Formula Overview

Pat McGrath's eyeshadows are, generally, supposed to be "super-saturated" with "creamy, soft textures" and "extreme blendability and adherence without creasing." A lot of how well they perform (and to some degree, how they are supposed to be applied and marketed) depends on the type of shades, but by and large, the eyeshadows perform very much as they are described.
The brand released single eyeshadows in March 2019, and the shades have been consistent in quality, look, and feel. They are not removable, unfortunately, so one would have to depot like any other single eyeshadow--I tried using tweezers and lifting on several shades to no avail. The lids are held closed by a weak magnet, so I'm not sure they're as secure as most single eyeshadow compacts in my stash--I wish it really locked in, but there's definitely a magnet that pulls the lid down if it's within 2mm of the base.
The mattes are velvety, blendable, and dense without being thick or too heavy, and they have semi-opaque to opaque pigmentation where a little can go a long way with some of the deeper and richer hues. The satin and pearl finishes are smooth, lightly creamy, and firmer but not dense or thick with good pigmentation, blendability, and easy application. The more metallic finishes tend to be softer, creamy, and smooth with a bit more denseness and no powderiness. The sparkly/glittery shades are often designed to be applied wet for richer coverage or intensity, which has largely been my experience. Most of the shades last between eight and nine hours.

I absolutely love this….I love these shades so much that I’ve got dupes for all of them but might still grab this (the price is pretty nice) just to have one well co-ordinated small grouping of shadows I’d use every day. Really nice! I just hope this becomes available at Sephora in store near me.
It is certainly the vibe this fall/winter, the grungier, earthy tones we’re seeing literally everywhere. And I for one am here for it!
I am in love with this palette and apart from that murky grey shade that doesn’t really fit in with the vibe of the colour story, I love every other shade.
Like Mariella – yes, I have dupes, do I care? Nope!
This is such a lovely palette that I will be picking up.
I have this eyeshadow palette and I really love it but I really do not understand how the third shade (Lunar Luxury) can be described as aged gold? It is the most silver and cooler toned eyeshadow I have in my own collection.
The colors in the eyeshadow palette are so beautiful.
I really love both of these palettes.. was hoping they would make it onto Big S website since ordering from PMG is always a super slow process.
I love the anchoring the dark grey (hey, itβs not black!) provides since I have small super hooded eyes, I need that level of intensity on my outer corners for some lift. I want to pick up both the 5 pans despite having dupes for many of the shades. I just think the quality very much stands out and looks soooo dense and creamy.
Man…these two little PMGs might be my first PMG purchases…I have similar colors in my stash, but, oddly, no dupes among my Viseart, ND, and SG palettes.
To those of you who have other PMG shadows and these, how do you feel they compare to the other PMG shadows?
I saw reviews on this pallet too late! I was so disappointed I missed it, even if I’m not really going out these days. A person can treat themselves once in a while, hey? Oh well, I’ll just have to be more on the ball next time. π
