Pat McGrath Deep Space Divinity Celestial Odyssey Luxe Quad Review & Swatches
Deep Space Divinity
Pat McGrath Deep Space Divinity Celestial Odyssey Luxe Quad ($54.00 for 0.15 oz.) is a new, limited edition smokier, neutral quad that included three metallic eyeshadows and one matte eyeshadow. All four shades were pigmented, while the matte needed to be built up slightly and the duochrome shimmer was more emollient so it didn’t apply as easily as the brand’s metallic eyeshadows typically do.

Golden Aurora
Golden Aurora is a medium gold with warmer, more orange undertones and a metallic finish. It had opaque pigmentation in a single layer, though the texture was a little drier and more frosted than most of the brand’s metallics, which resulted in slight fallout during blending. It wore nicely for nine and a half hours before fading a bit.

Formula Overview

Pat McGrath's eyeshadows are, generally, supposed to be "super-saturated" with "creamy, soft textures" and "extreme blendability and adherence without creasing." A lot of how well they perform (and to some degree, how they are supposed to be applied and marketed) depends on the type of shades, but by and large, the eyeshadows perform very much as they are described.
The brand released single eyeshadows in March 2019, and the shades have been consistent in quality, look, and feel. They are not removable, unfortunately, so one would have to depot like any other single eyeshadow--I tried using tweezers and lifting on several shades to no avail. The lids are held closed by a weak magnet, so I'm not sure they're as secure as most single eyeshadow compacts in my stash--I wish it really locked in, but there's definitely a magnet that pulls the lid down if it's within 2mm of the base.
The mattes are velvety, blendable, and dense without being thick or too heavy, and they have semi-opaque to opaque pigmentation where a little can go a long way with some of the deeper and richer hues. The satin and pearl finishes are smooth, lightly creamy, and firmer but not dense or thick with good pigmentation, blendability, and easy application. The more metallic finishes tend to be softer, creamy, and smooth with a bit more denseness and no powderiness. The sparkly/glittery shades are often designed to be applied wet for richer coverage or intensity, which has largely been my experience. Most of the shades last between eight and nine hours.

Golden Aurora
LELimited Edition. $25.00.
Rose Nocturne
Rose Nocturne is a deep red with subtle, cool undertones and a matte finish. The eyeshadow had mostly opaque, buildable color coverage paired with a soft, blendable consistency that was finely-milled without being too firmly nor too loosely-pressed into the pan, so fallout wasn’t a concern. It stayed on well for nine hours before fading visibly.

Alien Moon
Alien Moon is a medium-dark, red-based brown base with blue-to-teal shifting pearl that gave it a soft, metallic sheen. The texture was very creamy like with far more slip than most of the brand’s metallic eyeshadows, which seemed to make it apply more thinly.
This resulted in a less even application depending on the brush I used, so something a little softer and fluffier actually blended it out better, and if I used it with a dampened brush, it seemed to sheer out noticeably. It had mostly opaque coverage applied in a single layer dry, though. It lasted well for nine hours before creasing on me.

Dawn Fawntasia
Dawn Fantasia is a rich, medium-dark bronze with warmer, more coppery undertones and a sparkling, metallic finish. The texture was soft, more yielding and very pigmented, so I found that the first time I used it, I picked up far too much product (see swatch). I’d recommend using a lighter hand when working with this shade to avoid fallout. It wore well for 10 hours before fading visibly.

This quad appeals to me with Alien moon attracting my attention, but it is too expensive for a palette I can mostly dupe.
Decided I am picking this up. I think it is intended as a smokier palette and that is what appeals to me. The Mega palette is not for me. I’m grabbing the gorgeous highlighter with..
This is my least favorite quad from Pat McGrath and I regret purchasing it. I didn’t feel like the formula was up to par, and I don’t feel like these shades worked well together.
You’re not alone, Shawne. Mariam A. on YouTube showed very well how flat are these shades compared to the other quads and even the Mega palette Celestial Odissey. The quads are a regret for her too. I’m glad I skipped these. So lazy. I’ll pick Celestial Odissey instead.
Disappointing offering IMO.
This one is far too easy for me to dupe the shades of, plus it looks rather discombobulated in its arrangement of shades. Like mismatched, if that makes any sense.
A nice quad but I think it can be easily duped from any of Pat’s palettes as it contains the obligatory gold, bronze and red shades.
Can we talk about how much smaller the pans are this year!? And with barely a price drop! No special formulas, a dupable color story… I kind of feel ripped off.
