Revlon Berry Haute, Coffee Bean, Toast of New York Super Lustrous Lipsticks Reviews & Swatches

Berry Haute
Revlon Berry Haute Super Lustrous Lipstick ($8.49 for 0.15 oz.) is a medium berry with subtle, cool undertones and a natural sheen. It had buildable color coverage from medium to semi-opaque, which applied evenly and smoothly across my lips without tugging. The consistency was lightweight, emollient but thin (though it didn’t cling) and comfortable to wear. It stayed on nicely for four hours and was lightly hydrating over time.

Formula Overview
$8.49/0.15 oz. - $56.60 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to have "lightweight color and moisturizing shine" with "buildable color payoff" and a "gliding, smooth application." It's a good formula for those who like medium, buildable coverage with a smooth, balmy consistency that glides across lips easily but doesn't feel too slippery while worn.
They're comfortable to wear with light hydration but tend to wear a shorter length of time--anywhere from two to four hours with a couple of shades reaching a little beyond four hours. What I like most about the formula is the finish: it's luminous and more smoothing, so it's kinder to lips with imperfection or prone to dryness/flaking. The formula has slip but doesn't have any heaviness or slickness that makes it prone to getting into lip lines.

Coffee Bean
Revlon Coffee Bean Super Lustrous Lipstick ($8.49 for 0.15 oz.) is a medium, orange-brown with strong, warm undertones and a fine, pearly shimmer finish that was more luminous so it didn’t emphasize my lip texture. The lipstick had semi-opaque pigmentation in a single layer, which was buildable to nearly opaque coverage if desired. The texture felt smooth as it glided easily across my lips, but it was lightweight, thin (but not clingy), and felt lightly hydrating over the four and a half hours it lasted for.

Coffee Bean is a shade that used to look sooo good on me in my 30’s! But I rocked 2 very different haircolors (blonde highlights till I was around 35, then auburn which evolved into dark burgundy red by 37) back then, and those were what probably made all the difference.
Now, Berry Haute is very tempting! It almost borders on fuchsia, but not pink enough, nor loud enough.
Coffee Bean and Toast of New York are familiar lipsticks to me, and I can see why I love them anew. Beautiful shades for me.
Coffee Bean and Toast of New York were such 1990s shades! I bought them both during a moment of nostalgia a few years ago, but they’re too orange-y for me nowadays. Berry Haute is more my style, but I already have a couple of good dupes.
Toast of New York has been a staple of mine for a very long time. I hope it is never discontinued. It’s just so versatile.
Coffee Bean and Toast of New York: Such classic 90s shades.
I love Berry Haute. I like how it’s more pink and muted, but still reads berry.
Coffee Bean’s been around since my Jr. HS days, which were in the early 70s
Of course I had coffee and toast BITD. The surprise takeaway is that the Sephora Lipstories range is less expensive than Revlon. Just a reminder of how good the Sephora house brand can be. It also reminds me that Kevyn began the nude/brown lipsticks that continue to influence today’s offerings. He is missed.
Coffee Bean and Toast of New York are such wearable Fall Winter favorite types of shades for me. I have to stop myself from wearing Maurice every day– going to have to pick these up.
I loved, loved loved Toast of New York in the 90’s. I went through several tubes as it was the only lipstick I ever used. I bought it a few years back out of a nostalgic feeling, but once I put it on, I felt like I wasn’t in love with it anymore. My vibe has changed, looks and had to give the lipstick away. For now it’ll remain in the happy memory category.
OMG! Coffee Bean’s been around since my Jr. HS days. I just bought another one today. It used to be more of a real, true brown. There’s much more orange in it now, but I can’t believe it’s still around. Can’t go wrong with a classic.
