I really and truly like the flawless finish the beautyblender gives me- usually. I have tried so many times to clean it and with various types of cleansers: my purity cleanser, brush cleaner, dawn dish soap, medical grade soap, etc. I always clean it before and after I use it, and always clean it in hot water until it runs clear. I make sure it dries as to not grow fuzz (lol), but it has ALWAYS broken me out! It makes me sad that I can't use it for more than a day or two before I break out from it. Does anyone else have this problem?

This is my only must-have for flawless, natural-looking makeup application! It distributes pigment beautifully, leaving your skin looking like *your skin*, only better. I use it for liquid foundation, tinted moisturizers, and bb creams for easy, even coverage that can't be replicated by finger or brush application. Saturate the sponge with water til it plumps up, then squeeze out the excess (so it's damp but not wet). I also clean after every use (beautyblender makes a solid cleanser that works wonderfully, but I've also used baby shampoo).

This product took some time to love, and even still I find myself reaching for a brush over this sponge. It applies product beautifully, providing an airbrushed finish, but I find this specific tool is suited to products with fuller coverage, since you are able to "bounce" the BB to provide a streak free coverage. When I have time to apply my makeup and want a super flawless porcelain finish, this is what I reach for. The one thing I don't enjoy is the upkeep. I find I'm always concerned about lurking bacteria, and when I do go to wash it, I find it difficult to get it completely clean. If cleanup wasn't such an issue (and I wasn't so concerned about bacteria buildup) I would reach for this every day. PROS: Creates a truly flawless finish Expands when wet Shape is ergonomic and easy to work with Reusable Handy for Travelling CONS: Cleanup can be fussy Colour seeps out during washing If not maintained carefully, it could be a breeding ground for bacteria Pricey

I am really glad I have the beautyblender sponge. It really does an unbelievable job of applying liquid foundation so you get a flawless finish that seems invisible to the naked eye but results in skin that looks perfect. I had to take off a half a "mark" simply because of the price of this sponge and the fact that it is not all that long-lasting. Shell out close to $30 (CDN) for a makeup brush and it will last you a few years, at least, but the beautyblender can rip and fall to pieces in a few short months. The Avon "dupe", while not quite as wonderful, is pretty close for about 1/3 the price.
