NYX Wicked Lippies
NYX Wicked Lippies

NYX Envy Wicked Lippie ($6.00 for 0.15 oz.) is a bluish-purple with cool undertones and a metallic finish. It had mostly opaque color coverage, and it had the same really creamy consistency as other shades in the range. This one was loaded with shimmer, which helped to camouflage some of the underlying unevenness of the color itself, so it looked fairly good in person, even if up-close isn’t 100% amazing. It wore well for six and a half hours, and it left behind an eggplant-hued stain behind. NYX Immortal (P, $6.00) is much purpler. Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Technopagan (P, $18.00) is darker, richer. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

NYX Sinful Wicked Lippie ($6.00 for 0.15 oz.) is a muted, medium-dark blue with a glossy finish. The consistency was creamy with a lot of slip, but it applied beautifully with rich, opaque color that went on evenly. It stayed on for six hours. It’s not metallic in its finish, though, and it has barely-there shimmer. Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Vain (P, $18.00) Illamasqua Disciple (P, $24.00) See comparison swatches / view dupes.

NYX Betrayal Wicked Lippie ($6.00 for 0.15 oz.) is a lightly brightened, medium-dark purple with subtle cool undertones and a violet shimmer. It’s not really metallic in finish–more glossy with a faint shimmer that gets lost in it. The texture was creamy with a lot of slip, and it did show in the application, as the color didn’t go on evenly and looked streaky. This one needs a lip primer or pencil to work. It is also easier to work with if you blot it down slightly, as removing some of the slip made it stay in place better. It lasted for four and a half hours and left a fuchsia stain behind. Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Pagan (P, $18.00) is darker, cooler-toned. NARS Train Bleu (P, $25.00) is more matte, warmer. MAC Potent Fig (LE, $16.00) is more muted, slightly warmer. MAC Fervent (LE, $16.00) is lighter, warmer. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

I love Betrayal, it’s a pity it didn’t apply better. Still a fantastic colour, though. I really like Envy, but I have my heart set on Technopagan, so I’ll skip Envy.
Sinful is the kind of blue I have a hard time with. It’s so gorgeous, but I’d look really ill wearing it, and that isn’t a good look.
I do think I’ll get Betrayal and use it with primer and blot and just MAKE it work 🙂

Loving Envy, the other blue Sinful not so much, shame about application and pigmentation of Betrayal that would have been fab if better quality. Wondering what sort of look one would go for to carry this off? I’m thinking either very subtle on rest of face and eyes, or all out bold, eyebrows, shadow, blush…. the lot! What do you think?

Love these reviews for the unusual shades!!!! I mean love and will tell you every time I get to the post in time. Until I see more people wearing them on the streets I’ll need to be happy with your reviews. These colors are so gorgeous!

Envy is really neat, definitely be picking that up. Find it funny that it’s not green though, given the name. I feel like the people involved in product names dropped the ball there haha. It’s a shame Betrayal didn’t perform better… I might have to buy it anyways because the colour is stunning… NYX came out with a really drying lip primer so that might be worth a shot to combat the slip and slide issues.

Man, I’m bummed about Betrayal. I was so hoping it would have a better score, as I’ve been looking for a decent quality, cooler purple that isn’t a MAC LE. I may just have to give it a try, anyway, since it’s so inexpensive. I’ll take your suggestion and try to find a purple pencil that’ll help it out a little.

maybe you could try with a lip liner from nyx also? they have realy dark colors and the pencil formula isn’t slippery at all. i have loads of pencils from them.really good quality

i have 6 shades , including these 3 , & sinful is my fave of the bunch .

i agree about betrayal , it’s so emollient that it applies unevenly .

i pair them with a lip primer & liner & found them to apply much better .

Primer first. Then I use a creamy eyeliner pencil in a similar color and fill in on top of the primer. So, my lips aren’t dry, but the eyeliner will grab the lipstick. Then I put the lipstick on with a lip brush to get even coverage.

How does sinful compare to the lip tar color RX? I was wearing that when I first heard about the wicked lippies and I thought the colors looked similar.

Haha, Envy is a DIRECT rip-off of Technopagan.
I will totally be picking up to wear until I can afford the OCC one though, no shame in my game. 😉

WHOA WHOA WHOA.

Sinful needs to be in my life. Stat! Other brands take note: Nyx did it, and they did it for $6…just sayin’…

I like the other two, and I feel like they’ll be a good cost-effective alternative to Pagan and Technopagan… but I still really want Technopagan 😉 Fortunately, as a purple lipstick addict, I’ll probably find a way to justify sourcing both! ^_^ Aah, I love it when I can soothe my wallet-conscience that way…

Hi, I have many times thought that maybe you should watermark your photos because so often I see them used on Instagram and on eBay by people selling lipsticks. It is immediately recognizable that they are your swatch photos because those of us that know and appreciate your hard work and dedication to these swatches and reviews know your photos. I am not trying to cause problems or anything but I just feel like you should get the true credit you deserve. I know I greatly appreciate what you do and you’ve saved me a lot of hassle by giving thorough and unbiased reviews.

We try to approve comments within 24 hours (and reply to them within 72 hours) but can sometimes get behind and appreciate your patience! 🙂 If you have general feedback, product review requests, off-topic questions, or need technical support, please contact us directly. Thank you for your patience!
