Physicians Formula Plum Rose is a moderately warm-toned, light mauve with a satin finish. It is a permanent blush that retails for $12.99 and contains 0.26 oz.

Editor's Review

Physicians Formula Plum Rose Butter Blush ($12.99 for 0.26 oz.) is a soft, dusty pinky-plum with neutral undertones and a satin finish. It had medium, buildable coverage with a soft, very slightly powdery texture that was very smooth, easy to blend, and sat well on the skin.

The Butter Blush formula is supposed to "deliver a gorgeous blushing glow." The powder has a strong coconut scent. The color wore well for eight hours on me, but this shade will show better and be better on fairer skin tones as it doesn't show up much on me so I'd expect it to look a bit different and more nuanced on lighter skin tones. The finish was more matte than glowing with this particular shade, though. It had one of the more finely-milled powder consistencies I've tried by a drugstore brand, so I wish they had more shades available--something that might work for someone that's light-medium or darker. It's a surprise to see a brand that really doesn't seem to want to cater to diversity and richness in skin tones that the beauty industry has in 2017--but given the brand still releases foundations with just two shades, I guess it shouldn't really be a surprise.

This is a good quality powder blush with a fairly creamy consistency. This means little to no powder kick up, but a synthetic brush can still easily pick up product. I am still fairly light at the moment (I range from about NC20 to NC40 depending on the time of year), and this is a VERY subtle blush (and I prefer subtle bush, but this is almost too subtle for me). I can't imagine anyone deeper than me getting this to show up (it is a common theme that PF products don't cater to medium-tan - deep skin). I find PF overpriced for drugstore and the packaging is usually quite bulky - in this case, that means plastic compact with a nice mirror and a compartment with a weird sponge applicator that is useless. There is also a strong sweet coconut/suntan lotion smell; it's not the type of scent that gives me a headache, but you can smell it from the box before you open it, and it lingered on my skin for about 2.5 hours. This blush will be good for a limited range of people (fair - light-medium skin), and it performs well for that range, but for a natural drugstore blush, I would recommend the Essence Satin Touch blushes, which are also much cheaper ($2.99!).
