Rose Inc Satin Olive/Khaki Shimmer Satin & Shimmer Duet Eyeshadow Review & Swatches
Satin Olive/Khaki Shimmer
Rose Inc Satin Olive/Khaki Shimmer Satin & Shimmer Duet Eyeshadow ($30.00 for 0.1 oz.) includes a sparkling, yellowy-gold powder eyeshadow and a darker green cream eyeshadow. In my experience, neither worked well individually; I had to layer the sparkly powder over the cream eyeshadow to get decent wear out of both, even though they are marketed as being standalone products (as well as to be layered together).

Formula Overview

The powder eyeshadow can be "worn alone or pressed on top of the cream base" for "diffused illumination." The brand described as "pigment-rich" as well, so that's obviously a bit confusing. I would describe these as "topper" eyeshadows as they were heavy on the sparkle and light on the base color, which made them more translucent and perfect for patting on top of the coordinated cream eyeshadow formula but were less functional on their own.
The texture was more loosely-pressed, drier, and definitely fragile (one of mine arrived broken and seemed like it had a lack of binder, as it crumbled easily from there). There was a moderate amount of fallout during application with fingertips or a dry brush when applied to bare skin, and it was most functional when applied over a tacky base.
On their own, the formula lasted between five and six hours on me and had moderate fallout over time.

Formula Overview

The cream formula is supposed to be "buildable" and yield a "sheer wash" or layered for "more saturated color." The brand described as "pigment-rich" as well, so that's obviously a bit confusing. The texture was emollient, lightly tacky, and spreadable, and it didn't have a full dry down for me, which made it more prone to settling into fine lines.
On me, I had the best luck using it as a wash of color rather than layered, as the more I applied, the more likely it was to crease very quickly. With a sheerer layer, it creased within five hours on me.
When sold as a duo, this formula is coordinated by a sparkly powder eyeshadow, which applied well over the cream product to enhance the overall longevity and minimize creasing to more of a six to seven hour range, but neither product functioned well individually for me.

Oh, heck no! Not when I have a SLEW of gorgeous olive shimmer, metallic and matte eyeshadows already that out-perform this duo in a heartbeat!
The two shadows layered together actually look lovely in your photo. What a shame that they’re not better quality on their own or even layered, I’m guessing… The short wear-time, creasing and fallout are all inexcusable!
This could have been a beautiful sage and olive green duo, but the formula makes it such a dud.
I like the colour of the olive green. I don’t need eyeshadows that doesn’t set, and on top of that settles into fine lines.
$30 is on the expensive side, and at that cost is should be flawless.
I didn’t realize that the brand was owned or fronted by Rosie Huntington Whitely. Figures – another “personality” with no real background in makeup (except for wearing it and promoting it) or chemisty sticking their name on a brand. Although this particular duo has some good reviews on Sephora’s site, I’m more likely to trust “non-incentivized” Christine’s review!
