Rose Inc Satin Cocoa/White Gold Shimmer Satin & Shimmer Duet Eyeshadow Review & Swatches
Satin Cocoa/White Gold Shimmer
Rose Inc Satin Cocoa/White Gold Shimmer Satin & Shimmer Duet Eyeshadow ($30.00 for 0.1 oz.) includes a sparkling, gold powder eyeshadow and a darker, bronze cream eyeshadow. In my experience, neither worked well individually; I had to layer the sparkly powder over the cream eyeshadow to get decent wear out of both, even though they are marketed as being standalone products (as well as to be layered together).

Formula Overview

The powder eyeshadow can be "worn alone or pressed on top of the cream base" for "diffused illumination." The brand described as "pigment-rich" as well, so that's obviously a bit confusing. I would describe these as "topper" eyeshadows as they were heavy on the sparkle and light on the base color, which made them more translucent and perfect for patting on top of the coordinated cream eyeshadow formula but were less functional on their own.
The texture was more loosely-pressed, drier, and definitely fragile (one of mine arrived broken and seemed like it had a lack of binder, as it crumbled easily from there). There was a moderate amount of fallout during application with fingertips or a dry brush when applied to bare skin, and it was most functional when applied over a tacky base.
On their own, the formula lasted between five and six hours on me and had moderate fallout over time.

Formula Overview

The cream formula is supposed to be "buildable" and yield a "sheer wash" or layered for "more saturated color." The brand described as "pigment-rich" as well, so that's obviously a bit confusing. The texture was emollient, lightly tacky, and spreadable, and it didn't have a full dry down for me, which made it more prone to settling into fine lines.
On me, I had the best luck using it as a wash of color rather than layered, as the more I applied, the more likely it was to crease very quickly. With a sheerer layer, it creased within five hours on me.
When sold as a duo, this formula is coordinated by a sparkly powder eyeshadow, which applied well over the cream product to enhance the overall longevity and minimize creasing to more of a six to seven hour range, but neither product functioned well individually for me.

Crazy, isn’t it – that Colourpop palette for Target, that cost HALF the price of this duo, is so much better!!! Price and the personality of Rosie Huntington Whiteley are no guarantee of anything at all!
Well, the white gold shimmer is quite invisible, whereas the Cocoa shade looks good, but the formulas for both are particularly poor. I think Rose Inc. needs to go back to the drawing board with all of their eyeshadows, none of them have been worth the money.
White gold shimmer: does that even qualify as a swatch? 😁
The brown swatches nicely, but the wear time is dismal.
Literally was straining my eyes to see what looks like some crusty looking bits of mica, Wednesday!
Yeah, about these toilet bowl lid shaped eyeshadows, though: NOPE.
Nancy, I am laughing SO HARD about the toilet bowl lid thing – you are SO right. Perhaps there’s a subliminal message in this…that these pricey shadows belong in the toilet!
I almost spit out my coffee from laughing!!! So true, though.
Ha! I was trying to figure out what you were talking about and then bang it hit me! LOL! Yes, they do look like that.
Lmao.. for the win!
