Sephora Ultra Shine Lip Gels
Sephora Glossy Pink (16) Ultra Shine Lip Gel ($14.00 for 0.11 fl. oz.) is a brightened, light-medium fuchsia pink with cool, blue undertones and fine gold pearl. It had mostly opaque color coverage that applied evenly for the most part, but the milky quality of the gloss caused it to pull into lip lines. The color lasted for five and a half hours and was hydrating while worn. Bite Beauty Eleven (Watercolor) (LE, ) is darker, more muted. Urban Decay Scandal (P, $22.00) is darker. Estee Lauder Rosy Future (LE, $26.00) is darker. Urban Decay Savage (P, $22.00) is less shimmery, more muted. MAC Unlimited Style (LE, $15.00) is lighter. Hourglass Ballet (P, $28.00) is less shimmery, darker. NYX Sugar Cookie (P, $5.00) is less shimmery. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.
Sephora Pin-up Pink (17) Ultra Shine Lip Gel ($14.00 for 0.11 fl. oz.) is a muted, light-medium fuchsia pink with cool, blue undertones and a jelly-like finish. It had semi-sheer color coverage that looked like a glossy stain, so it didn’t look as even as other shades, but it didn’t sit in lip lines too noticeably. It only wore for three hours but was still moisturizing. MAC Call Me Gorgeous (LE, $20.00) is more shimmery, cooler. Dior Hollywood (688) (P, $35.00) is brighter. Maybelline Opalescent Orchid (515) (P, $8.99) is more shimmery, lighter. Revlon Fuchsia Finery (P, $7.99) is warmer. Revlon Berry Allure (P, $7.99) is less glossy. Revlon Pink Pop (P, $7.99) is warmer. Revlon Berry Allure (P, $7.99) is less glossy. MAC Loud & Lovely (P, $20.00) is lighter. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.
Sephora Raspberry Punch (21) Ultra Shine Lip Gel ($14.00 for 0.11 fl. oz.) is a muted, medium fuchsia with a jelly-like finish. It had nearly translucent coverage, and the texture of the gloss is incredibly thick and gel-like; it’s as if it’s missing an ingredient, because it’s more like petroleum jelly than your typical gloss. It still darkened the natural lip color with a stained-like coverage and a high-gloss finish, but it wore away after two hours. It wasn’t hydrating. MAC Call Me Gorgeous (LE, $20.00) is darker, cooler. Tarte Indulging (LE, ) is lighter, brighter. MAC Loud & Lovely (P, $20.00) is lighter. MAC Ceremonial (LE, $20.00) is more shimmery, lighter. MAC Vibrant Vibe (P, $22.00) is lighter. Revlon Pink Pop (P, $7.99) is lighter, brighter. Revlon Fuchsia Finery (P, $7.99) is cooler. NARS Mezmer (LE, $26.00) is brighter. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.
Sephora Fuchsia Fiesta (22) Ultra Shine Lip Gel ($14.00 for 0.11 fl. oz.) is a raspberry red with cool, blue undertones and a jelly-like finish. It had semi-opaque coverage that went on evenly but emphasized lip lines as the color tended to pull into them. This shade wore well for five hours and was hydrating over time. Giorgio Armani #523 (P, $29.00) is darker, brighter. MAC Hopelessly Devoted (LE, $20.00) is brighter, cooler. MAC Glam (LE, $15.00) is brighter. Dior Mona Lisette (872) (LE, $35.00) is brighter. MAC Pleasant (LE, $20.00) is lighter, brighter. Burberry Oxblood No. 23 (P, $29.00) is darker. Dior Soho (888) (P, $35.00) is lighter, cooler. Maybelline Radiant Ruby (530) (P, $8.99) is more muted. Dior Rose Harpers (766) (P, $35.00) is less glossy. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.
Sephora Cougar Red (27) Ultra Shine Lip Gel ($14.00 for 0.11 fl. oz.) is a slightly muted, medium red with warmer undertones and a jelly-like finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation that covered the lips evenly with very minor settling into the lip lines. The gloss lasted for five and a half hours, left a very slight stain behind, and was moisturizing while worn. Revlon Fatal Apple (P, $7.99) is warmer. Chanel Exces (P, $32.00) is warmer. Urban Decay Assassin (P, $22.00) is darker. NARS Shade IV (LE, $26.00) is more shimmery. NARS Rose Gitane (P, $26.00) is warmer. NARS Scandal (P, $26.00) is lighter, warmer. MAC Wake Up! (P, $22.00) is lighter, warmer. Bite Beauty Seven (Watercolor) (LE, ) is warmer. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.
Formula Summary: It is supposed to be “inspired by gel nail polishes” with an “ultra-light” texture and hydrating formula. They’re semi-opaque to mostly opaque with a slight translucency that gives them a squishy, jelly-like look. They’re lightweight, comfortable to wear, and mostly non-sticky. I haven’t noticed a taste, but there is a sweet vanilla, almost caramel-like scent (it is a little on the synthetic side, but I don’t notice the scent when I’m wearing it). Despite having a smoother, mostly non-sticky feel, the formula has decent wear time (three to five hours) and is hydrating. All in all, it’s a nice formula that outdoes a lot of the more recently released new gloss formulas on the market–and at a fraction of the cost–when the shade is more pigmented, but when it is sheerer (especially the lighter shades), there is often settling into lip lines. One thing to note, though, is despite seeming like quite a big tube of gloss, it contains only 0.11 fl. oz. It has an interesting hourglass-shaped applicator, where it is curved inversely and can fit the curve of the lip.

Intriguing formula! Too bad the quality isn’t quite perfect.
When they’re good, they’re REALLY good! But there are misses.
Wow, looks like a mixed bag here. They all look great on you though, and LOVE Jellyfish on your cheeks! I
LOL! I bought these other ones after enjoying the first twelve or whatever, and then I was like, “Man, I had previously escaped some of the worst!”
Out of this batch, the only one I would actually buy at this point would be Glossy Pink. I am a sucker for gold shimmer! And at least this one appears opaque enough to wear w/out lipstick on underneath.
I gotta say that Raspberry Punch really DOES look like tinted vaseline, you called it like it is! LoL
It’s interesting that it delivered as much color as it did, but I was more confused by the texture being sooooo much thicker.
It would be confusing for me too! Reminds me of really old school lipglosses, like 70’s-80’s!
I absolutely love how raspberry lunch looks in the tube!!! D9
Yay!
Seems like many of the dupes are so much better than these!
I had a look at these in store – the first thing that stood out to me was the fragrance. I guess its a matter of personal preference, but it was too strong and synthetic for my liking. Too bad, because some of the colors were beautiful! Cougar Red looks so pretty on you!
I’m so sad that these look so bright and beautiful in the tube, but are so sheer on the lips. Glossy Pink is the only one that’s even half decent, and I think it needs a pencil or lipstick under it.
Passing on all of these. If Glossy pink didn’t settle in lip lines like that,I would buy it right now. I have bought all of these that review well. They really can be good. I wish they were consistent!
Christine, it’s so good to see you review the sephora collections. I think they have really good products and yet people never talk about them or at least I didn’t hear much about them. You should definitely try the sephora baked blush duos and the cream blushes. I think they are amazing and I would love to hear your thoughts about them!
This is definitely a line you shouldn’t buy online. The differences between the shades is a bit much. If I bought the first one and loved it I would have been sorely disappointed trying to order more lol. The rest of them don’t look too hot
Pin Up Pink and that blush are sooo flattering on you!
Mostly this post is making me wish Colour Pop were available in the UK, lol. None of the lippies appeal much.
Aw, some are sheer where I expected them to be opaque. The opaque ones are pretty, though!! <3
