Rescue Beauty Lounge Purple Haze Nail Lacquer

Rescue Beauty Lounge Purple Haze Nail Lacquer ($18.00 for 0.5 fl. oz.) is described as a “vivid violet,” which is an accurate depiction of this shade.  It has a cream finish, applies opaque in two coats, and has a slightly jelly-like quality to me.  In some lighting, it seems like a red-based purple, but then in other lighting, it seems more blue-based.  Purple Haze’s formula was impeccable–even flow, not too thick or thin, and no bubbling.  I typically get a full week of wear with RBL’s formula.

Ooh the color does look beautiful, and I’m loving the name for it, it’s one of my favorite songs! Hmm, if the application is flawless, why a 4.5 and not a full 5?

This is one of the very best purples out there!! I don’t have anything that close to it, and the formula is amazing. One of my favorite RBL’s!! ty for posting, Christine!

that looks NOTHING like the Purple Haze I have. Your pictures actually look like the Mismas color when Ji did the blogger collection. I wonder if your bottle is labeled incorrectly. Check out the rescue beuaty lounge site and compare the colors there and you will see what I mean. Something is off.

Hi Kathryn,

This is the one I just bought from RBL a couple of weeks ago, and Mismas has been sold out for quite awhile (I don’t own it) so no idea how it would get mixed up if there are no bottles of it, so I can only go off of what I have. I googled and saw some swatches that seem similar, others that don’t, but it is always hard to compare against someone else’s photos since lighting differs a lot 🙁

I have a feeling Kathryn is right. When the BIB order came out, I ordered Insouciant along with Purple Haze. I confirmed that the bottle of purple haze I received, was similar to the online swatches I saw. On the purple color spectrum, if I have to compare Purple Haze, it’s an inbetween Zoya Malia or CHg Spontaneous (lighter) and Zoya Mira or Chg Grape pop or OPI Funkey Donkey (darker). Mismas is very very similar to Zoya Mira ,OPI Funkey Donkey, and Chg Grape pop. The Purple Haze I have, is waay different from this swatch and bottle. Most (almost all) of your swatches are pretty spot on to the colors I have.

Also, I posted on RBL FB page, about the insouciant I received. I could tell right away, it was off. It didn’t look anywhere near the online swatches I saw. There are many nail bloggers out there that give a pretty accurate swatch. I’m not considering the ones with average photo skills or poor lighting. Let’s say, comparing to alllaqueredup.com swatch of the insouciant, mine looked off. It looked more like Parlezvous-OPI (similar in texture), with the subtle shimmer almost absent – like it was a crème. Again outside, no subtle blue shimmer. It was just flat. I brought it up on FB, but I was shot down, like I was a blind bat.

It would also help to have it compared with the MUA hard core nail gals, and other nail forums, they will be able to tell more accurately than me.

Please know this is my personal opinion, and not a reflection of Ji, a hard working woman or her company. I’d like to maintain that this could be an honest mistake.

I’ve found that, while the photos are great quality (clarity, detail), the swatches from All Lacquered Up are not true to life. I tend not to purchase polishes based on her swatches. :\

My Insouciant looks pretty close to the swatches Ji posted of her Insouciant manicure a few weeks ago. The shimmer doesn’t POP but it’s there.

I also love purple creams. But have to say, I think my collection has enough of them in this hue that I could pass on this one. I do like this does not have any chalky look to it – but then I expect that level of excellence from Rescue Beauty polish. Someone else has a polish named Purple Haze – but am drawing a blank as to what brand it is or was.

This is very similar to China Glaze Grape Pop and China Glaze Spontaneous, both of which I already have, so I didn’t bother getting this shade.

Rescue Beauty Lounge polishes usually apply like a dream, though, so it’s a good pick for someone who doesn’t already have the China Glaze purples.

Ehh. Despite the ease of application, I can’t really justify RBL’s price for a simple creme…RBL shimmers are a lot more unique!

This is obviously Mismas. The color and your description of the formula – a slightly jelly-like quality – Purple Haze is a regular creme and not a jelly at all, while Mismas is a jelly. Something is definitely off.
