Revlon Adorned Colorburst Lipgloss
Revlon Adorned Colorburst Lipgloss

Revlon Adorned Colorburst Lipgloss ($7.49 for 0.20 fl. oz.) is a vibrant, bright fuchsia-red with cool, blue undertones and fuchsia shimmer. It’s incredibly pigmented with rich, full color coverage in a single pass. It lasted for five hours and was moderately hydrating when worn. This is one of the best glosses I’ve ever come across–it is spectacularly pigmented, wears well, and is comfortable to wear to boot. Burberry Pink Sweet Pea (LE, $27.00) is more muted. Estee Lauder Violet Rain (LE, $22.50) is more metlalic. See comparison swatches.

Bejeweled Colorburst Lipgloss ($7.49 for 0.20 fl. oz.) is a light, neutral-to-cool milky pink with barely-there micro-shimmer. Unfortunately, the milky consistency settles into lip lines and applies unevenly. It had semi-sheer color coverage. It lasted two and a half hours on me. Maybelline Petal Plush (100) (P, $8.99) is lighter. MAC Picture Pink (LE, $15.00) is lighter. Tom Ford Beauty Sugar Pink (P, $45.00) is pinker. Urban Decay Obsessed (P, $19.00) is similar. NARS International Velvet (LE, $26.00) is also similar. MAC Fresh Air (LE, $15.00) is cooler-toned. MAC Fashion Scoop (P, $20.00) is sheerer. Chanel Imaginaire (P, $32.00) is pinker. See comparison swatches.

Embellished Colorburst Lipgloss ($7.49 for 0.20 fl. oz.) is a deep reddened burgundy with subtle warm undertones and fuchsia shimmer. It was semi-opaque on lips–it added bold, noticeable color, but there was a translucency that enabled the natural lip color to come through. There was some settling into lip lines, but it applied evenly for the most part (no splotches or bunching up). It lasted for four hours on me. Maybelline Caviar Couture (050) (P, $8.99) is more berry-hued. MAC Lust for Life (LE, $15.00) is deeper, more shimmery. Chanel Crushed Cherry (P, $29.50) is redder, brighter. Bobbi Brown Aubergine (P, $24.00) is browner. See comparison swatches.

Wow! Adorned looks amazing on you! It looks like my kind of lipgloss! I have six Colorburst lipgloss. I have Strawberry, Hot Pink, Peony, Orchid, Pink Ice, and Crystal Water. I don’t wear lipgloss that often, i’m more of a lipstick girl, but when I do, these are a really good option.

Melinda Avatar

Yes! It’s a great lipgloss to put in the center of your lips when you wear a matte lipstick. It adds dimension, it make your lips appear larger, and you have a sexy glow. 😉

Melissa C Avatar

Oooh – before I even saw your grade I thought Adorned was the prettiest gloss I have ever seen and I don’t even like lipgloss that much. That’s a keeper!

Teri Avatar

Adorned is just amazing! That opaqueness is just wooow! Too bad that the other colours seem a bit inconsistent. Or maybe everything else pales in comparison with Adorned ^^.

Christine Avatar

LOL! Yes, next to Adorned, the other two have big shoes to fill. Embellished was so-so. Didn’t care for Bejeweled at all, though it performs similarly to make other products in that type of color/finish – regardless of price point. Not really worse, I guess.

Veronica Avatar

I own all three of these, and I agree that Adorned is fantastic. This post actually inspired me to whip it out and wear it to work, it’s that good. 🙂 Embellished is probably the one I wear least often on its own – I like it better as a layering gloss over my vampier lipsticks. Bejeweled is the one with the most finicky application (definitely not one to over apply), but I actually like to wear it a lot with a gentle smokey eye – I’m very fair and cool-toned, and I find it mutes the color of my lips just so. 🙂

What stunning shades! Adorned is just beautiful… not a color I tend to wear, but so pretty, I may just have to start wearing it! I looove the idea of Embellished… that is the sort of color I love, but I wish it wasn’t so sheer. If it was more opaque, I’d be drooling all over my keyboard right now. 😉

Thanks for this post Christine! I fell in love with Pink Sweat Pea in your favorites post and was sad that it was discontinued. Now I can fill my desire for a fuchsia with blue sparkle in the drugstore, awesome!

Annie S. Avatar

I thought that these were released last fall as part of the Revlon Evening Opulence Collection and at the time were limited editions. Did that change?

Katie Avatar

If these shades – specifically, Adorned – are permanent, that’s great news. I didn’t know about Revlon’s fall collection until I came across some blog posts featuring Adorned – JUST as the drugstores were phasing in winter collections. I literally drove to a few CVS pharmacies in a single day to find the shade.

Guys and gals – coming from someone who hates lipgloss, go grab Adorned. I co-sign everything Christine said about it!

Christine Avatar

I didn’t think they were until they were on Revlon’s site as just “new” and actually part of the regular line-up (not just in their own section), and then that ULTA actually had them online. It can be so hard to tell with drugstore launches what is or isn’t new/LE.

It’s weird, because my local drugstore JUST put this out. I thought it was a holiday launch initially, so finding out that it was fall made me go, “Huh??!”

Katie Avatar

Huh, that’s interesting! You’re from the S.F. Bay, right? I’m from the East Bay, and I went out to buy it just 2-2.5 weeks ago!

WHATEVS, peeps – just GO and get Adorned, haha!

Mariela Avatar

I bought Fire when you reviewed it, and while I absolutely love the color and and look of the gloss, I find it hard to wear. I always seek to spear it like 2 seconds after I put it on. Any tips on making it last longer? I love adorned!

I saw this post little late last night and wanted to come online to sing some praises :

Do you know if this is going to be released internationally? (and if yes, are there any release dates?) I haven’t found any of these glosses in Australia so far, and despite the fact that I almost always prefer a lipstick over gloss, Adorned is amazing and I need it in my life.

Rachael Avatar

The pink is the most beautiful drugstore gloss I ever bought. I’ve had mine for awhile now and I’m not a gloss chick but I LOVE my bright pinks and find the urge to put it on when I’m looking through my 100s of lippies.

Chloe Avatar

Adorned is exactly my problem with makeup. I see it, and its so vivid, sparkly, and pretty, that I want it, despite the fact it might not actually look good on me. Despite the fact I don’t even wear makeup that often! The same thing happened with OCC’s Electric Grandma. I thought the color and shimmer was just so lovely in general, that I didn’t actually stop to think if an orange/coral would work with my coloring (it doesn’t :P, but I’ll make it work anyway). Anyhoo, what I’m saying is, Adorned looks great.

Phoebe Avatar

I went to CVS just for Adorned. Sadly, they did not have the display, nor was Adorned in the permanent collection on the wall. I guess I’ll have to buy it online at Ulta or make a special trip to go find it. Argh, I hate living in a pedestrian/public transit city.

Alla Avatar

Adorned looks amazing on you! But I’m confused, weren’t these glosses LE? I’ve been trying to find them everywhere with no luck, and I’ll be super happy if Revlon did decide to make them permanent!

Christine Avatar

Hey Alla,

They’re available online at ULTA (I’ve yet to encounter LE drugstore products online!), and Revlon lists them as “new shades” with their permanent range of glosses. I noticed that these were listed as “new shades” and the Lip Butters were listed as “limited edition.”

Alla Avatar

Thanks for the info. I’m going to try to find a way to get ulta to deliver to Canada (we miss out on so many nice drugstore products here), but if I can’t, Adorned looks so amazing that an eBay bidding war may be in
my future 😉

death2myalarm Avatar

I’ve just found an online Canadian pharmacy that has these and was so excited I ordered two of the Adorned! Can’t wait to rock this colour all day every day!

SheDaisy Avatar

After watching New Girl and staring at gorgeous Cece, aka Hannah Simone, I have been obsessed with pink glosses! The only problem is I have big lips and lots of hair – lip colors usually end up on my chin and streaks of gloss find their way onto my cheek. Has this happened to anyone else with any glosses or this Revlon gloss line? If not, I am getting Adorned asap!

Danielle Avatar

I have been absolutely obsessed with adorned! It looks great all on it’s own, but lately I have been pairing it with MAC’s Rebel….amazing!

Rina Avatar

I’m obsessed with getting this shade, Its amazing.
unfortunately all my local pharmacies have replaced the colorburst lipgloss with the new balms ,I suppose I will have to buy online.

Anna Avatar

Nothing pains me more than adorned.

It had riche opaque colour and was also non sticky. It retained it’s glossiness and shine until you ate a meal but left behind a nice tint. Great glosses are especially hard to find unless they’re high end so…

WHYYYY Why are my lips irritated to it. The irrational side of me says just ignore it but I know it’s silly.
