Round-up: Chanel Fall 2014 Collection Overview & Thoughts
Chanel Fall 2014 Collection
Chanel kicked off fall collections with Etats Poetiques that featured a bold promo look with rich pink, purple, and gold. I found the collection to be disappointing as almost everything was lacking in quality, though certainly some products were decent to good, but nothing was excellent and a few products were very poor performing.
- BEST PERFORMING: Viva (95) Rouge Coco Shine (A-), Orage (631) Le Vernis (A-)
- WORST PERFORMING: Exaltation (108) Soft Touch Eyeshadow (F), Innocence (160) Joues Contraste (D)
- MOST UNIQUE: Orage (631) Le Vernis (A-), Songe (191) Glossimer (B+)

hi christine!! thankyou very much for this review! i wrote before that i really didn’t care for this collection. anyway, i’m just starting to enjoy summer collections. question….will you be reviewing bobbi brown’s new sand and surf collection? i think it just was put out on counter. xxxxxooooo
Sorry, I don’t have anything from Bobbi Brown right now!
Sorry, I don’t blame you. 😉
Smh @ those eyeshadow grades. It’s a shame the colors are so pretty!
I hear ya!
Love the report card feature! New?
When it makes sense to include, yes! 🙂
Random note: I copied the campaign look from this collection 🙂 I just loved the purple and yellow eye look!
How fun! 🙂
Saved me a bundle thanks to your reviews, Christine. So disappointing when a luxury brand lowers its own prestige by coming out with poor quality stuff.
Always happy to save someone a bit o’ money 🙂
I’m usually so excited for Chanel collections so it’s really too bad these didn’t perform better! I am tempted to still purchase Confident Rouge Coco Shine, but will probably pass on Atmosphere nail polish due to your review (I was hoping it’d perform better!). Thanks for saving my wallet on this collection, Christine!!
No problem, Carolyn! Look forward to seeing what you end up buying!
Oooh. I still think it’s WAY too early for fall collections, but this collection looks awesome with all of the products hanging out together!
July was too early for me before, June is DEFINITELY too early!!
This collection is such a mixed bag! I really like the colour combination, and I’m glad the Viva lipstick turned out so well, but it’s such a shame about the eyeshadows! I’m secretly glad that they didn’t release a new cream blush, LOL! It probably would have been the highlight of the collection, but if they had screwed up one of those somehow it would have broken my heart!
LOL! I wish they did, if only for some redemption!!!
Not the best quality in this collection, considering it’s chanel.
And there’s no way to justify lack of quality at this price point!
Viva looks promising
thanks for the round up ,definitely helps in deciding much ahead 🙂
You’re welcome, Krithi!
I decided to put this comment with the Chanel fall round-up, too. Love the report card feature. with your chanel fall roundup.
But the chanel dupe Accessoire (for Nars Other Side) to ME is what chanel stands for: balance and REFINEMENT, with good quality. It really shows in those comparison nail swatches. Not only has the quality been lacking of late in their product, but they’ve definitely dropped a few notches in refinement. They don’t seems to do ‘inventive’ as well as they do ‘classic.’
I don’t know if it’s because brands like Chanel are deliberately muting and playing down bolder shades (say the pink eyeshadow) to make them “more wearable” or if they just somehow lack the right stuff to do it well.
methinks the latter. from what i think of C, it IN NO WAY competes with UD, but it seems they want to… One cannot compete in all spheres. Chanel does better, when they stick o their core competencies. When they venture outside their comfort zone, not so much. Is or is this not Business 201?
oops. stick ‘to.’ typing was never my forte.
If you’re going to go out of your comfort zone, make sure you look like you gave it a good try at least, lol!
Alright, I’ll sum this up.. Christine made it look good.
You’re too sweet!
This has been quite a disappointing show from CHANEL.. 🙁 ..The eye shadows were the worst… 😛
So sad about all of it!
