Editor's Review

MAC Painterly Pro Longwear Paint Pot ($23.00 for 0.17 oz.) is a light mauve with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. It was richly pigmented with a smooth, lightly creamy texture that was denser and a little thick in the jar but ended up applying as a thin, even layer of product that was flexible as it dried down. The product was quick to set, so I had to work quickly to soften any edges if desired. Once on, it didn't show any creasing until after 15 hours of wear, which was slow to worsen from there.

Claims / Ingredients

A highly pigmented, long-wearing, blendable eye primer and/or cream shadow – M·A·C Pro Longwear Paint Pot goes on creamy and dries to an intense, vibrant finish that lasts for 24 hours. The innovative second skin-like creamy shadow formula blends smoothly over lids and creates seamless, buildable coverage without looking heavy or cakey. Its superior colour purity stays true and will not streak or crease. Pro Longwear Paint Pot can be mixed with other products, like M·A·C shadows and liners.

I was so excited for these to come back and had such high hopes and nostalgia for the product. I have been wearing Painterly as a primer for a few weeks now and it is so disappointing. You have to work at the speed of light to apply it or it becomes patchy and impossible to blend. My eye shadow is creasing half way through the day (whereas the UD primer potion lasted well into the evening). By the time I get home from work, my eyeshadow is so faded, I might as well have not done it at all. Just a HUGE let down.

Great shade to use as a base (even replacing the primer) and to even out pigmentation of the eyelids. Most people also use shade Soft Ochre for this purpose but if, like me, you have a very cool toned complexion Painterly works definitively better.
