Editor's Review

The formula is supposed to be "long-wearing and transfer-proof" with "24 hour" wear that has a matte finish and feels like a "flexible, breathable veil of full-coverage, rich matte colour." Most shades had semi-opaque to opaque coverage with lighter shades sometimes being sheerer compared to some of the darker shades. The texture was very lightweight, thin but less clingy than the Retro Matte liquid lipsticks and has a less substantial feel overall.

These dry down quite quickly (almost as I am applying), but they are fairly forgiving as they dry without getting into a semi-tacky phase, which also made them easier to build up if necessary for full coverage. The thinner texture seemed to make them less prone to emphasizing lip texture or "cracking" when I smiled after the dry down.

I think they are less long-wearing, though, than the brand's Retro Matte liquid lipsticks, which deliver a similar matte finish and dry down from its liquid state. The Locked Kiss Ink formula was easier to maneuver, more forgiving to apply, and was more comfortable to wear overall.

Most shades lasted between five and seven hours with a few getting closer to eight, but I wouldn't say they are 24-hour wear products as they don't make it through two meals at all. They will make it through one meal fairly intact but start to transfer after a meal.

It is also supposed to be easy to remove, though the brand says to use their cleansing oil to do so, which is an effective type of cleanser to remove most makeup, but this formula wasn't noticeably easier to remove than most liquid lipsticks that dry down. It certainly wasn't the hardest to remove, though.

There was a faint vanilla scent but no discernible taste.

Deeply disappointing for me. The colour is a brilliant orange-red and perfect for my olive undertone. Put it on before dinner ~6ish pm. When I dabbed my lips with a napkin at dinner (light touch) it was transferring to the napkin (this was 8ish pm). It was 90% gone after dinner. Had Greek food - lamb etc. Will never buy anything from this range again. :(

Absolutely stunning color. By far my favorite Mac lip color date! BUT it doesn't last 24 hrs on me. Upon initial application I noticed how smooth and buttery the formula was. Dry down took a few minutes and was not as tacky as other long lasting lipsticks I've tried. At this point it truly was kissproof and transfer proof. The only drawback is after a few hours I needed a gloss as my lips became uncomfortably dry. I applied gloss and then I noticed a little bit of transfer. I tried a different brand of gloss and it still started to transfer. So for me it's more like a 7-8 hour wear. I still think it's a lovely product but definitely didn't last on me.
