Pretty Vulgar Glimmers of BS Shimmering Swan Highlighter Review, Photos, Swatches
Glimmers of BS
Pretty Vulgar Glimmers of BS Shimmering Swan Highlighter ($32.00 for 0.20 oz.) is a light-medium, peachy beige with warm undertones and a metallic sheen. The powder highlighter is supposed to be “velvety smooth” and “highly pigmented” with a “lustrous” finish. The consistency was smooth, blendable, and easy to work with whether I wanted a barely-there highlight or true-to-pan color, though it was quite pigmented so a moderate touch yielded a very strong highlight on the skin. If one wanted something more diffused or subtle, I would recommend using a lighter hand and a feathery brush.
The powder sat well on the skin without emphasizing my skin’s natural texture, while it still gave a radiant glow. On my normal-to-dry skin, the highlighter lasted for eight and a half hours before starting to fade noticeably on me.

As if I needed any more highlights…. but I want it ? The texture and finish look really nice
Haha! True – so many highlighters these days!
I love the name Glimmers of BS. That’s just really humorous. This brand speaks to me!
But anyway, I am so glad the highlighter performed well! It looks gorgeous and I may have to get it to dip my toe in the brand.
The highlighter was lovely!
Wow, I love the packaging on these! 🙂
It’s different from most brands!
Nice looking highlighter! I’m still trying to figure out what they’re getting at by naming a highlighter “Glimmers Of BS”, though…. perhaps that wearing shiny highlighter is BS’ing a shiny glow one gets from breaking a sweat? Idk? ?
LOL!
Haha! Nancy, I interpreted it as a play on the phrase “glimmers of brilliance,” which I find very amusing ?
It’s a pretty enough powder but, my goodness, the NAME….”Pretty Vulgar” is bad enough but toss in “Glimmers of BS”….sorry, but it’s such a turn off!
That’s definitely their schtick!
The product gets a good review, so the quality seems to be decent. That’s good. Do we HAVE to live with another makeup line defining itself (as what, edgy?) though a stupid name like “Pretty Vulgar” and “Glimmers of BS.” Give me a break.
I’m tired of everything vulgar, I must say. It’s all around, every where. Call it an age (old) thing, but really…I want to go high, not low—even with the tone of the brands I give my money to. The beauty of a free society is that we can all do what we want. We can also speak our minds, and sometimes that’s with our wallets. No thanks simply on the basis of the low brow connotations. Rant over. 🙂
Based on their descriptions, it’s actually not about being vulgar so much as about opposites/that people (well, they say women) have a lot of facets. I understand it’s not your cup of tea, though!

I liked that about us, thanks Christine. I definitely understand more of what they’re going for now. Whether you want to be pretty and sweet or take makeup in an edgier, more sultry direction they want to celebrate you. That I get. Embracing the dichotomies and that we can be pretty, vulgar, or both.
Pretty much how I feel too, Linda.
This is beautiful. I am so into this brand concept! It’s like Kat Von D’s concept of high performance makeup for people that like bold looks, but in a less alternative-fashion way. This would be perfect for a glow-y night on the town look.
It is interesting – I’m curious to see how they expand the line and if they hone their brand message a bit more over time.
I think I’m falling in love with this brand, this is really nice too
Happy to hear it!
Happy sigh!
I was most interested in getting this highlight, and thst super shimmery pink blush you posted sneak peeks of!
Im seriously considering this for my nc23ish skintone! I think it would be pretty. ?
I think it would be beautiful on NC23ish skin 🙂
That’s a gorgeous highlighter.
Agreed!
A really pretty shades that would suit many different complexions.
It should work for some!
It’s really pretty but the name is such a turn off. I guess I’m not part of their target customer group!
While I don’t use much highlighter, it’s tempting. I bet it would be more blush like on me though.
The packaging of this line is stellar! This highlight is very pretty but at this point I don’t think I’m going to buy another unless it’s a unique colour and this isn’t really.
