Round-up: MAC x Bao Bao Wan Collection Overview & Thoughts

MAC x Bao Bao Wan Collection Overview

The MAC x Bao Bao Wan Collection is available in-store today, though it has mostly sold out online. I’ve now finished reviewing all of the products I had to test from this collection (I do not have the nail polishes), so hopefully the reviews help you determine whether tracking down a particular product is worth it or if some of the dupes may make more sense. The colors and finishes of the collection are gorgeous, even if some products could have been better executed. The lipsticks were the “standout,” though they’re shades we have seen before.

A bit disappointed they aren’t selling it my local Mac. At least I own dodgy girl so I don’t really need another lavender lipstick even though this one looks nicer and more lavender than dd, plus I also own NYX power.

I received Summer Opal in the mail last night and it is beautiful. After first I didn’t think it would work on my NW48 skin tone, but when I saw FaniceLand swatch it, I knew I had to have it.

I’m loving the new round-up post lay-out! You guys have done some great work with the design lately! 🙂

I’m loving this collection, and hoping to find the nail polishes in store when I take a trip down south next month!

Bummer, the products that reviewed well have colors that don’t suit me, but kudos to MAC for collaborating with an Asian talent/celebrity/role model in this collection. When I was growing up, I didn’t remember seeing too many Asians or other ethnicities being featured in makeup ads, much less makeup campaigns. Good thing times have changed. I like the promo pic of Bao Bao Wan -she’s looking quite fierce and sexy.

I probably shouldn’t even comment, since I no longer buy MAC, but the only item that appeals to me from this collection is the “Lavender Jade” lipstick, because it looks like a pinker version of “Lavender Whip,” which I love but find rather difficult to wear without looking ill.

I have pretty much given up on getting any of the ‘good stuff’ from the MAC collections. They all sell out too quickly and it’s not worth dealing with the slow website when they’re first released. That lavender lipstick is lovely, but for no hassle, I’ll go with one of the 6 purple shades from Colourpop – or since they’re $5 apiece, all 6!!!

I managed to place an order on Burmese Kiss before it sold out, and now the only thing you can get in Australia is Forbidden Sunrise. I’m a little surprised it’s still available, but I guess with summer officially over here, we’re starting to gravitate towards other shades!

This is the first collection in awhile that I really like. The colors are so lovely and rich and compliment each other quite well. It’s a bit of a capsule collection. Beautiful items! Packaging is also classy.

PS. LOVE LOVE LOVE the new format Christine! It’s so streamlined.

Our mac pro came with the whole collect except for lavender jade. I ws put on a wait list for It.
I’m crazy about the color because it’s just different.i have tons of oranges and corals but no lavender in my collection. The last lavender I cam remember was from the Mac shop/cook collection.

I’m starting to feel a bit burned by all the MAC collections! They come so quickly and sell out so quickly. I’m happy this one was mostly a success but it feels like there isn’t enough to time to really judge or see before its all scooped up due to hype.

i already own a MAC Mineralize Skinfinish (Soft and Gentle) and keep trying to convince myself there’s just no point in getting another one, since they’re all going to show up the same on my NC20 skin. But Summer Opal is still beckoning to me. D= It doesn’t help that I think the packaging for this collection is very beautiful too.

I purchase all 4 of the lipsticks all except the nude are excellent!! The beauty powder is wonderful for my NC50 skintone as a highlighter. All in all I am very pleased with this collection. It’s a shame they are not widely available in stores…Lately I’m finding MAC to be very irritating. Their limited collections sell out in lightning speed (the Cinderella collection practically sold out the 1st day)… I really wanted this collection, luckily I happened to be on the website the moment it launched, but that’s not usually the case… most of the time I miss out on their collections.

i called to the macys and mac stores in LA, they said both of the collections are sold out on first day and they don’t carry in anymore. So sad that i didnt get the cinderella beauty powder and the lavender jade
