Ooh Happy Friday! This is more similar to the Divine Rose I & II color schemes than I was expecting, but I can’t help myself anymore with Pat’s gorgeous special shades — and this is packed with some really beautiful special ones. I will be picking this up eventually.
I have to say I’m underwhelmed by these swatches, but I’m open minded about the palette and interested in the review! I love my PMG palettes, Eternal Eden and Celestial Divinity, and I have no Motherships, so I was thinking of picking this up. But it’s looking a little boring just from the swatches. I’m wondering how it might pair with other palettes, though.
I have celestial divinity too and I think that it dupes almost entirely this new release
I really need her to just release her special shades as singles. I’m sure there is an argument that she’d lose money or something but I’d be willing to spend $30 for one of those suckers and I’m sure I’d buy more than one so ultimately I think she’d make more off those singles than she does off the mothership palettes.
This is far more subtle than expected. Of course this appeals to me as it falls into a preferred range and I am typically a sucker for her mattes and special shades. Astral Orchid looks clunky difficult but there is the bundle with the PMG version of glitter glue and I am definitely curious about in concert with all PMG special shades.
I’m not sure how I’m feeling about this palette… first of all, I have Divine Rose II, and I see a lot of similarities between the two, secondly, this just looks underwhelming compared to her other palettes. I’m sooo undecided on this one!
I’m getting really annoyed with all the pink, gold and bronze from PMG. I would love to see more special shade quads (without any more gold included in them) and a larger palette situated around cool toned neutral colors.
Hi Christine! It is nice to see one of your eyelooks again! I guess you’ve recovered from the eye irritation or any other kind of issue you faced in these last months? As for the palette, it seems the same colour story repeated again and again. I’m pretty sure I can dupe it with my celestial divinity, and I am almost certain that at least 2 or 3 previous motherships have a similar colour story. Like colourpop, she is duping herself! I’m still waiting for a bluish/aqua/navy/teal/perwinkle colourstory, I am tired if rose/gold heavy colourstories with maybe a pop of colour. Di they know that it is indeed possible to create a palette without a pink or a gold inside?
Hi Francesca,
I’m sorry – I am still working through my grief after losing my dog, Magellan, and as a result, I find I tear up randomly throughout most days (not sobbing, but tearing up enough that it would cause makeup to run and then get into my eye… which would cause more tearing from irritation!). I’m still not there, but I’m trying to get some looks up by applying and removing. It’s hard for me to do that because my eyelids are pretty sensitive, so just applying, removing, and applying again doesn’t always allow me to test as well the next day (my lids get drier and/or bumpy).
I’ve been testing eye makeup still, but I have just applied everything halfway up my lid and higher (and no mascara) o that when I get teary, it usually doesn’t result in getting to the makeup.
Hi Christine
I’m so sorry to hear about Magellan. My condolences.
Thank you, Cath!
Not who you replied to, but please don’t apologize- it can take a long time to be okay again when you lose someone you love so deeply. You’ve been incredibly strong through such a difficult time, and I hope you know how much we all care about and support you. 💜
Seeing your swatches of this palette makes me glad I picked it up in one of the bundles with her Eye Artistry Wand. I do love how well PMG shadows can sheer out into a softer wash of color and sparkle, but I think I’m going to want to amp up Astral Venusian Orchid and Astral Amethyst Moon more often than not, and the glitter glues I already have are old enough to make me suspicious of them.
There are definitely a few shades that seem like the Artistry Wand will definitely… help them be better, lol, or any glycerin-based mixing medium should do. It seems more like an artistry palette than the last few releases, which have felt more approachable/consumer-friendly, but this one feels a little more geared toward makeup artistry.
Hi Christine – I’m really sorry you’re still grieving over Magellan. I lost my yellow lab, Stanley on 1 Jan 2020, and I totally agree with you when you say that you can tear up randomly. I still cry for my baby boy and miss him everyday. But we will get through this.
Love,
Linda
They are so missed! There are stretches of time where it seems like oh, I didn’t think about him as much, and then I get sad because I feel like I’m forgetting him… and then other times, I feel like he is on my mind throughout the day – not to the point where I’m not still moving forward, getting things done and living my life without him, but just enough to get hit by a little sadness and go, “Oh, he’s not here, I miss him.”
So sorry about Magellan, Christine. And Linda about your Stanley. It’s so devastating losing a pet. When I lost my cat, Stein, it took years not to tear up about him constantly. It’s been 11 years and I still miss him so much. We will always remember our wonderful pets. ❤️
Oh Christine, I am sorry for you 🙁! I can understand well the situation!
Thank you for understanding, Francesa!
I’m so sorry, Christine. They really are a part of the family and it’s just not the same once they’re gone. Sending you big hugs! Take all the time that you need. The time to grieve is different for everyone and memories of them seem to never stop popping up, and I’m grateful for that. Maybe you could try those cards like MAC always used with an eye printed on it that you put the eye makeup on to show the look? Just an idea. Not the same as seeing your beautiful face in pictures, just thought of it since I know for me, doing makeup is a getaway and stress reliever. We are here for you and for the makeup!
Ooh Christine…I can’t imagine the pain you must be feeling with the daily triggers since he was such a huge part of your daily makeup routine. I pray that with Winston’s lovely kisses it can help take your mind away until you’re at a place where his memories will bring you a smile. Sending Virtual hugs!!!
I totally agree with you about the shades. I’ve always bought Natasha Denona but want to try PM palettes but don;t need any more bronze or rose gold. I love cool pinks, taupe grey and blue and hope in a future release she may lean more that way.
It’s funny, I looked at the photo of the first six shades and I thought “oh what a nice little pinky-neutral color story”, and then I remembered that that’s exactly the problem people have with this palette LMAO
I wore it today with the artistry pen and love it. I admit I’m prejudiced, I have all of her mothership palettes.
Happy to hear the pen is working! I think it may be necessary to really enjoy/get the most out of the palette (or any glycerin-based mixing medium).
I’ve been using Inglot’s mixing medium for years with Pat’s special shades. I like the artistry wand much better, it’s not messy and way easier to apply.
There’s only a few shades in this that really “blow my skirt up”. The rest of it looks far too similar to the last mothership to make that much of an investment in. Also, we are expecting pug babies/baby here, next week so that should keep me quite busy for awhile🙃
Puppies!! One has kept me busy plenty, let alone wee, wee babes.
I feel like if you’re someone who didn’t pick up Divine Rose I/Divine Rose II, this might be perfect, but if you have one or both of the Divine Roses, it definitely feels like there’s more overlap in the general feel.
Noooooo – more rose pink shades! Another palette that looks like the Divine Rose ones…… The only shade I like is Blitz Sextreme (my goodness, can’t the makeup industry leave sex out of this?) and I think I can dupe this shade with one out of, wait for it, Maybelline’s Burgundy Bar at a fraction of the price.
I am sorry to read of your continued eye issues Christine and grief has absolutely no timeline. Your family has lost a much valued and devoted member, so your grief and loss will ebb and flow. Take your time and wishing you well.
Thank you, Genevieve <3
So sorry about your eyes. *hugs* The grief for fur babies is so real. For my birthday, my mom made a scrapbook of my first cat, Meagan, who went to grad school with me and through several moves. She was my baby and a fierce protector (if you can imagine that with a cat), and I found myself feeling the loss again and it’s been 10 years. Be gentle with yourself and *more big virtual hugs*
Thank you for the swatches! I will probably pass on this as it’s so warm toned and I can’t wear the special shades. Hoping she’ll come out with another palette like Celestial Divinity for the upcoming holidays!
