Quick & Easy Spring Look
Quick & Easy Spring Look
I needed to do something soft enough to wear with a variety of lip colors, as I was doing some swatching, and I didn’t want to spend too long on it either — this is the result. The weather lately has been wreaking havoc on my skin, though — SO DRY!
You will need the following…
- Eyes: Laura Gellar Eyeshadow Base (neutral eyeshadow base), MAC Prance Eyeshadow (mauve gray), MAC Top of the Posh Eyeshadow (soft pink), MAC Noir Plum Eyeshadow (purple), MAC Unflappable Eyeshadow (dark brown), Burberry Trench Eyeshadow,Urban Decay Delinquent 24/7 Shadow Pencil (vibrant purple) Bare Escentuals Buxom Lash Mascara (black)
- Face: Make Up For Ever HD Foundation (140), Burberry Pressed Powder (03)
- Cheeks: MAC Sur Blush (neutral pink-brown), Guerlain Teint Rose Pressed Meteorites (pale shimmering beige)
- Lips: Chanel Byzantine Rouge Coco Lipstick (pink-red), Dior Trianon Silver Ultra Gloss (silver)
- Brushes: 249 (flat, firm brush), 239 (fluffy shadow brush), 222 (fluffy crease brush), 263 (angled eyeliner brush), 116 (dense blush brush)
- Substitutes: Prance = Vex; Top of the Posh = Pink Venus; Noir Plum = Grape pigment; Unflappable = Satin Taupe; Sur = Prism; Gana = Soft & Gentle
For eyes, start by applying Eye Spackle as your eyeshadow base all over the eye area with the 249. Using the 239, apply Prance eyeshadow all over the inner two-thirds of the lid. Lightly blend Top of the Posh eyeshadow onto the outer corner with the 239. Apply Unflappable eyeshadow in the crease with the 222. Next, apply Noir Plum eyeshadow into the lower crease with the 222, only in the center. . Blend Trench eyeshadow with the crease shade and highlight the brow bone. Bring everything together by applying Delinquent on the lower lash line and pat Prance eyeshadow on lower lower lash line with a dampened 219 to brighten. Finish by sweeping lashes with Buxom Lash mascara.
For cheeks, apply Sur blush on the apples of the cheeks and sweep upwards towards the temple with the 116, then highlight with Teint Rose using the 165.
For lips, apply Byzantine lipstick first, then layer Trianon Silver lipgloss for a complementing lip.
What a great look, Christine.
And you are right, this would go with almost anything!
Love the purples… Always do. 🙂
Thanks, Hilana!
Absolutely love the cheeks and lips in this one!
Thank you, Charlotte!
Stunning! I noticed this eye look in the Pink Veil swatch and thought it was gorgeous. I was hoping you’d post what it was. I am loving Prance. It shows up almost peach on me so I’ve paired it with browns. Now I’ll have to try it with purple and gray.
Thanks a lot, Steph!
Lindo!!!! perfect… I’ll go to the work with ots suggestion
Thank you! 🙂
Really pretty Christine:)
Thanks, Nana!
I love this! it is gorgeous and so simple..but I cannot even begin to think about spring..we have 2 feet of snow in CT..I can barely see my car!! lol
OMG, two feet!
This is gorgeous, I am going to recreate it right now lol!! Even though you are not a pro you should keep posting your looks, they are much easier to recreate than the looks pro MUAs do!!
Thank you, Svetlana!
Yeah they’re actually wearable like a regular woman could wear it to work or school without being like “whoa there!”. They also aren’t incredibly time consuming which makes them more practical for normal women to do
Oh wow, I really love this!Great job and thanks for giving us such great ideas to try out!
Thanks, Lady Di!
So pretty! I’m so ready for spring – this snow on the east coast is getting old. Anywho, I’m wondering if I could create the same look with MAC Togetherness trio and the NARS Melusine duo…
I think you could!
You look incredibly ready for spring!!! The color of that shirt absolutely suits you! It’s kinda honeysuckle, what according to Pantone is gonna be THE color of 2011, have you checked that out? Anyway, gorgious look!
Thanks a lot, Marionne! 🙂 I have heard, but I usually don’t pay that much attention to trends!
The eyes and lips are perfectly paired! Beautiful ^__^
Thanks, Joyce!
So very pretty! If you were to do liner on the top, would you use the same vibrant purple or a black? I only ask b/c I NEED liner on the top or my eyes just disappear. Love this look.
Either would work, but if you did purple on the lower lash line, then maybe black on the top or vice versa.
Thanks… I am def going to try this out (soon).
Yay!
Thank you Christine for posting a lot of looks lately. How do you like the burberry powder? Is it better than Laura Mercier’s which you used before?
I prefer Laura Mercier’s 🙂
I was so happy to see that you did another look it been awhile 🙂 Its very subtle but also very pretty I look forward to more.
Thanks, LH!
Wow, Beautiful! Your skin looks flawless. Will you do a review of the Burberry Pressed Powder?
Yes, I will.
Hi Christine,
This is a beautiful spring look…can’t wait for spring! We just got a huge dumping of snow here in Canada last night:( You are lucky you do not have to deal with snow & ice!
Wanted to bring something to your attention regarding the infamous Urban Decay Naked Palette. I tried to purchase it last night as it was in stock, however my system got stuck and when I managed to get back in, it was sold out again!! Now it is back on-line, still showing ‘not in stock’, however the price has increase from $44 to $48? Is this something that companies normally do? Doesn’t seem right…Thanks!and Have a Great Wednesday!
Thanks a lot! They changed the eyeliner to a brush and subsequently increased the price a bit.
awww you look so cute with this look. I like how the colors coordinate with each other too.
Thanks, Laden!
Yay! Your back doing looks!! Missed them!! Now I’ll have new looks too!! Don’t listen to the haters! This is (insert Oprah voice) AMAZING!
Thank you!
I really like this look. You look beautiful.
Thanks, Farida!
Ahhhh I love this SO MUCH! Perhaps it’s just because I’m so bored with winter and this makes me think of days when it’s not -30 degrees (Celsius, oh my god), but I think it’s pretty great 😉 I am completely smitten for that eye look!
OMG that is colddddddddd!
Hi Christine, I have a question that has nothing to do with the eye look (even though it is pretty) How do you like THe MUFE Hd foundation for pictures. I’m having a photo shoot done and that is what everyone has said they “heard” was good. I need someone who knows. LOL Thanks
I like it for photos! 🙂
Pretty! I have been lemming the meteorites lately, and that picture proved why! The glow is so perfect (drool)
They’re great! 🙂
Mac Sur blush suits you pretty well Christine. This MU is fresh and beautiful for spring. I love Guerlain teint rosse pressed météorites. I love applying it as highlighter on my cheeks (top), my nose as well. As for this lipstick, chanel byzantine, is gorgeous on you. Well, to sum up, it’s a gorgeous MU, Christine. Love it…
voili, voilÃ
Thanks a lot, Annick! 🙂
Very pretty Christine! Perfect from spring.
Thank you, Megan!
purty!
Thanks, Kass!
I love the use of purples in this look and it looks particularly good with the lip color you chose! Beautiful job, Christine!
Thanks, Heather! 🙂
Gorgeous!! i love purples.
I just started using color eyeliners and the urban decay ones are so nice!
I NEED that lipstick! lol that color is gorgeous on you!
Thank you, Brittany!
Lovely! You’re getting alot of wear out of Trench – and making me want to try Burberry, wish they carried it in Atlanta!
Love Trench!
pretty lipcolor! reminds me of Hot House lipglass from VV (which i’m wearing right now!)
Thanks, Marcela!
pretty! I recommended that lipstick to you yonks ago, I like to think you got it on my recommendation! 😉
I didn’t (no offense!) – I bought the entire Cote d’Azur collection to review when it first hit the website, but I just haven’t had the opportunity to swatch it until recently 🙂
ha ha you shouldn’t have said anything! I think its the same lipstick I have, I bought it a while ago but its no 64 Byzantin (without the e). twould be so weird if chanel had two rouge cocos both with such a similar name!
It could be without the E – I’ll have to double check! It is probably without the E 🙂
its actually no 28. I dunno where I came up with 64!
What do you think of Sur blush? I love it!
I like it, I just have it nearest to me in my bathroom, so I keep using it (all my other blushes are in the office at the moment!).
Very pretty! Love it! I can’t wait to try this look.
Thank you, Janis!
That’s a great look!
Very pretty!!
Can you recommend a mac dupe for Burberry Trench Eyeshadow?
Thank you.
I haven’t really found a great dupe for it.
What an absolutely beautiful look. It’s funny, because I normally have to force myself to remember that, when I see the lovely looks you do for yourself, that our skin tones are quite different and that those looks won’t look quite so good on me, but I find that this is definitely one that could work for a variety of people.
On the down side, you’re making me want to run out and get another Chanel lipstick, you bad girl!
LOL!
Thank you, KFM!
what kind of pencil do you use on your brows?
I use MAC Espresso eyeshadow to fill them in.
I really need to get into those UD liners. I loved the liquidy metallic look and feel of the gold L’Oreal HIP, would you say these are comparable?
UD’s aren’t quite as soft!
Christine,
Do you think you can post pictures while you are applying your make up? Like 2beauty does on her tuttorials? That would be great! Thanks
These are not meant to be tutorials, sorry!
Lovely!
Thanks, Niki!
Wow this is probably one of my fave looks by you. it’s so simple, but that’s kind of what I like. And because it has NO black, it’s different from what I usually do.
Thank you, Gigi!
I love your headband! Sorry, I’m in a headband phase right now. 🙂
Loveee headbands! Nordstrom has gorg ones!
this is my go-to look! great work as always christine!
Awesome!
Gorgeous! Love your top as well, and your skin looks perfect!
Thanks!
Christine, how do you like Buxom’s mascara? I’ve always wanted to try it but have been hesitant since I haven’t read any reviews. Thanks!
It’s good for length!
aww great look! so pretty!
Thank you, Cherie!
it’s so pretty! IMHO, this is the best look in a while, absolutely stunning! =)
Thanks, Sara!
Thank you for this spring-time look….I’m sitting amoungst 25″ of snow in New Haven county. Spring cannnnot come fast enough!!
Here’s hoping for warmer weather!
I love this look! And I love the name “Prance” for any product…it is just so fancy sounding.
I have white hair (white, like typing paper), dark blue eyes and fair golden skin (in the olden days, they called it sallow). I’m looking for a coral/guava lipstick and am pretty sure that I’ll find it here. Love make-up but am trying to avoid the little old lady raccoon eyes, Bozo blush and missed-my-mouth lipstick. I’m trying NOT to look as if I escaped from a nursing home. Just last week, I discovered I had bags under my eyes. The week before, it was raccoon eyes…my liner needed to be fired.
I am having such a good time reading your blog and relish in your passion for makeup…plus your really on-the-mark evaluations of the various products.
Thanks so much, Katie 😀
That lid color is beautiful on you.
Thanks, Phyrra!
chrisitne, you look gorgeous !!!
i love the look, it’s very girly and innocent =)
Thank you, Siwing!
Beautiful Christine. I really love the purple, very unexpected in the winter time and refreshing! Also the lip color is to die for!!!
Thanks, Jamie!
Will you be reviewing the Laura Gellar eye primer?
Eventually, yes.
Omg! absolutely loving this look! you make me want to take the chance and get that UD purple shadow stick even though their 24/7 liners have always smudged on me…
Thanks, Joanne!
Very Pretty! Love the lip combo.
If you’re looking to combat dry skin, try Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate & Ultra Facial Cream. If you have time to go into a boutique, they’ll do a complimentary skin care consultation & send you home with some samples, if nothing else. This stuff has worked miracles on my skin… it’s the first winter I can remember where I haven’t suffered from any awful dry patches or flaking. Anyway, it’s just a suggestion 🙂
Thanks for the suggestion!
There’s another site I found just browsing for reviews that seems to just copy/paste your blog entries and the site is called kujaku. It seems similar to the site I posted about above in that it doesn’t have credit to you or info posted about who writes it. With all the hard work I know you put into this blog it kinda pisses me off, like on your behalf to see that.
Thanks, Lorraine!
love it!!! for you is super easy LOL I´ll have to practice first LOL
Thanks a lot, Luisafer!
Wow this is really just PERFECT for spring!! So pretty & fresh!!:)
Thanks, Madiha!
Lovely!
Thank ya!
This is gorgeous. I copied it today but used blooming Lovely lipstick. LOVE it!
Yay!!
You did an awesome job creating this look! Thumbs up
Thanks, Thuy!
