NYX Dusty Rose Blush Review, Photos, Swatches
NYX Dusty Rose Blush
NYX Dusty Rose Powder Blush ($5.99 for 0.14 oz.) is described as a “matte rose pink.” It’s a light-medium, rosy pink with neutral-to-warm undertones and a mostly matte finish. NARS Anguilla (P, $39.00) is lighter, warmer, cream. Divergent Misty Rose (LE) is darker, warmer, less pink. theBalm Houndstooth (P, $22.00) is cooler-toned, more shimmery. Urban Decay Overexposed (LE) is lighter. bareMinerals Glamour (LE, $19.00) is lighter. NARS Love (LE, $29.00) is warmer. Tarte Elevated (LE, $26.00) is browner, less pink. Hourglass Radiant Magenta (P, $35.00) is lighter, warmer. Make Up For Ever #330 HD Blush (P, $26.00) is a cream product, warmer. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
It’s a more buildable formula that can be applied more subtly but is still very pigmented and can be applied with true-to-pan color. The texture of Dusty Rose is very soft, silky, and smooth–but it can be a little powdery, so use a lighter touch with your brush to avoid kicking up excess product. The pigmentation was excellent; it was easy to get full-color coverage, but it could also be sheered out or applied with a lighter hand for a softer blush. When I wore it on my cheeks, the color was true for seven and a half hours before it started to fade.

It has a nice shade 🙂
Glad you liked it, Helena!
Haha my eyes immediately turned to the lipstick and I was wondering if it’s Rose Grenat when I saw it IS 😉 What a stunner!
Haha!
This is a truly flattering color! And Christine, the way you’ve done your eyes and lips, all of it together, you look naturally flushed and glowing! I really like this on you! What a beautiful blush! 🙂
The way these are packaged have always reminded me of Chanel’s awhile back. Do you know what Im referencing? I forget what they were called, but they had eyeshadows as well in this pressed pattern and the names revolved around planets, I think. Are the companies related? <3
Nothing is coming to mind, but I’m not sure how back you’re referencing! I’ve only followed Chanel for maybe five years?
The Irreelle (I may be spelling that wrong) “line” had a quilted-type pattern if I remember correctly. 🙂
Hi Dia! YES! That’s it!!! Thank you so much! 😀
Thank you so much, Lotus!
You’re welcome, Christine! This look on you is definitely a favorite of mine. The color works effortlessly! Everyone has some shade:/shades that make people go, “wow!,” and this one truly maximizes a happy glowing Christine! 🙂
Ooh… Now you’re just adding fuel to the fire under my Nyx cart! The exchange rate is so good right now I’m getting very tempted to pull the trigger on some online things I’ve had stewing for months now! 😀
Oooh! You should take advantage of a good exchange rate then 😉
Out of your earlier comparison swatches, this is one I really liked. It’s ability to walk the line of the warm/cool thing puts me in mind of Illamaqua’s Naked Rose which is also a fav. Going to have to try and track this down. NYX is a difficult brand for me to get my hands on.
I never see NYX in stores really, and honestly, a lot of drugstore packaging gets tampered with, so I do most of mine online. I nabbed all the NYX blushes I featured from Cherry Culture when they had 50% off NYX!
Thanks for the tip.. completely forgot about Cherry Culture. Thought they only shipped within USA, but see they have Int’l. 😀
I love this color. It’s the type of shade that looks good on almost every skin tone.
It’s a versatile shade!
Wow, I’m pleasantly surprised to see a NYX product receive your recommendation! NYX is one of my favorite makeup brands. They have so many hits.
I’ve given several NYX products awards over the years, actually!
Sorry, guess this is the first I’ve noticed!
Ooh, I was just mentioning 🙂 You can see the most recent awards I gave here – http://www.temptalia.com/2014-editors-choice-awards! NYX took home 5!
I’m definitely picking up this shade whenever possible 😀 looks so pretty!
Yay!
This is such a lovely shade. It looks quite neutral but it still adds enough pop of color on your cheeks.
I totally agree with you, Ryou!
I have to get me a NYX blush or 2…I think there is one that is a close dupe to the MAC Mineralize blush I missed from the Quite Naturally collection of a few years ago so that’s going to be first up on my list. But this colour, while gorgeous, is a bit warm for me.
They’re worth trying! The major downside is just that they can be on the powdery side.
I can barely pay attention to the blush because I can’t stop staring at those lips! You are rocking that color!! LOVE it on you!
Aww, thank you Fancie!
This is one of the shades I always bring out in the autumn/winter months!
Nice!
Ooh I’m going to write this one down, I’ve been looking for a nice matte slightly dirty pink like this.
Hope it works for you!
Ooooo. I really like this. I will look at picking this up next time I am in an Ulta.
Let me know if you end up trying it, Andie! I’d love to hear your thoughts.
I like it!
Have you tried NYX blush range before? I feel like I’ve asked you this before, but I’m spacing.
i have this one and I love it. Great quality for the price. I am light, olive toned and this is a good color for my skin color. I wear it on the sheer side as I do all my blushes. I was very happy to see this review.
Happy to hear it works well on your skin tone, Patsyann! 😀
Ah I’m so glad this got your recommendation! 😀 I ordered this from ULTA when they had free shipping for $25 order + BOGO50 on NYX products. I ordered this cause it seemed to maybe match my medium-deep skintone. Hopefully it will. I’ve been wanting a more “natural” color that is more muted because a lot of my blushes seem a more brighter.
thank you for the review! 🙂
Fingers crossed it works out for you, Somayea! Keep me posted!
Thank you Christine! The color worked out perfectly! The color probably won’t last, because most blushes don’t. Not even the Balm Instain blushes 🙁
But I’m glad I got it!
Aww! 🙁 Have you tried using a cream blush and setting with powder? Sometimes the combo and layering process helps longevity!
Did you use a natural hair brush with this blush? My only blush brushes are both synthetic hair and I found it really hard to get much pigment with this. I’m not sure if it was that my synthetic brushes that was causing the issue or if I just happened to get dud (not mad over it at this price point, but I was disappointed since most people say Nyx products are average to good quality). :/
Hey!
I used MAC’s 150 – so that’s a dual-fibre one!
It’s so nice to see such a product that performs so well at that price point! I’m adding it to my wishlist :); it looks like something I would reach for very often!
I was really happy it did, too!
Loove it on you, its lovely paired with an all-guerlain look. I was worried at first that they would discontinue the blush because they discontinued the eyeshadows, but they wouldn’t dare do such a travesty!
Thank you, Elana! xo
I love this blush! I’ve been eyeing it for some time now and after seeing it on you looking so beautifully, I think I’ll go out and get it!
I hope you can try it, Vivian!
I picked this up for my SIL and did not think to pick one up for me. I think tomorrow I will have myself a Pre-Mother’s Day Celebration! 🙂
Celebration Haul*
Did you end up getting it, Shipra?
hmmm, This is a hint warmer then my beloved Armani shade but it might be a suitable replacement when I’m out!
Woohoo!!
I’m so annoyed, a local store has started stocking this brand, but NOT the powder blushes…
That sucks! 🙁
That color gives you such a natural glow! NYX is so budget friendly too…
Thank you, Ayesha!
I purchased this the other day before I had seen your review! I’m glad I snagged this up!
Yay!!
