NYX Desert Rose Blush Review, Photos, Swatches
NYX Desert Rose Blush
NYX Desert Rose Powder Blush ($5.99 for 0.14 oz.) is described as a “matte burgundy pink.” It’s a vibrant, medium-dark, pink-berry with a soft, pearly finish. Burberry Hydrangea Pink (P, $42.00) is is lighter. MAC Supernova (LE, $25.00) is more shimmery, slightly more muted. NARS Mata Hari (P, $29.00) is a touch more matte, cooler-toned. Kevyn Aucoin Neolita (P, $37.00) is warmer, darker. Milani Bella Rosa (11) (P, $7.99) is brighter. Clinique Berry Pop (P, $21.00) is cooler-toned. NARS 413 BLKR (P, $29.00) is slightly more muted, matte. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
NYX describes their powder blush formula in a way that’s pretty confusing: “delivers sheer, silky color that glides on,” followed by “the formula is richly-pigmented and lasts for hours.” ULTA’s description says “highly pigmented,” “rich color,” and “rich pigmentation.” I’m going to interpret that as a more buildable formula that can be applied more subtly but is still very pigmented and can be applied with true-to-pan color, but I think NYX should clarify or update their description to avoid confusion. It is nicely pigmented with fairly true-to-pan color payoff, and the texture is soft, a little powdery, but blendable on the skin, which is much appreciated given the brightness of this shade. The color wore well for seven and a half hours on me.

I own this shade and I absolutely love it! I have an olive skin tone and I feel it compliments me pretty well 🙂
YAY!! What do you pair it with (eyes/lips)?
I end up wearing it lightly applied since I really enjoy wearing bold looks. I’ll usually wear this with a smokey purple eye or pink lip. But if it’s a simple black liner, mascara and gloss sort of day, I’ll build it up just a little more :).
Very nice, Sasha! Thank you for sharing!
I don’t think I have this shade, and it’s gorgeous! I will definitely pick it up soon!
Enjoy, Danielle!
I own Desert Rose, as well as, Coco, Copper, Orange and Mocha. I also enjoy wearing their blush sticks. Mocha is one of my go-to shades. I am a MAC NC50, MUFHD 177.
Thank you for sharing your top picks for your skin tone, Chris! Super helpful!
Wow, that is quite pigmented! I’m very pale, so I’d probably just tap my brush on the surface, tap off excess, THEN put it on, lol!
Also, did anyone else think of the Sting song by the same name when they saw this? It is now stuck in my head.
Good idea 🙂
I thought of that song, too! I’m going to put this blush on my list of things to check out at Ulta, even though I’d get an earworm every time I see the name.
Omg your face is glowing 🙂
Aw, thanks Chanel!
It’s a bit too red for my skin tone, but I love how true to pan this applies on you.
Thank you! 🙂
I agree that the description is a bit off. It’s a gorgeous blush and lovely shade nonetheless though!
It is! 😀
It reminds me of theBalm Toile and Tarte Natural Beauty mixed… I wonder if that would work if I did that..
You should try that combo!
I just love their blushes! This one is very pretty on you!
Thanks a lot, Fancie!
What a great BLKR dupe
So true!
what lipstick/lipgloss are you wearing? it’s so beautiful!
On face: Guerlain Parure de Lumiere Foundation, Guerlain Les Voilettes Loose Powder. On lips: Guerlain Rose Grenat Rouge G.
This colour is so vibrant and gorgeous – I was hoping you’d review it! 😀 Not sure where Nyx got ‘burgundy’ from though, LOL! When I saw that description on the website I actually opened up your swatch post again, because I thought I’d remembered the name wrong!
LOL! 😉 They don’t always line up their names/descriptions.
Desert rose looks pretty lovely on u… more of a red blush on your fairer skin tone.. 😉
Thank you!
Nice to see some quality products being reviewed here!I really like the color selection in this palette. These all look interesting, especially the desert rose.
Have you tried NYX blushes before, Nicole?
This is such a gorgeous color! I have quite a few NYX blushes but not this one, must get this!
Which ones do you have, Ankita?
I have this color, Mocha and another similar one (maybe Amber?). I bought them all at the same time about a year ago, and since then they have all seemed to fade to the same color. Have you noticed this with any of your NYX blushes?
I haven’t, but I’ve only had mine for a month or so!
