NYX Envy, Sinful, Betrayal Wicked Lippies Reviews, Photos, Swatches
NYX Wicked Lippies
NYX Envy Wicked Lippie ($6.00 for 0.15 oz.) is a bluish-purple with cool undertones and a metallic finish. It had mostly opaque color coverage, and it had the same really creamy consistency as other shades in the range. This one was loaded with shimmer, which helped to camouflage some of the underlying unevenness of the color itself, so it looked fairly good in person, even if up-close isn’t 100% amazing. It wore well for six and a half hours, and it left behind an eggplant-hued stain behind. NYX Immortal (P, $6.00) is much purpler. Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Technopagan (P, $18.00) is darker, richer. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
NYX Sinful Wicked Lippie ($6.00 for 0.15 oz.) is a muted, medium-dark blue with a glossy finish. The consistency was creamy with a lot of slip, but it applied beautifully with rich, opaque color that went on evenly. It stayed on for six hours. It’s not metallic in its finish, though, and it has barely-there shimmer. Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Vain (P, $18.00) Illamasqua Disciple (P, $24.00) See comparison swatches / view dupes.
NYX Betrayal Wicked Lippie ($6.00 for 0.15 oz.) is a lightly brightened, medium-dark purple with subtle cool undertones and a violet shimmer. It’s not really metallic in finish–more glossy with a faint shimmer that gets lost in it. The texture was creamy with a lot of slip, and it did show in the application, as the color didn’t go on evenly and looked streaky. This one needs a lip primer or pencil to work. It is also easier to work with if you blot it down slightly, as removing some of the slip made it stay in place better. It lasted for four and a half hours and left a fuchsia stain behind. Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Pagan (P, $18.00) is darker, cooler-toned. NARS Train Bleu (P, $25.00) is more matte, warmer. MAC Potent Fig (LE, $16.00) is more muted, slightly warmer. MAC Fervent (LE, $16.00) is lighter, warmer. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Christine, have hou got any thoughts on how Sinful would compare to Melt cosmetics DGAF? Or anyone else maybe? 🙂
Sorry, I don’t have that! Based on my experience with Melt, this formula is a zillion times creamier.
I don’t own DGAF, but from all of the photos I’ve seen, I’d guess that the Sinful Wicked Lippy has some more green tint to it. I don’t see much green in DGAF in photos at all; it looks more like a straight-up vibrant, deep blue.
I love Betrayal, it’s a pity it didn’t apply better. Still a fantastic colour, though. I really like Envy, but I have my heart set on Technopagan, so I’ll skip Envy.
Sinful is the kind of blue I have a hard time with. It’s so gorgeous, but I’d look really ill wearing it, and that isn’t a good look.
I do think I’ll get Betrayal and use it with primer and blot and just MAKE it work 🙂
Technopagan has more depth – it is just a richer shade, but Envy is a nice alternative 🙂
I want them all! Sinful looks like pure perfection and I just love all the shimmer in Envy. I wish Betrayal applied more evenly but I love the color so I want it anyway lol. I’ll just apply a little MAC Punk Couture lipstick underneath to make it work
Can you believe how EVEN Sinful is? Crazy.
Loving Envy, the other blue Sinful not so much, shame about application and pigmentation of Betrayal that would have been fab if better quality. Wondering what sort of look one would go for to carry this off? I’m thinking either very subtle on rest of face and eyes, or all out bold, eyebrows, shadow, blush…. the lot! What do you think?
I agree with your take, Kate – subtle or very bold. I think you can get away with either style! 🙂
Love these reviews for the unusual shades!!!! I mean love and will tell you every time I get to the post in time. Until I see more people wearing them on the streets I’ll need to be happy with your reviews. These colors are so gorgeous!
I live vicariously through many talented people when it comes to their makeup 😉 Nothing wrong with that!
I think betrayal is definitely wearable!
It is!
Sinful and Betrayal look oddly normal on you, haha 🙂
REALLY! Sinful? 😉 I wouldn’t have thought that.
in a swatch ,Betrayal is similar with Poisonberry from Lime Crime ,Envy is so beautiful~
Awesome to hear!
Envy is really neat, definitely be picking that up. Find it funny that it’s not green though, given the name. I feel like the people involved in product names dropped the ball there haha. It’s a shame Betrayal didn’t perform better… I might have to buy it anyways because the colour is stunning… NYX came out with a really drying lip primer so that might be worth a shot to combat the slip and slide issues.
I thought it would be green initially, too!
Man, I’m bummed about Betrayal. I was so hoping it would have a better score, as I’ve been looking for a decent quality, cooler purple that isn’t a MAC LE. I may just have to give it a try, anyway, since it’s so inexpensive. I’ll take your suggestion and try to find a purple pencil that’ll help it out a little.
A few readers also mentioned that NYX’s lip primer is helpful with these!
maybe you could try with a lip liner from nyx also? they have realy dark colors and the pencil formula isn’t slippery at all. i have loads of pencils from them.really good quality
Pretty 😀 Sinful looks very creamy and nice.
It is SO nice!
You’re rockin’ the heck out of these!
Thanks, Ginny!
I think these colors are just beautiful! I’ve never been attracted to anything so weird .. lol.
Still not a purchase for me .. but awesome all the same.
Monica.
Maybe it’s the finish that makes them more interesting to you 🙂
I was hoping to pick up a few of these while in the U.S. but I didn’t make it to an ULTA and didn’t seem them in the one drugstore I went to. Nice that they are permanent though so I don’t have to feel anxious, hehe. 🙂
Yup! NYX confirmed they’re permanent 🙂
NYX Betrayal Wicked Lippie is gorgeous!!! I could definitely make it work by putting a purple liner under the lipstick!
Good idea! 🙂
I think these are beautiful, and wish I could imagine myself wearing them! Maybe Betrayal, although it’s a little dark for me to pull off.
You should try ’em 😉
i have 6 shades , including these 3 , & sinful is my fave of the bunch .
i agree about betrayal , it’s so emollient that it applies unevenly .
i pair them with a lip primer & liner & found them to apply much better .
Which lip primer have you been using with these?
I think your assessment of these shades is spot-on.
Betrayal is such a beautiful color, I feel it’s worth working with. The two blues actually were so much better than I expected. I was very impressed with them.
Any tips for working with Betrayal, Rachel?
Primer first. Then I use a creamy eyeliner pencil in a similar color and fill in on top of the primer. So, my lips aren’t dry, but the eyeliner will grab the lipstick. Then I put the lipstick on with a lip brush to get even coverage.
Thank you!!
Definitely getting Wicked. It’s gorgeous!
And Betrayal lives up to it’s name I see lol.
It will look good over something like MAC’s Nightmoth, but why couldn’t it just look good on its own.
It was the one I was most excited about too.
HAHA! Yes, yes it does…
Envy !! Such a beautiful color. I’m liking these wicked lippies. Something different and fun, for a change.
It is a pretty shade!
Envy is so pretty…
I’m happy there’s an alternative to OCC’s Technopagan, which I adore, but if it’s not a color you’ll wear often, $6 is much nicer.
I NEED Sinful in my life!! It would be perfect for spirit events at my school since our colors are blue and gold 🙂
Perfect!!
I like Betrayal!
Yay!
How does sinful compare to the lip tar color RX? I was wearing that when I first heard about the wicked lippies and I thought the colors looked similar.
I think RX is a bit lighter!
I think Envy is similar enough to Technopagan that I can pass on it, but I’ll definitely have to get Sinful! Too bad Betrayal’s so streaky– it’s such a beautiful color. I can’t help but think, like, cosmic eggplant. 😛
If only it was more even!
These lipsticks are so pretty.Unfortunately I rarely look good in dark lipstick like these. But I’m going to try one anyway, lo! Maybe wicked.
Worth a shot 😉
Haha, Envy is a DIRECT rip-off of Technopagan.
I will totally be picking up to wear until I can afford the OCC one though, no shame in my game. 😉
It is very similar!
Should any of these be in stores yet?
I haven’t heard if they are or aren’t (I didn’t get any official info) – but I know on Twitter NYX confirmed they’re permanent.
Nooooo why did Betrayal have to be such a letdown?! I had such high hopes for it!
I wonder if I could mix Envy or Betrayal with a red lipstick (probably something matte or a little frosty) to create a purple…
There’s an idea…
WHOA WHOA WHOA.
Sinful needs to be in my life. Stat! Other brands take note: Nyx did it, and they did it for $6…just sayin’…
I like the other two, and I feel like they’ll be a good cost-effective alternative to Pagan and Technopagan… but I still really want Technopagan 😉 Fortunately, as a purple lipstick addict, I’ll probably find a way to justify sourcing both! ^_^ Aah, I love it when I can soothe my wallet-conscience that way…
Yup, it can be done, and without breaking the bank, too — so, no excuses!
Which of these do you think is most similar to KVD’s Poe? Maybe you would have to layer Envy and Betrayal?
Maybe Envy with Wicked? Poe is very dark, but it is still fairly blue (so not like Betrayal).
Hi, I have many times thought that maybe you should watermark your photos because so often I see them used on Instagram and on eBay by people selling lipsticks. It is immediately recognizable that they are your swatch photos because those of us that know and appreciate your hard work and dedication to these swatches and reviews know your photos. I am not trying to cause problems or anything but I just feel like you should get the true credit you deserve. I know I greatly appreciate what you do and you’ve saved me a lot of hassle by giving thorough and unbiased reviews.
Thank you for the suggestion! 🙂 I find watermarking to be very ugly, so I don’t do it to maintain good photos for my audience!
