Rant & Rave: Shimmer Blush

Shimmer Blush
My favorite! I love shimmer on the cheeks, so if I can get it in a blush, all the better 🙂 I’m not (personally) too concerned with shimmer that emphasizes pores, as long as it’s not TOO much.

Rave: I am definitely a shimmer blush kind of person. I like my blush to have a little glow to it and once I discovered blushes like Ciate Glow to Illuminate there was no looking back! If I use a blush that doesn’t have any shimmer or glow to it I will lightly run my brush over a subtle highlight and then into the powder and then to my cheek. I don’t have a ton of texture on my cheeks and in comparison to my under eye my cheeks actually look smooth so wearing a blush with shimmer isn’t a problem. I wouldn’t say I have any rants except that I don’t like any product with actual glitter, regardless of how small the glitter might be.
I love shimmer on the cheeks, maybe that is why i love Mac Extra Dimension blushes.
I love shimmer blushes! I think they look the best on me and give skin a nice glow. The only rant I can think of is when they have chunky glitter. I don’t need that on my face.
They’re not my favorite because the shimmer can build up more quickly than the base color. BUT I do love a pink blush with gold shimmer, Sleek’s Rose Gold being my weapon of choice.
I LOVE shimmer blushes – MAC’s Sheertone Shimmers, some of the “old” Too Faced ones and, of course, MAC’s Extra Dimension blushes. I love the sheen and the fresh glow they impart. There’s nothing I dislike about them.
I love a little gleam on the cheeks but I prefer decent colour and blendability to shimmer. I guess only because I have elebenty squillion highlighters, so it’s easy for me to add or layer shimmer over a matte or satin blush. But if I can get all in one, done and dusted then I’m happy!
A good golden shimmery pink or apricot coral is hard to go past! 🙂
Elebenty squillion – haha! Now I know how to count mine too!
I prefer a skin like finish, in a “natural” color, and if I want some “glow”, that’s what highlighter is for.
This is what works best for me, and my style/aesthetic of choice, and I am by no means being critical of those who prefer a “bolder” cheek color; I just have a set “look” that works with my clothing choices, eye makeup style, and facial structure.
Im all about that glow! Love a luminous, glowy finish on my blush, but not so much so that my skin texture gets emphasized. And most haven’t on me. Thank goodness!
The only ones I’m not into, are the ones that go into downright metallic, frosty or glittery territory.
Rave: While I prefer what I’d call luminous blushes rather than shimmery, I definitely would put shimmery blushes ahead of mattes. I like sheen and glow on the skin, and I think they can help you blend out a highlight that might be too dark or a little off in color for your skin tone.
Rant: I don’t like when they have actual glitter in them or they are too metallic. It can also be hard to get the right combination of shimmer/color and it can end up a little unbalanced.
I prefer everything matte, except for well placed cheek highlighters. I’m oily so I associate any unnecessary sheen with oil, and I prefer to stay matte as long as possible!
Personally, I am not a fan of strong shimmery blushes as they can make me look too dewy and I have found that I generally prefer a more matte finish. But a little shimmer can add depth to your face and give it a really nice glow.
Any shimmer blush that has glittery elements to it is a big no no for me. And I think those that don’t emphasise your skin’s texture is a big plus.
I don’t mind some shimmer, but I usually prefer matte! I think I like I like shimmer blushes better in the summer though!
I don’t want it to look like a highlighter, but I prefer some shimmer or glitter (like the Wet n Wild Color Icon blushes).
Having dry/combo skin and on the aging train (Lol!) I do like sheen on my cheeks but not necessarily glitter. I really love the Physians Formula strips for a subtle healrhy glow under or over blush. Also WetnWild blushes while mostly are matte (on my skin) the Fantastic Plastic Pink has a very light glitter much less than it shows on actual product is so pretty once applied. Soap & Glory blushes, Milani baked blushes both have nice sheen but nothing nasty/clownish to them. For drugstore they are absolutely awesome products.
I’ve always liked shimmer blushes but now I prefer matte. With the use of highlighters I feel it’s too much to use both.
Except using the glitter drops from cover fx which anything looks good with that.
Rave: I love the glow of beautiful blush (Hourglass) plus a subtle highlighter. It makes a matte almost boring, but mattes do have their place in the lineup.
Rant: absolutely no glitter or anything that accentuates texture.
