I’m obsessed with coral tone lipsticks, they all look good on me.
I LOVE coral lipstick! I especially like wearing them with yellow shirts. They are so flattering on my skin tone. The only thing is that it’s difficult to find a nice pink-coral in the drugstore, a lot of them lean too orange, and orange-corals tend to age me.
I lovee coral lipstick- super pretty and a nice pop of color without being too bright. But with my new bright red hair, bright corals just don’t look good on me anymore 🙁 i’ve had the same problem with pinks.
I love Coral Lipstick but unfortunately I cannot wear them as i am pale cool toned with pink undertones.
I would love some suggestions for pale pinky coral lipsticks for cool tones !!
I’m also very pale, with cool pink undertones, and I want a pinky coral lipstick too! I have my eyes on Make Up For Ever Rouge Artist Intense shades 38 & 39 (not exactly coral, but in the general colour family), after seeing how they compare to shade 24, which I own. Shade 24 is ‘orange beige’, but its really like a soft peach. #24 is a great colour, but I need to whiten my teeth a bit more before I can confidently wear it.
I love Coral Lipstick but unfortunately I cannot really wear them as I am pale, cool toned with pink undertones. I would love to hear any suggestions for pale pinky coral lipsticks suited for pale cool toned skin types !!
Try MAC Costa Chic. It’s too cool and too light for my NC42 skin but it would likely work for you.

I am in love with coral lipglosses and lipsticks. I think they look great as I have matured. I love to use them on tan, olive and African American skintones. Some of my favorites are: Revlon Coral, MAC Hibiscus, Cyndi (lipgloss) and the two new shades from the Hey Sailor collection.
It really depends on the coral for me. I like NARS Niagara, it’s a pink-coral. Anything too orange like MAC Crosswires is funny looking (it was my first lipstick purchase after getting into the whole makeup bug and now that I know what looks good on me, I can’t wear it anymore, sadly).
oooh and YSL Glossy Stain in Corail Fauve is great too, leans a bit orange on me but not too overpowering.
Gah, love coral lipstick. Conveniently I’m currently wearing last year’s MAC summer collection lipstick… Hibiscus. Got the last one on the shelf at MAC.
I love coral lipsticks for the summery vibe they give esecially with floral dresses , unfortunately my deep pink lips with dark pigmentation prevents me from trying them.
I don’t particularly like them-for myself. On certain coloring/skintone, they can be quite beautiful. However, they don’t work with either my coloring, or my “edgy” style, so I don’t wear them. I wore coral, alot actually, in the late 80s, when I had a bit of a tan & auburn hair, and my wardrobe had more color; corals & peaches were especially my “go to” summer shades. I went to a church camp in the summers, so I had to adopt a more “mainstream” appearance.
If I could choose to own only 2 lipsticks one would be red, and the other coral! Coral is my favorite lipcolor because it brightens the face, it’s fresh, it’s “rosy” without being flat and neutral, and reminds of so many gorgeous spring flowers and delicious tropical fruits. Too pink only sometimes works, orange is a tough to wear but beautiful lipstick shade–and the coral compromise is a head-turner. Red-coral almost makes me look like I am glowing! It’s fun, versatile, a great color for a slightly cool-leaning neutral bronze girl like me, yet there is an amazing coral for everyone. And it’s not erring on bland like some nudes, nor is it always as intense as a bright red or a dark vampy look.I love how corals can be bright but still work with having other colors on the face.
I love the look of coral on others, but I can never find one I like on me. I usually use a red with coral tones. My complexion is tanned, NC42.
@Chris25 No way! We’re the same coloring so you’d look incredible in just about any coral. My faves are: MAC Cockney, Hibiscus (if you can find it), Lady Bug and Toxic Tale (another LE like Hibiscus). Also try Maybelline Coral Crush and Clinique Beach Coral.
What is there to rant about with coral lipstick!? It’s just awesome!
Corals are flattering on every skin tone, you just need to determine which looks best: a more peach-toned or pink coral, red or more orange corals. I like to manipulate orange lipstick by mixing it with a light pink one to create the perfect coral shade. Here are a few of my favorites:
NYC City Duet in The Rock-A-Fellas (has a light coral and a bright, coral red – mix together for intense coral lips or wear alone)
Maybelline High Shine in Coral Lustre (a nice sheer, coral. this one is easy to wear)
Maybelline Color Sensational in Coral Crush (red coral)
Revlon Matte in Smoked Peach (peach toned coral)
Revlon Super Lustrous in Siren (mix this with WnW Think Pink for the perfect coral shade)
Wet ‘n Wild Mega Last in Purty Persimmon (bright neon orange coral, mix with Think Pink for a more wearable shade)
when its a really orangy coral shade – very unflattering against the teeth! but a nice shade of coral with the perfect balance between pink and orange really brightens up the face and gives your makeup a warmth.
I look really good in coral lipsticks, either pinky-coral or red-coral – it just seems to suit my ginger complexion.
I’m obsessed with coral lipstick. That is the color I have the most of and the color that probably looks best on me (NW 20 with dark red hair). I wore Sweet Marmalade from Lancome today; definitely the most natural coral I have in my collection.
Love coral anything! Lipstick, blush, nail polish, you name it!
If we’re talking true corals, I’m in the minority — I don’t like coral lipsticks. I’m unafraid of wearing any color – from nudes to vampy purples – but I feel like coral is unflattering on me.
I think they tend to suit medium to darker and warmer skin tones a touch more than they do paler tones, but they can look good on anyone if they pick the right balance of pink and orange. As I tend to be very picky with my corals and will default to pinks and reds first, I only own one – Bobbi Brown’s Party Alice. I wear the hell out of it, though, and get complimented on it often, so I’m predicting I’ll probably collect more over time.
I have just been buying coral lipsticks and lip glosses like a mad woman lately! I just purchased MAC Costa Chic, MAC Impassioned, MAC Watch Me Simmer, MAC Morange (which I am just IN LOVE with!), Revlon Colorbust Lip gloss in Papaya, and Revlon Coralberry. There is just nothing bad to say about any of these lipsticks or anything coral in general!
No rants from me! Coral is my favorite lipstick color. It’s the quintessential summer color!
I like the idea of coral lipsticks and in theory they should be flattering on me (red hair, slightly yellow undertones) but I just don’t like them on. I keep trying and I guess they don’t look horrible on me but I find cooler lipsticks to be much more flattering. Every time I think I’m going to wear one, I wind up wiping it off and selecting a blue based pink instead.
My fave! Brightens up the face, natural yet fresh, and makes teeth look whiter.
I’ve read a few different fashion/beauty mags refer to coral lips as “geriatric”. I don’t know why! It’s such a lovely, feminine, tropical shade. I break out all of my corals at this time of year and have a hard time stowing them away at autumn. I love them all whether they lean more pink, orange or red. I will never get tired of a coral lip on my (naturally) tanned skin!
I love pink corals or peach corals myself. Although i can pull off an orange coral aswell. With my pale complexion i love my rose boudior by lancome (rouge in love line 340b) but if you don’t want it to be that bright, try corail in love (322m i think) from the same line.
I don’t love it, I don’t hate it, I guess. I’ve mainly seen women with olive through deep skin pull this off really well. That’s not to say fairer skinned people can’t look good in it though. It doesn’t flatter me. For some reason the most memorable thing to do with coral lipstick for me is meeting a lady, who must have been in her 90s, wearing the loudest bright coral ever. Hey, if you’ve still got it I guess…
Coral lipstick = yellow teeth. I could take the time to find a “perfect coral” for my coloring, but that takes effort and I’m lazy. I like a no fuss makeup regardless of my coloring or whatever clothes I am wearing that day. Bright pinks suit me, flatter and brighten my face. Stick with what works. Each their own.
I’m sorry, but I absolutely can’t stand coral lipsticks. I think it’s because I really, really, really hate orange. I think it’s the reason why I don’t normally like golds much, either, or particularly warm lipsticks. I’m neutral-to-pink toned, quite cool and pale, so luckily, the colours I don’t like are colours that wouldn’t flatter me anyways.
I am most excited about the Hey, Sailor powerpoint eye pencil in emerald green! Amaaaazing color and I havent tried Macs eyeliner yet.
Bleck…I think coral lipsticks are kinda ugly and only rarely look decent on the right people with the right complimentary makeup.
I love coral ;
Fav’s:
Watch me Simmer by MAC (pink coral)
Vegas Volt by MAC (orange coral)
I love coral makeup against my dark skin! It instantly brightens my face and adds a pop of color without being too bright or too subtle. Whenever I am unsure of what colors I should choose for my makeup for the day, I always turn to a coral lipstick (topped with gloss) and a matching blush. It’s always a good look for me!
LOVE coral lipstick! My skin is a warm olive and they just work the best for me. I have so many brands in so many different shades and finishes. Whenever I see a new coral lipstick I just have to buy it!
Although I am #teamcoral I only recently realized how amazing this color looks on me. while shopping for a spring lip color, I tried on mac crosswires. I wanted to wipe it off immediately because i really prefer pinks and nudes. but i truthfully did a double take in the mirror and saw how much the color complimented my skin tone. I didn’t buy it but I think I will…. 🙂
Love. Rave! Corals/Orange compliments my complexion.
that shade looks awful on me. wish the “it” color would be something else, it’s hard to shop right now
I LOVE Coral anything!! I have an Olive/Warm tone so it works for me!
CORAL PINK with the emphasis on the pink – not too much orange…and a light/medium not too bold finish.
Off the beaten path lies a great dupe for MAC Everhip and similar in color to the beloved MAC Iris Apfel Flamingo. I cannot see paying upwards of $65.00 for one lipstick ( as seen around the web, these are now discontinued ). So I searched for the perfect summer coral lippie.
Found this one for $4.99! Nicka K Lipstick (NK) #924 Coral Pink. Dead ringer for Everhip. Was at a beauty supply store, but I’ve now seen it on Amazon as well. Lined with NYX coral pencil to brighten or nude pencil to tone down, then top with BUXOM lip gloss in DEBBIE, a beautiful coral pink in it’s own right.
