I will totally cheat and say universal or clear lip liner!

Medium blue red waterproof lip liner. (Think Mrs. Mia Wallace) I either go red/wine/magenta or go home pretty much. No pinks or nudes to speak of in my lipstick stash.

Mine would definitely be the Bare Minerals Marvelous Moxie Lipliner inExhilarated. Its such a beautiful natural pink colour, the liner is soft so can easily be blended all over the lips for a base and lasts a long time on the lips. It extends the wear of any lipstick I put on over it and looks wonderful under a natural toned gloss. Absolute must have

MAC Whirl. I could wear it with just lip balm or under any lipstick, since it works like a nude on me. It’s perfect to softly define my lips, and warm up my color just enough so I don’t look sick.

That’s so difficult! I think Whirl (from MAC) would be my choice (at least at the moment), I love using it to overdraw my lips! But then again, I can’t wear a red lippie with out my Cherry lipliner (also MAC). So I think cheating with a clear lipliner is the way to go!

MAC Nightmoth, followed closely by Chestnut also by MAC. These colors make all my lipsticks more wearable on my pigmented lips. I love these and use one of them on most days.

Yeah, I’m all for the clear lip liner too. I outline the outside of my lips and it keeps my lipstick from “bleeding” into my lip lines, I can’t wear lipstick without it. I’ve never noticed a huge difference in brands tho’.

I only have one lip liner and it is orange. This is not quite as crazy as it sounds. I rarely have problems with colors feathering – I’m far more likely to just smear it all over my face – so I don’t really need liner most of the time. However I do have very pigmented blue-pink toned lips. I use orange lip liner all over underneath corals to keep them from morphing into pink.

While clear is a smart choice, when I think of lip liner, I think multi-tasker because mine was for quite a while when I was younger, in between sharpening I’d use it for my eyes as well as to stain lips a bit before a long lasting sticky clear gloss.. So, if this includes other makeup, I’d choose a medium/deep plum like Empress from Hourglass or something from BITE, or continue the DCd le lipstique by Lancôme in a medium plum lilac gray color called plum because it’s SO natural for shadow and doesn’t budge. I wasn’t expecting to feel perplexed by this question.. Everything in makeup has changed, continues changing, and will change, so formulations and needs don’t necessarily cover all grounds, so using a liner becomes a question of necessity for me..

This is difficult. There are really two that I can’t seem to be without. Mac Chestnut and Mac Stone. They both go with all the lippies & glosses I use.

Sisley’s fat crayon with the black and white stripes. I got the raspberry/berry color, don’t remember the name but it’s a wonderful cool “my lips but better” color. Creamy and non-drying but still stays in place and blends with my lipstick so I don’t have some crayon line around my mouth. It’s expensive but it’s worth it as it performs and lasts like you want it to.

I went for years with only 1 lipliner – MAC Nightmoth – so that one’s easy to choose. Perfect liner for every kind of red and vampy lip, which are the colors you really need a good liner for in the first place.

I don’t use it much but I still like having it just in case I have a lipstick that needs it to work: Rimmel London’s Tiramisu
If I used them more I might try Tilbury’s Iconic Nude, that looks nice

I own lipstick queen invisible lip liner which is great for staying power, but I find that I often need a lipliner to even out the color when I am wearing dark, vampy, berry lips. Right now I am switching between a purple leaning one from rimmel, and a cabernet leaning one from jordana. I find that dark lipsticks tend to be patchier than reds and pinks.
