Sara Happ The Lip Slip

Sara Happ The Lip Slip ($24.00 for 0.5 oz.) is an ultra rich potted lip balm that will wear as the day is long. Quite possibly one of the longest wearing balms I’ve come across, but also the stickiest product I have ever tried. It has a smooth, glide-on texture, but it is so very tacky. If you thought MAC Lipglass was tacky, you’re in for a surprise. The stickiness inevitably has a hand in how well and long this wears (overnight). Though it looks pink in the jar, it’s colorless with very faint micro-shimmer (that is more reflective than noticeable). Lip Slip smells like roses but doesn’t have a taste.

The outer packaging is adorable, and the bow is certainly a nice touch, but I don’t think the actual potted balm is as decadent as the outer packaging. It’s just a plastic screw-top jar that feels a little clunky when you screw it on. At $24, I would expect more elevated packaging–not just a pretty box.

christine, have you ever thought about showing a dollop of skincare on the tip of your finger/back of the hand to show the texture? 🙂 or how much comes off on your finger when you just tap the top of it, or something like that! i don’t find mac lipglasses uncomfortable at all, so i wonder if this’ll be worth tracking down… is it like glue though?!

I’m just not crazy about balms, glosses, etc. in pots – they’re a pain to use. I prefer something in a stick, a squeezy tube or a tube with a built in applicator brush/doe-foot.

I prefer them that way, too – so I can use them wherever and whenever and not worry about my fingers being clean or whatnot. This is REALLY sticky, too, so you can’t just wipe it off on your hand or anything. I did like Philosophy’s Kiss Me Intense, which is a potted balm, but to make it to my personal rotation, tubes are definitely the way to go.

I bought this looking for a replacement for my Pout superbalm which I used religiously every night. This isn’t even close. Tacky is the best word I can think of to describe it. I’m not crazy about this balm at all. But I paid so much for it that I will use it till it’s gone. The lip scrub however is fabulous. I’m completely obsessed.

Hah! What an ironic name for the product. I’ve heard of this product before and imagined it as being an ultra creamy/buttery/smooth lip balm. oh welll =/

have this and love this to death! i used it mostly during the night but not because it’s sticky, i just want something which is tinted during the day. Plus, i didn’t find it sticky at all.

I agree with the plastic packaging though, am expecting more than a plastic jar!

I’m surprised this costs $24 considering that most of the ingredients are petroleum products and not anything incredibly innovative – not that it’s a bad thing, just weird to me.

Oh, I LOVE this balm… and I don’t find it sticky at all, compared to many lipglosses (and I *hate* lipglosses, I’m a lipstick girl all the way). I usually put it on just a thin layer with a lip brush though… maybe that’s why? I wear it with my HG Soapalaya Soaps Green Tea Lip Butter and it’s done my lips absolute wonders since I moved to a colder climate. It’s the only thing that lasts all night on my lips too, way better than Aquaphor.

Thanks for posting the ingredients! Thats how I came across this site.

I absolutely love this product and I disagree with how sticky it is. I feel like its thick but smooth. I apply it with my finger and then I just rub the rest on to the back of my hand. I have bought it twice because first of all it takes two years to go through and I love it so much I had to run out of it before i lost it because its always with me!

I lose and replace my glosses so often because they are not good or long lasting.
I feel every one needs to try it and they will love it! Its like a must have for every girl because its long wearing, makes your lips feel moist and soft and just super luxurious!!

I can kiss my boyfriend and he doesn’t complain about the sticky lip feeling and there is still some left on my lips!! LOL
