Revlon Strawberry Shortcake ColorBurst Lip Butter
Revlon Strawberry Shortcake ColorBurst Lip Butter
Revlon Strawberry Shortcake ColorBurst Lip Butter ($7.49 for 0.09 oz.) is a blue-based cotton candy pink with silvery-white shimmer. MAC Enchantee is lighter and less blue-based. MAC Dress It Up is slightly less blue-based. MAC Behave Yourself is just a tinge pinker. MAC All Styled Up is similar but doesn’t have shimmer.
It has a slightly milky/creamy texture so you may see lines if you press your lips together. The color is rather opaque, even though it’s supposed to be sheer to medium in regards to color coverage. For those who were interested in the Lip Butter range for sheerer color, this shade may not be the right pick for you. If you very lightly tap it on and add a little balm, you may be able to get the sheer color you’re looking for. The formula is unscented.
It has a very creamy consistency that makes it easy to apply, because it glides right on, but there’s a fair amount of slip. The biggest downside to having as much slip as this product is that it does have a tendency to wear off easily (this shade lasted two and a half hours on me), but it is a more moisturizing formula.  With lighter colors like this, the added slip can make it more difficult to get an even layer of color, because it tends to bunch up on itself or streak, which is why you’ll see a point deduction in the texture category.

would this color be good for more yellow toned skin?
It will be more flattering on cooler complexions than warmer ones.
but it looks great on you 🙂
I love lipbutters, but the wear time is a pain…
I’ve been wanting the Strawberry Shortcake Lip Butter for months but it’s always sold out at my drugstore. I may have to hunt this one down now, it’s such a beautiful pink shade.
it’s a little frosty, but i like to use the opacity of it as a base for a pink lipgloss. which shortens the time even more, i know, but it’s pretty when i do it.
love you entire look, what are you wearing? I have this one and its nots as opaque on me
It’s listed in the FAQ!
I wonder if you have mixed up the name? I have strawberry shortcake and it’s a much warmer pink with no shimmer at all. This looks a lot more like “cupcake” or “cotton candy” to me!
I photograph all of the labels before I take the photo of the product, and this is Strawberry Shortcake! Are you sure there is no shimmer? It’s very fine, but it’s definitely there – I just swatched it again and it’s seems obvious to me, because of the way it reflects and plays with the light.
There is definitely shimmer in Strawberry Shortcake. If you look at the sticker on the bottoms of the Lip Butters, some look slightly shimmery, some are matte and some are glittery. This is, as far as i can tell, an indicator of the finish. I compared strawberry shortcake to Sweet tart and the label on sweet tart is matte, while strawberry shortcake is shimmery and the finishes definitely agree with the labels.
Thanks for confirming, Cords! LOL, I was like, “Am I crazy? There is totally shimmer!”
These are more pigmented than I would have thought! May have to try one out.
Looks gorgeous on you! For some reason, Strawberry Shortcake looks warmer on me. Maybe it’s my lip pigmentation messing with the appearance of the color. I personally like it, but you are right; the wear time is quite an issue.
I always feel like I’m the only one who doesn’t like these. I bought 4 of them and they do nothing for me. Well nothing more than a normal lip balm. I’m a NW45 girl so these colors look like nothing on my lips. The ones that DO show up look like greasy lipstick on my lips. What about the brown girls? *sigh*
hey, im NC44 and it shows on me 🙂 try this one if you don’t have it.
Hey Christine,
I’ve read that this shade was a dupe for MAC’s Flamingo lipstick. How do you think they compare?
Flamingo is more of a coral – this is so cool-toned!
Does it compare to MAC Snob lipstick?
Snob is lighter!
I have this one and I love it! It is streaky sometimes, especially if my lips are dry and I put a little too much on. It’s a nice creamy pink color though. Ugh man I hope they come out with even more shades of lip butters soon. I’m addicted.
this color is what I wanted! i bought strawberry shortcake and its way more of a peachy pink, it doesn’t have those blue undertones on me at all and i’m very fair skinned with pink undertones…but the color on you Christine, is exactly what I wanted on me! lol never fails to look different on everybody
The grass is always greener, because I wish it wasn’t so blue on me!
i’m also fair with pink undertones and strawberry shortcake appears as a neautral pink against my skin. if you want a more bluish/purple toned pink lip butter try cupcake or gum drop-from pictures i’ve seen, those appear to look how strawberry shortcake looks on christine.
I tried this, but I’m way too pale to pull it off without a warm smoky eye. Looks great on you, especially with your eye makeup (which kind of matches!). Should have returned mine, but lost the receipt.
strawberry shortcake was the first revlon lip butter i purchased. i never noticed any shimmer in mine! perhaps they’ve changed the formula a bit-i got mine months ago. it’s a pretty color on my pale skin, but out of my four revlon lip butters, this one emphasizes dry lips the most on me so i have to make sure my lips are perfectly smooth before applying.
this is my FAVORITE lip butter hands down…and Christine, as a side note, I have NC44 skin tone, because I am from the Carribean, and this shows up on my lips with a little layering beautifully! It works on warm skin tones too 🙂
This is one of my favorite shades but on my pigmented lips I can find it looks streaky. :-/ Definitely have to tap it on for a sheer wash.
So confused how it is so opaque on you Christine. It hardly shows up on my lips. I know my lips are more pigmented than yours but geez, this is one of those times where I wish I had paler lips.
I must add that strawberry shortcake looks different on everybody, on Christine it looks really cool pink but its more of a rosey pink on me.
Christine you HAVE to try Tutti Frutti, Candy Apple and Red Velvet! These ones are AMAZING and super pigmented (I like my lips to be colorful so it’s an added bonus for me) a good neutral is Pink Truffle and Sugar Frosting is pretty sheer for those who don’t want that much color 🙂 I love these so much and for a hard core mac fan I have to say these are slowly becoming my go-to “lipsticks” (even tho they are technically lip butters/ balms)
When I see the close-up shots of so many lip products your trial I often find the colour unflattering and sort of “errrr, really?”, but then I see the zoom out and you somehow always pull it off. How the hell do you do that?!
are you sure this is strawberry shortcake? this color looks like what cupcake looks like on me. strawberry shortcake looks much more warm toned on my lips. less blue and cotton candy like.
Hi Madison,
I photograph the labels when I photograph products, so yes, I’m sure. Revlon Cupcake is sheerer, bluer, and more shimmery on me.
I’m wondering if the UK release of Strawberry Shortcake is different from the US one? Mine is a warm creamy pink with ZERO shimmer, I inspected it thoroughly and nope no shimmer and the label on the bottom isn’t a shimmer one, it’s a solid colour one. Very confusing!! On me it kinda reminds me of a warmer version of Viva Glam Gaga I
