shimmer. It had semi-opaque color payoff that went on evenly and looked fairly smooth. The shimmer is noticeable but doesn’t turn the gloss frosted or metallic, so if you aren’t a big fan of shimmer, you may still like it. It wore well for four and a half hours and was hydrating over time. MAC Domestic Diva (LE, $15.00) is more shimmery, brighter. Make Up For Ever 405P Pearly Plum (P, $19.00) is warmer. Bite Beauty Ten (Watercolor) (LE) is lighter, less shimmery. Maybelline Lust for Mauve (535) (P, $8.99) is warmer. NARS Corsica (LE, $26.00) is slightly more opaque. MAC Seeking Adoration (LE, $20.00) is cooler-toned. MAC Spontaneous (LE, $20.00) is lighter. MAC Private Party (LE, $20.00) is sheerer. Urban Decay Flushed (P, $19.00) is lighter. NARS Oasis (P, $25.00) is sheerer. MAC Richly Revered (LE, $20.00) is darker, less shimmery. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.
Sephora Fresh Peach (07) Ultra Shine Lip Gel ($14.00 for 0.11 fl. oz.) is a coral-pink with warm undertones and a lot of lighter golden peach shimmer. It had semi-sheer to semi-opaque pigmentation as the base color blends with the natural lip color a lot, but the shimmer is very noticeable. The shimmer is incredibly fine, so I never felt the texture of it, even as the gloss wore down. It lasted for four hours and was moisturizing. Make Up For Ever 302P Golden Coral (P, $19.00) is less shimmery. Buxom Chloe (P, $19.00) is less shimmery. MAC Water Deities (LE, $15.00) is warmer. NARS Orgasm (P, $26.00) is less shimmery. MAC Flare for Fantasy (LE, $20.00) is less shimmery. Urban Decay Freestyle (P, $20.00) is less shimmery. Revlon Peach (P, $7.49) is similar. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

I bet Deep Rose will be sold out *really* soon. LOL
Haha! 🙂
where is mango!? :O
Hi Jess!
As noted in the review, this is a review for three shades with the other three being reviewed at a later time.
oh i missed that haha. wups.
That’s interesting how long the staying power is. It looks like a gloss and I can’t wrap my mind around it staying on that long. Does it hold up to eating and drinking? If so, I’d like to try these out. I like Sephora brand lip products anyway!
It’s not like a lipstick where you’re going to come away with most of the gloss on if you’re eating/drinking, though some color survives. A long-wearing gloss on me is six hours, just as a FYI! These have good wear, but really long-wear is closer to six for me. 🙂
Deep Rose is really pretty, I’d definitely wear that one.
It is!
Fresh Peach and Deep rose are gorgeous! Yay! I have been eyeing these in Sephora! I have been looking for something similar to Urban Decay’s Failbait that doesn’t settle into lip lines. But, I cannot seem to find it. Any suggestions? Do you think Nars Belize is the closest I am going to find that performs well? Looking lovely and summery in your pics here Christine! 🙂
I think Belize might pull into lip lines a bit, but it is a thinner gloss so it may not!
I think I’m passing then. I am liking the new thick ones. I’ll continue my quest! Lol
That gold shimmer in Deep Rose adds a litle somethin’ to an otherwise very dupe-able color – very pretty!
It does!
Oh wow! These are so pretty! I’ve been eyeing some more expensive glosses with gold shimmer as a topper for my lippies, will have to check these out. Thanks for review! I keep forgetting Sephora brand has some good stuff
These could totally work for that!
Deep rose is my favorite, I’ll be picking it up next time I’m at Sephora. Thanks for the swatches Christine!
No problem, Aj!
I love these! They remind me a lot of the new dior brilliance glosses. I think either 5 or 6 is similar in color to dior swan. Will you be able to review dior?
Oh, that is good to hear! 🙂
I did see a few darker reds and other cots that may work well for me! I’m happy you did this review so I can see how they perform! I really like the jelly thing like I said before! It makes lips look smoother. And again, each color is gorgeous on you! So many reviews.. Thanks for keeping up and busting this out! 😀 12,999 to go! 😉
Fingers crossed for ya, Lotus! 🙂
Ooo, Rose Petal is a beaut.
It is! 🙂
Deep Rose looks great on you! You should try the Sephora lip creams… Strawverry Kissed is one of my favorite lipstick ever!
Thanks for the suggestion!
Looks like Sephora has been quietly taking us by storm lately. People have been discovering a lot of great new products lately. I’ve been enjoying the cream lip stains so I definitely want to try these soon. Deep Rose looks like a nice everyday gloss
They’re nice for a gloss! 🙂 Not too sheer, not too thick or heavy.
I’m not overly wowed by these though deep rose is nice.
I like the coverage of this line!
love that gold shimmer in Fresh Peach. Thanks for posting these swatches. I’ve glanced over these a few times on Sephora’s website, but seeing them on real lips is so much better
No problem, Ceranna!
I like the look of Deep Rose.
I really loved that one – it’s so easy to wear.
These look very nice. I want Deep Rose and Fresh Peach. I like shimmery glosses 🙂
Me too! 😀 I need some shimmer!
Rose Petal is too milky-looking for my tastes, but Deep Rose and Fresh Peach are very pretty. All are very dupeable, though, I think.
Deep Rose is lovely!
These are quite lovely! I especially love Fresh Peach, but as a topper, because I’m not to keen on wearing super sparkly shades without a lipstick underneath. My lips are just a bit too pigmented.
Fresh Peach would be great for layering!
Definitely a formula to look for next time I’m near a Sephora! Not keen on the Petal one but the other two are nice.
They’re a surprise – just a nice, solid gloss.
Deep Rose and Fresh Peach are lovely! I am already impressed with many of Sephora’s products and now these… I’m soon going to need a half day to visit their store at this rate *sigh*
lol! Hope these impress you, too, when you get to trying them! 🙂
I generally avoid lip glosses due to the short wear and lack of pigment but based on these reviews and pictures, I might just give this a try. I like that Deep Rose color and with wear time measured in hours, that might be decent enough to satisfy me. They look great on you! All the colors look very flattering!
Keep me posted if you try ’em, Kelly!
