Editor's Review

Clarins Forest Eye Quartet Mineral Palette ($42.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a series of "autumn hues" of "khaki, satiny taupe, intense bronze, and pale gold." The formula can be used wet or dry, depending on the intensity one desires. Three of the four shades had very nice color payoff, while one shade had more of a glimmering, metallic consistency and look, so it was sheerer (the press release actually calls it a "beige illuminator," so sheerness would make sense here). The darkest shade felt like a cream eyeshadow--did not feel like a powder at all. All four shades wore without fading or creasing for almost eight hours, and the glittery shade had minor fall out over time. Worth noting, the palette seems like it has plenty of product, but by weight, it's a mere 0.10 oz.--which is about half of what you'd expect spread across four eyeshadows.

Claims / Ingredients

Highly concentrated in mineral pigments, these eye shadows light up all eyes. Their wet and dry texture is extremely soft on application. Easy to blend and shade, their colours are both subtle and even. Harmonies of satin and iridescent shades offer a variety of effects. For a superb, long-lasting make-up result.

I find this 4 pan palette to be pretty much exactly as Christine described it in her review, though I find some of the shades to be more silvery and cool leaning than warm but that could be because she and I have different skin tones. These shadows give a very elegant and sophisticated look. Pigmentation in 3 of the 4 shades is excellent but it is on the subtle side so you're not so likely to really overdo things unless you want to, since the shades are very to build up if you want a darker or more extreme look. The lightest shade is the only "disappointment" in terms of pigmentation - it's basically frost in a fairly sheer base but even so, it can be used to achieve a very nice look. I love the subtle elegance of the looks that this palette delivers.
