Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: 2x Tom Ford Eyeshadow Quads
Weekend plans: I’ve been making a big push on getting through some products to photograph/swatch (did that all day yesterday), get sneak peeks ready (all this morning), and spending the rest of the time writing reviews.
What are you looking forward to in March? Seeing Bri’s babies open their eyes and ears!
Psst… since it’s Friday and we’re heading into the weekend, if you have some downtime, consider playing one of the games hubby and I have created! 🙂 You’ll find all of our games on Awordy, but here’s a breakdown of what we have so far:
- Adoptle (guess the name of an adoptable pet in six guesses)
- Concludle (figure out the subject within six clues)
- Mislettered (guess one letter at a time to figure out the phrase/quote)
- Word Frenzy (find as many words from the letters available before the shark devours them)
This week's doggo photo/video...
Share your pet photos to the Temptalia Pets flickr group!
All of those little steaklets look adorable and cuddly as can be, but if my apt complex didn’t have a STUPID rule against specific dog breeds, even mixes, Skirt would be my 💗 Dog! I even know what I would rename her, too!
Purchases/rediscoveries: Placed 2 separate Sephora orders, the second due to an eyeshadow disaster involving my overly teary eyes, this time just because it was windy outside! First order was for Dr. Dennis Gross Advanced Retinol and Ferulic Eye Serum and Hourglass Satin Cremé Lipstick in Cypress. 2nd one was for MUFE Aqua Resist Smokey Eyeshadow Stick in Desert based off my daughter’s recommendation, and a new KVD Tattoo Liner in Trooper, because perhaps mine is too old now. Ordered Lumene CC Color Corrector in Medium from Amazon. Hope that it’s just as good as their old BB Cream… we’ll see. And at Walmart, I picked up a n eyeliner pencil that’s supposedly waterproof by AF94 in *69, just a basic black. Again, we’ll see about it being waterproof…but I’m thinking it would be as it was developed by Halsey, so she sure would need it to be LIFE-PROOF!
Weekend plans: Listened in on my Zoom meeting this morning. We had our 1st Circuit Overseer Visit for this year, so that was a powerful force of encouragement! It hit on some things that have been troubling me. So, I needed that positive, uplifting message now more than ever. Last night, I did my usual monthly stock up of supplements, health, household stuff, including a BUNCH of cat toys! So it was quite entertaining last night when my trio of goofballs were having the time of their lives!
What are you looking forward to in March? Getting outside more, for sure! I’ve seriously got to get up and moving more, as my weight and blood sugar levels are getting out of hand. Even if I just walk around the apt complex property, it’s better than doing nothing. Have been trying to dance again, too. But man, am I out of shape for the moves that came to me so easily just 3-4 years ago.
Oh, and I’m seriously thinking about growing out my dark gray and white hair?
It’s good to read that you gained a great deal of insight and positive encouragement from your Zoom meeting Nancy. We all need a boost of that every now and again to keep us on track.
I hope the makeup you ordered does the trick and works out for you.
I can imagine your little kitties being overjoyed with their new toys and they are having fun with them.
Yes, walking does the trick for weight loss and keeping your sugar levels down. I generally walk around our big block (4km, including some uphill parts that use to get me!) and have found that that has really helped me physically and mentally as well.
Enjoy your weekend Nancy.
Purchases: finally got to Sephora – yay – and got Maison Marigella On a Date, Drybar Liquid Glass Moisture Rich Miracle Smoothing Sealant (does NOT live up to its name!), Paula’s Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant, another bottle of Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser and Boy Brow. I also scored some points perks from Algenist, Olaplex… I also got some amazing workout leggings in the brightest, most alarming over the top tropical print and for a mere $20 bucks on Amazon!
Weekend plans: alas, I spent most of it shoveling snow! Hubs is down south golfing (every time he does this, we get a major snow dump that I’m left to deal with and I think this time is the LAST STRAW!) He’s supposed to get back around midnight tonight and I hope he can get into the driveway – I spent over an hour trying to move the heavy snow and slush mess that the snowplow deposited at the end of our driveway (it’s Groundhog Day in that I did this at the start of the week because of another snow storm!) Tomorrow, I sure hope we’re driving to where my daughter and son in law live to see them and our grand-daughter.
What am I looking forward to in March – MARCH BREAK….an entire week off and a lot of sleeping in late!
How like a man to be away when you really need them! It’s Murphy’s Law or something like that. I hope you didn’t wreck your knee shovelling all that snow – it doesn’t sound like a fun way to spend your weekend solo at all. I hope he appreciates this when he returns home. I think you deserve a new bottle of perfume for that!
So the Drybar Liquid Glass Moisture Rich Miracle Smoothing Sealant (what a mouthful) had none of the miracle element to it? Can you return it or like here in Aus, NOTHING can be returned. What is it supposed to do Mariella?
Thinking of you the other day, I was in Priceline – our budget beauty/skincare shop, when there in the aisle was a SHOWER CAP. I remember you writing about one some time ago and now that I have my hair cut into a shorter bob, this is perfect for me – so I bought one and it is perfect.
I’m going to give the Drybar spray a few more tries. Basically, it’s supposed to do “everything” – y’know, change your life by making your hair perfect, blah blah blah. I had a points perk sample of the original – “not moisture rich” – one and wasn’t blown away but thought the moisture rich one would be a miracle. I’ll give it a few more tries and then I might return it.
He and the Idiots go away every late winter/early spring to golf (though COVID and family tensions with my Trump lovin’ brother in law put that all on hold for several years) and EVERY time he went away, we’d have a major snowstorm, a family crisis or BOTH. My new knee is fine, however but it’s my BACK that is giving me grief after TWO rounds of heavy snow shovelling for TWO major snow dumps.
OMG – they are so gorgeous Christine! And they look so healthy too – mumma must be feeding them well.
You must be busy night and day with these little bubbas. How has Winnie been with them?
Recent Purchases: Soon as I saw Christine’s review of Trending and Drama Much, I knew I would like the Clay Nice set (which includes Gallop) on CP’s website, so I ordered it straight away. Trending will be a new colour for me and I hope I like it – I think I will.
The other day when Christine was asking us which skincare product we would be sad to see d/c., I nominated The Ordinary’s Moroccan Argon Oil. Lo, and behold, on Ozsale – my favourite Aus online retailer, they had the entire The Ordinary’s products on sale – so I ordered quite a few items from there – more Argon Oil, Squalene Cleanser, a hydration pack and a few other bits and pieces. So I am just waiting for all of my goodies to arrive.
Rediscoveries: Still rotating everything. Shiseido’s Gel lipsticks in Lantern Red and Scarlett Rush. PMG’s Bronze Bliss and still using a lot of Decadence.
Weekend Plans: On Friday I went out to meet one of my girlfriends for lunch and it was lovely to catch up with the news of her family and to tell her about our new addition of a baby girl into our family (Charlotte or Ava will probably be her name – I am hoping for Ava).
Yesterday (Saturday) was Olivia’s 9th birthday. She was having 9 girls around and then they were going to a play centre for the afternonn. Later on, they were returning for dinner at their place. Nonna has been busy making the sausage rolls, fairy bread and sandwiches for the event. She loved her presents of a big palomino pony, a Lego Enchanted Forest treehouse set with horses (of course!) and a Playmobil set of a country stable….
Today is my husband’s birthday. So the family are going out for lunch at a really good hotel restaurant that has a playroom. We bought him a new TV for the garage – he loves pottering around in there with his lathe and various items, and likes to have the TV on as background. His old one had had the gong.
So he was delighted and thrilled with his present.
Now that autumn is officially here, the weather is quite warm, but will be cooling off during the week – which is great news.
Looking forward to in March – Now that the major birthdays are over, I am looking forward to cooler days and nights and seeing the leaves turn. It’s my favourite time of the year.
Winnie is good with mama so far, they are still meeting with a boundary in place (play pen gate) 🙂 He hasn’t met any of the babies yet!
Oooh – The Ordinary on sale….their prices here are good but a sale is always better. A few weeks ago, I got the 100% Squalane (I always pronounced it “squalene” but apparently, it’s “squalANE”) and I really like it but I always forget that it works best on damp skin so I end up having to mist my face with Evian before using it since I always end up drying my face on a towel after washing at night!
Autumn is my favourite time of year too. I don’t know what it’s like in Aus but here in S. Ontario, it only lasts 5 minutes….we generally go from a blistering heat-wave to a blizzard with only the briefest of autumn weather.
Glad your hubs enjoyed his birthday present. I hope the lunch is delicious too!
Adorable puppies! <3 <3 <3
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: No purchases, no, that's not true, I bought a lilac nail polish today at the supermarket, it's a very soft lilac, with an almost greyish tone to it. It's from a brand called Depend.
Rediscoveries, Yes, MAC lipsticks, Stylist's Tip, I think it's called, I used it today, and right now I'm wearing Model Behavior. I was going to use Up the Amp, but it's sadly starting to smell a bit off, and of course it's DC'ed.
I checked all the available MAC lipsticks and eyeshadows the other day, there are a lot I don't have, and a lot I have but they don't. I'm going to miss a lot of my favourites in the future.
Is it my imagination, or are MAC doing less fun shades these days?
Weekend plans: I'm going to sew seeds for a veggie part in the garden. And the it's just the usual chores.
What are you looking forward to in March? I hope it'll get warmer soon, I've never felt colder than this year. Sometimes when I'm out walking Stubbs I swear my finger doesn't have any blood in them at all, and they are about to freeze.
Also, there are birthdays in March, mine, Stubbs, my son's dad, And my grandmother's though she passed quite a few years ago, I sort of celebrate her anyway, she was the best, so was my grandfather.
MAC getting rid of some of their best lipsticks is almost causing me to want to boycott the entire brand!
I guess you can’t forgive then for DC-ing Craving. And I totally get it. It’s a great shade.
They also DC-ed Violetta it seems, and an old favourite of mine, Up the Amp as I mentioned. And so many other great shades.
I might just join you in the MAC boycott or for that matter all of Estée Lauder for a while.
MAC and everybody else is doing less fun shades these days.
That is so true!
I had to check the names of Stylist’s Tip, and ended up here on Temptalia, looking longing on a photo of the release of so many fun lipsticks, maybe some weren’t what I’d wear, I look awful in yellow, but seeing the release again after so many years made me happy.
For me., it’s not even about “fun” shades (I generally don’t do them….I’m a “no fun” kinda gal!) but getting rid of excellent cornerstone products (Typographic, Blanc Type, Bronze eyeshadows just to name a few, as well as some of their best lipsticks and other products – products that have stood the test of time but have been thrown to the wayside to make room for new stuff of – for the most part – inferior quality).
Recent Purchases: I went to recycle some Back to MAC items, so I ended up chatting a little bit with the make-up artists in the store. I was complaining that MAC doesn’t sell anymore the blushes in the palette refill option, so I cut a finger trying to depot a blush. Apparently they had some pan refills leftover in store so I got a MAC Harmony. I would have purchased more, but the other 4 shades available were too dark for me.
Weekend plans: Today (Saturday) I went for the periodic car service, they did some re-alignment, I walked to the nearby mall and strolled for a few hours. Tomorrow I plan a mini-city break in a town nearby.
What are you looking forward to in March? A little bit less rain in California. I miss hiking, but I hate getting muddy more.
Baby steaklets!!! It’s been a rough week, but seeing the babies gave me a dopamine boost! What sweethearts!
RECENT PURCHASES/ REDISCOVERIES:
None
WEEKEND PLANS: Nothing exciting. Help my sons’ household with some cooking and shopping.
WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO IN MARCH?
Celebrating birthdays: My brother, husband, and younger son all have theirs this month. Hopefully, some warmer weather will eventually show up.
Rachel….that “NONE” from you is quite shocking!
I feel like I’ve had several “nones” lately. Makeup launches have been boring and I have other things I need or want to spend my money on.
I get it….I’ve been in that frame of mind for most of this past year or 18 months. I think a large part of it is having far more makeup (and skin care for that matter) that I really need so adding to it (basically “more of the same” but with slightly different names from different brands) is just plain foolish.
