Recent Purchases: I purchased the Beauty Bay Wilderness palette and got the Lunar Beauty Eternal Eclipse palette as an early birthday present!
Rediscoveries: I broke out my Alter Ego Goddess palette today (it’s a dupe of the ND Gold palette), and am over the moon with how my eyeshadow turned out. I’m so ready for fall, even moreso than last year, and the color story reminds me of fall and makes me so happy.
Weekend plans: Meeting up with my BFF for breakfast tomorrow; she lives a couple hours away so we try to meet in the middle, but it hasn’t happened in a while because, life.
What’s your favorite part about your personality?: I guess my willingness to see all sides and relate to people, even if I don’t necessarily agree.
How do you like the Wilderness palette?
I haven’t received it yet! I will for sure let you know how I like it.
I had a look at the Alter Ego Goddess palette and my goodness, it looks beautiful. Is it as good as ND’s version? If it is, I think I might purchase it, as I did love that palette.
I hope you’ve had a really good time with your best friend Celesta. It is so great to catch up when you haven’t seen each other for a long time.
I’ve never used the ND Gold, so I don’t know if it’s as good, but it is definitely a beautiful quality product at a quality price. I think I’ve seen comparisons of the two palettes side by side and they certainly seem comparable!
It was such a good day, Genevieve! Thank you. 🙂
Winston’s getting big!!
Purchases: Mac Glow Play blush in Totally Synched (LOVE), samples of the Face Atelier Ultra and Ultra Skin foundations (it’s a no to the Ultra Skin, but Ultra is a possibility for when I need to pick up my next foundation), and Black Baccara’s perfume oil in Joan of Arc.
Weekend plans: renting The Green Knight, getting with some friends for a picnic, and reading!
Favorite part of my personality: I like to think I have personal integrity, but also I make an awful lot of (awful) puns. Which I enjoy.
Winnie has grown SO fast!
Recent purchases: I went a little crazy with my Sephora order recently and got the new version of the Tarte Amazonian Clay foundation PLUS the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Foundation. I also purchased my HG lipstick, MAC Powder Kiss in Teddy 2.0.
Weekend plans: Lift some weights and spend time with the doggo. Probably rent a movie and work on a sweater I’m knitting as well.
Favorite part of my personality: I like that I can be funny sometimes.
How are you liking the new Tarte foundation? Does it feel very different?
I really like it so far, it hasn’t noticeably oxidized like other foundations have and it mixes well with my oils. It’s very lightweight and seems to be withstanding mask-wearing fairly well. I did notice that it did not play well with a beauty blender.
Woohoo!
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: No makeup to report on this week because I worked from home and didn’t even change out of my sleep clothes!!! The only thing I bought since last week was food, and the only thing I’ve rediscovered over the past week was my love of Fudgesicles.
Weekend plans: Inspired by the decluttering posts over the past few days and the fact that I wasn’t able to respond to the questions because I never declutter, I’m going to attempt a “declutterization” of my vast collection of lip products and eyeshadows. Wish me luck. Plus Zoom happy hour with friends, recording music, continuing my snail’s pace reading of the book I’m really enjoying, boring household chores, and eating something I probably shouldn’t be eating on my diet (but sugar-free Fudgesicles are diet-approved!).
What’s your favorite part about your personality? My creativity.
Good luck decluttering!! You can do it!
Thanks! 🙂
Umm, Fudgesicles are the best and now I want some.
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: Nothing new cosmetic wise, although I’m checking like crazy everyday of Paula’s Choice body wash is back in stock.
Weekend plans: This weekend I really need to catch up on sleep…
Otherwise, just the usual plan of chores, groceries, cooking (especially baking and roasting since the weather is cooler), hiking, reading and long phone calls.
What’s your favorite part about your personality?: Unpopular opinion, but I do like that I’m the kind of person that cares too much and stresses out about everything. Maybe I don’t like how I act towards it sometimes, but I like when I see others and myself passionate about stuff, in both personal and professional life.
What do you like most about the PC body wash?
The biggest drive for me is that it’s both an amazing body wash and shampoo.
As a body wash I like that it’s fragrance free, cleanses well, and soothes by skin when I get eczema like or dry patches; but there are several other body washes that do that, a couple of baby body washes and Vanicream or Eucerin products.
But the fact it also works as a shampoo is ideal for me… anything else seems not to go well with my scalp. And having just one product in the bathroom for body and hair it’s a pro for me. Multi-purpose from me and everyone in the household. 😀
But I’m just picky as always, I’ll most likely just go to Target and grab the Aveeno baby wash as back-up this weekend.
Thank you!!
Recent Purchases: I finally bought one of the Temptalia x Sydney Grace palettes since I will be maskings for the next 9 months or so and I want to make it fun! I am so excited for it to arrive. I have been so excited by the collection for so long. (I got Quintessence Light.)
Weekend Plans: Recovering from an emergency dental procedure and reading.
Favorite part of my personality: I talk A LOT but when needed I am a good, active listener.
I hope you love Quintessence Light, Sarah!
Hope you feel better <3
An emergency dental procedure doesn not sound fun at all! I hope everything went OK with it and you are recovering well.
Winnie is too funny walking around with that flower in his mouth!
Purchases/rediscoveries: Oh boy, I was really bad late last night! After watching only one review, I ordered Huda Panther 9-pan palette, the corresponding lip kit, and Glowish Bronzer in Light Tan. I’m not sure what happened to all my self-control, but….
Weekend Plans: Clearing out my antique family heirloom desk to sell it for $’s to move back to NJ. I really need to make this move so bady. Also, cleaning a few areas that got missed last go round.
Favorite part of my personality? I don’t know, but I would probably say that it’s that I’m a rather forgiving person who tries to understand why people do what they do. Or, perhaps, that once I care about someone and consider them to be my friend, I’m very loyal.
Isn’t he a sweetheart? Troublemaker, too!
What made you pick up Panther over the others?
Adorable, but mischievous! His face never gives that away, though 😊
Panther has such a deep, grungy vibe to it that I fell hard over Amanda’s swatches of it! I only feel stupid because I purchased it very impulsively and before your review. Something I almost never do.
Aww, don’t feel stupid! Here’s hoping it’s amazing!
That’s because he thinks he’s doing a GOOD thing…he’s a retriever so he’s bringing something good back to “mom”. Just doin’ his job!
I was about to say last week that maybe it’s time you did move back to NJ – it’s where you’ve always wanted to go and the time is probably right for you.
Best wishes for the sale of your heirloom desk and hope that the purchaser will love it as much as your family did.
Awww, who’s a cute little flower thief?
Purchases/rediscoveries: Whole lot of nothing this week.
Weekend plans: I don’t know! I told my partner I was tired of planning all our weekend activities and it was their turn. They have not yet informed me what we’ll be doing.
My favorite part of my personality: I am generally quiet and reserved, but if I am passionate about something, I do not hide it! I love to evangelize for my favorite books, or nerd out about dance or something else I enjoy, or rant about injustices in the world. I will help random people in the store pick a bottle of whiskey for a friend by telling them how much I like a brand on the shelf. If someone compliments my skirt I will tell them “Thanks, it has POCKETS” and where they can get their own. If I see a cute fluffy corgi I will literally clap my hands and squeak. I have zero chill, is what I’m saying.
Sounds like you bring people a lot of joy 🙂
It really depends on their level of interest in random insect facts and recommendations for recent sci-fi fantasy novels by LGBTQIA and BIPOC authors, lol.
Recent purchases: some sunscreen (we’re going away to friends’ cottage next week) and Benefit Cookie Powder highlighter. Wow, that stuff is SHINY, and part of asked myself what was I thinking but the brush that comes with it actually works well and allows me to achieve a less glaring and blinding result.
Weekend plans: training, a party a friend is throwing for the 3 half sisters he only recently learned he had (he’s adopted and his daughter got this going; he was quite reluctant at first and unwilling even to start the process…) It’s turned out to be a wonderful thing! Then packing and also getting some food ready for a meal at said cottage (each couple is responsible for one night’s dinner and there are 5 couples – it’s a seriously luxurious and large “cottage”)
My favourite part of my personality – something I’ve only learned in the past 5 or so years and it’s hearing others talk to my husband about how helpful and friendly I’ve been to them when they’ve first met me (younger teachers and substitute teachers trying to find their way literally and figuratively about various schools where I teach). It was nice to hear a few of them say that I approached then when they were new and offered a hand of friendship… Other than that, it’s probably that I don’t take myself too seriously and don’t think “it’s all about MEEEE”.
Also, if it ever ends up being too shiny (even with the brush), you can layer a little translucent powder on top and that should soften the shine/glow 🙂
I think I was just sooo excited to see something in store that I was actually sort of thinking I might want to buy, perhaps, maybe (is that tentative-sounding enough?) that I just lost my head (and it was “seniors’ day” so I could get 20% off). Your suggestion is a great one – I guess it’s been so long since I’ve had any face product that was too shiny that I’d totally forgot that option.
I think that some of your personality qualities are those I share Mariella. I always went out of my way to help younger teachers and substitutes when I was working, with my vast resources and so on. Each school I worked at had its own protocols and way of doing things and I helped a lot of teachers navigate that, particularly if they were joining our team.
I think you would have been a great person to work with too.
What kind words you always have, Genevieve. A few years ago we ran into a younger supply teacher and his wife in – where do you always run into people – Costco. During the introductions, Josh told my husband about his first day at what was then my regular school and how I helped him out, helped him find where his classroom was, just simple stuff like that. I’d forgotten all about it but hearing him retell it drove home to me how such simple acts like that can make such a difference and so now I always try to do things like this.
It’s a shame you and I are half a world away geographically because I bet we’d get along like a house on fire if we were neighbours or worked together.
My, isn’t Winston growing up! It seems he likes carrying the flowers around, it reminds me of Harry – who crawls around with his favourite objects in his mouth too.
Recent Purchases – Nada.
Rediscoveries: I used the Naked 1 shades of Half Baked and Toasted, with the Vice 2 shade of Ambush yesterday and it reminds me of how stupendously good UD eyeshadows used to be.
Weekend Plans: Our current lockdown has been extended (no surprises there with the Delta variant rampaging through our neighbouring state of NSW) and the restrictions have been tightened – no playgrounds, curfews etc. At least, for the moment, Lachlan can go to kinder – which is thankful so he can see his friends and have some meaningful education.
The playground closures have hit hard with the kids as there is nothing much left for them to do outside in a way.
So our weekends are pretty much the same as our week days.
Harry’s first birthday is next Friday (our time). He was born in lockdown and will celebrate his first birthday in lockdown too – although it doesn’t really affect him. The hardest part is finding presents for him that we don’t already have. Our place is one big toyshop.
Favourite part of your personality: I think I am essentially a very kind person, as my collegues in teaching, friends and family tell me. I really do try to help and assist others as best I can. I am a fairly calm person, as well as being organised and practical too. I have a good sense of humour, which I think is pretty essential in life.
I hope Harry has a nice first birthday! What will you do for his birthday?
Seeing as we’re in hard lockdown we can’t have any of his other grandparents or relatives over, so we are going to have a birthday party at home at lunch time – complete with the party food I will be making. Anika is going to make some lovely cup cakes for the day (she is so good at this). We are going to have a zoom call with Anika’s parents.
Thank you for your good wishes and I hope the day turns out to be sunny.
Happy birthday to your grandson. I read last week that NZ has gone into total lockdown (good on you, Jacinda Ardern) based on one – ONE – mysterious case (though the mystery was solved in terms of how this person contracted the virus). I wish my country was shutting the borders, rather than opening them more (and it seems a very “one way” sort of opening).
Oh for the day of the original 2 Naked palettes. We’re going away on Monday and Naked1 would be the palette I’d have taken in the days when I could replace it if I left it behind or dropped it in the lake!
Thank you Mariella. He is going to love his day. He is already exerting his strong personality around the place and getting up to mischief. He can’t walk yet, but pushes his walker around everywhere.
Yes, NZ has definitely taken the right response and I sincerely wish NSW had done so too – because now the Delta variant is everywhere here. The govt. there initially locked down particular areas of the city, which turned out to be the wrong move. We did this last year here and it didn’t work at all. It just created a lot of resentment as well. But now the NSW cases have run away and there are hundreds of new cases every single day.
Our state, Victoria, has always had a more hardened response, and although I don’t like it (who does?) I have more faith that we will get on top of it all.
The hard part has been getting enough pfizer vaccine for the under 40’s – which is set to arrive in the next couple of weeks.
Yep, nothing can beat the original Naked palette and I am sad for you that you lost it as it is definitely your kind of shades.
Sorry, Genevieve, I guess I wasn’t clear. I haven’t lost my original Naked palette (or any of them) but I don’t take them travelling (travelling? what’s that?) any more because I can’t replace them IF I lost them or they got damaged in my luggage.
Here, the biggest issue is those people who can be vaccinated (no medical contraindications) but simply refuse to be vaccinated. We’ve had breakthrough cases too of Covid or the Delta variant in those who are fully vaccinated which is really dismaying but the numbers are small (still surprisingly high but small in relation to the # of cases of unvaccinated still filling up hospital beds.
Your kindness has always shined through here, Genevieve! Love seeing your comments and talking with you. 🙂
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: According to tracking info, my Natasha Denona Circo Loco palette is apparently stuck in Chicago, because Beautylish uses FedEx and FedEx has issues. My other items-Besame Red Velvet lipstick, NARS Sin and Savage blushes, and Fenty Pro Filt’r 110 concealer-have all arrived.
Weekend plans: Worked all day today, grocery run tomorrow, Sunday’s up in the air.
What’s your favorite part about your personality?: I work hard to think things through and I can be very careful and analytical.
Aww! I hope your palette gets back in transit soon!
Thanks! So far it seems to have made its way from Chicago to Independence, KY, and is currently expected to arrive by end of day Sunday!
Circo Loco has arrived! I’ve found a ton of CL looks on YouTube that I look forward to doing, and I’m also starting to mentally create some looks combining CL with other palettes.
Example 1: I’m really strongly envisioning Sydney Grace Cherish on lid and undereye, SG Victoria in crease, SG John on browbone, and ND Firework on inner corner-I think the cool neutrals with a pop of orange will look great!
Example 2: Shimmery halo eye with SG Albert on corners, ND Razzle Dazzle on middle lid, SG Passion on crease and undereye.
Example 3: I think ND Acrobat would blend really well with the blues and browns of UD Naked Wild West! Right now I’m thinking Tex on outer lid, Bud on inner lid, Acrobat in crease, Rustler on undereye.
Last night I ended up placing another Beautylish order: Charlotte Tilbury Hot Lips Hel’s Bells lipstick (originally designed for Helena Bonham Carter and perennially sold out on the CT site) and, on a whim, 3 clearance Becca Glow Glosses-Ruby Fire, Snapdragon, and Dahlia.
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: I bought two more of the Innisfree Daily UV Defense Sunscreen because my sister ended up liking mine and taking it to her dorm. I also bought the Sephora Collection Mircosmooth Multi-tasking Baked Face Palette in “Enchant” based on a recommendation from a coworker. For rediscoveries I wore Milani “Luminoso” in a video today and I realized I’ve been loving it for almost a year now and yet have never worn it outside the house
Weekend plans: Today I went with my sister to get some art supplies that she needs for school, then we got lunch together. I filmed today and will probably be editing for most of tomorrow. Then I have work on Sunday
What’s your favorite part about your personality?: My ability to commit long-term to a project. This can be a double-edged sword as it always means I’m still interested in something my friends have long since forgotten, but that trait has carried me through many difficult projects
Nice of you to let your sister take yours to her dorm, lol!
Recent Purchases: I purchased the Beauty Bay Wilderness palette and got the Lunar Beauty Eternal Eclipse palette as an early birthday present!
Rediscoveries: Juvia’s Place Zulu palette
Weekend plans: Family dinner tomorrow because my niece is moving far far away for graduate school!
What’s your favorite part about your personality?: I’m extremely loyal as a friend.
