Neutrals with Smoldering Greens Look

Neutrals with Smoldering Greens Look

If you’re wary to wear color, one of my favorite places to wear it is in the crease.  You can go as heavy or as light as you want, but it often looks subtler because most of the time your eyes are open–so it just peeks out.  I’m so anxious for final samples of Jealousy Wakes, because I want to swatch it against Black Emerald (which is definitely darker), but I think they could make a nice gradient of color.

You will need the following…

For eyes, start by applying Smudgeproof all over the lid and above the crease with the 242 to lay down your eyeshadow base.  Layer Blonde Amber eyeshadow all over the lower lid with the 239.  Then, apply Black Emerald eyeshadow into the outer crease, bringing it just over halfway into the crease with the 222.  Next, apply Bronze Topaz eyeshadow lightly on the outer third of the lid with the 239.  Apply Blonde Amber eyeshadow very lightly on the brow bone to highlight with the 239.   Next, apply #20 liner on the lower lash line, and then smudge with Blonde Amber eyeshadow.  Coat lashes with Film Noir mascara to finish the look.

For cheeks, apply Betty Lou-Manizer on the apples of the cheeks and sweep towards the temple with the 116.

For lips, apply Pink Tulle lipgloss for a complementing lip.

It is! It is a good mix of green and black–not super black and dirty but still really dark.

I’m hoping it won’t, so anyone who does want one can get it! LOL!

Christine, green is definitely your colour! You look so fantastic with those jewel tones of green. You are flawless and amazing as always. Great look!

That is just about the prettiest look I’ve seen. I’ve been seriously digging the emeralds and greens this summer coupled with the coppers and brown shades, so yay! for this look!!

You know how to make me happy, Christine. All you have to do is break out the green eyeshadow. LOL You look lovely. How do you like Betty Lou? I want to buy it, but I hope I can see a review first(?).

This is super pretty, however the greens you used aren’t as pretty as “JEALOUSY WAKES”. I can’t wait for June 21st 😉

Your eyebrows are amazing! I’m so jealous! They are so natural but always look so polished. You are a lucky girl 🙂 The makeup look is beautiful too!

Awesome! I was just wondering how I could work some bright colors into my eyemakeup but still have it be (semi) office appropriate. I just got my 120 color palette and I am dying to use all the fun brights! I’m going to try something similar tomm!

Christine, your skin looks so FLAWLESS here! The combination of the MUFE HD and the Guerlain powder is a great one. Plus the green liner pops nicely against hazel eyes.

Love this look! It’s so pretty and I love how you matched your shirt! I do that too! I’ve never worn greens until recently and I’m loving the color for summer!

The Wonder Woman palette is what started it! But I just got the Chanel quad in Lilium and loved it! I have hazel brown eyes and never thought greens would look good on me. I am wanting to get Mac Juxt and Sumptuous Olive to wear together. Something tells me it will look good!

Beautiful beautiful! I didn’t think I could pull off greens until I tried some of your tutorials! I’m itching for Jealously Wakes!

Again, this look is amazing!

The forest green eyeliner looks just amazing! Will definitely be getting that soon. You may just break me of my purple fixation.

Absolutely gorgeous look, as always. Christine,I know you said that Jealous Jordana is a good dupe for this but what about UD’s Loaded (which I think you have/had in the BOS III)? I’m also wondering how close it is to MAC’s newer Bows and Curtsies (which I couldn’t get in store but which is still available online; I’ve been trying to resist, based on your comment that it’s not that terrific and also on the “it wasn’t meant to be” belief, when I got to the counter and it was sold out!

May I just say, S.T.U.N.N.I.N.G!
Would you say that Black Emerald shade can be duped by the green shade from Nars Blade Runner? I really love the green but I don’t want to fork over $95 for one shade I really love (other threes, I think I can manage with Nars Cyprus and Nouveau Monde).

Thank you, Liz! 🙂 You could try Night Porter (I believe that’s the green one) – Blade Runner will totally work but it’s greener.

Never really thought about lining my lower lashline until I came across your site! Thanks for making a difference in my make up routine and budget! lol

This is an absolutely FANTASTIC look! I can’t wait for the launch! I may have to get 2 just so I can have a back up lol. I am happy to see a couple of different ways to wear Jealousy Wakes as well.

Hey, btw, have you had your boards yet?

I love the green in the crease and the soft bronzey shade on the lid… It’s a great combination I wouldn’t have thought of, but I’m definitely trying it!

I’ve said this before – you do such a great favor for those of us with brown eyes! I love that you show us both the more subtle and more dramatic use of strong color like this emerald. Also love the cheek and lip colors you paired to complement the deep green. Thanks, Christine!

Gorgeous! I definitely will be trying this soon…Looks like I can match most of those colors pretty closely with my Chanel Regard Perlee quad along with a shade or two from my UD Naked palette! The boyfriend needs to take me out to eat at a nice restaurant this weekend to give me an excuse to recreate this look 😛

Christine!!!!

this look is GORGEOUS! Awesome! I was so not sure abt the kind of makeup I would wear for my graduation… I just found out the perfect one!

Love TEMPTALIA <3

Could you please recomend some dupes for the eye shadows? As I said in the comment above, I really really loved this look and would like to wear it for my graduation party but I live in Brazil and we don’t have all those make up brands here. Could you recomend dupes from NARS, MAC or NYX?
If you have the time to do that I would be very happy! Thank you!

Any neutral would work, really – easily something you’d have at home; the idea just being something slightly warmer and beige. For the green, you could try NARS Night Porter!

I have to admit I used this look for an inspiration of yesterday’s party makeup, but I ended up doing something different: brown/bronze on eyelid, golden greenish on the crease (mixing Honey and Graffiti by Urban Decay) and then Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliner in Mildew in the upper and lower lash. Afterwards, an orangey Fred Farrugia blush (very subtle) and Orange Poppy Estee Lauder Pure Color Gloss lipstick. I have a pic somewhere hehe. I’ll try to recreate this look on my upcoming traineeship period at work! 😉

I really like this, and think it’s a great suggestion for those of us afraid of bright shadows! I have a question though… how long does it take you to do a look like this? I don’t mean the time it takes for you to come up with the idea for a new look and tweak it until it’s right, but just how long does it take you to do all of the steps? I often want to try different looks, but I’m intimidated by the thought of spending 30 minutes on my eyes alone.

For me, maybe 10 minutes, which actually includes the idea part. I’ve spent 30+ minutes on my eyes only a handful of times – and most of that is just trying to translate some idea onto the eye!

Very pretty! I like how the colors are so minimalist, but still makes the eye pop with the green hue. A nice office eye makeup technique.

Could you recommend some MAC blues to use with this type of look? I was wondering if Freshwater, Deep Truth or Flashtrack would work? Would it look too much?

I just did this look 5 minutes ago and it looks really great! I used MAC Amber Lights & Steamy instead. I’m not very creative and never would have thought to put a bronze and a green together. Neat! I paired it with NARS Sheer Glow foundation in “Punjab”, NARS “Angelika” blush, NARS “Casino” bronzer, and YSL Gloss Pur in “Pure Sorbet”

Really lovely look! Must try this 🙂

Also, while this is totally irrelevant, I love your eyebrows. I see so many bloggers who are great at make-up but have plucked their eyebrows to oblivion! Nice to see someone who has well shaped brows for once.

This eye makeup look is gorgeous! I love neutral color pops because I’m a little afraid of wearing bold colors all over but love a pop of bright color as liner. Great job!

Beautiful! Also I just realized I have a shade very similar to the blackened emerald – it’s by E.L.F., from their green mineral eyeshadow trio 🙂

I didn’t realize Jealousy Wakes was your color! I have been wanting to buy it the next time I’m at the MAC store near my house ever since I first saw it! It’s just one of those colors you look at and know is going to be beautiful on anyone! I love it! You should be soo proud of yourself(: This look is gorge btw!

Oh, such a beautiful look!!! I am embarrased to say that I have slacked and did not catch Jealousy Wakes. I absolutely LOVE green shadows, but Le Mete is out of my budget. Could you provide some dupes for this shadow (other than jealousy wakes) and a dupe for the liner? WOuld really appreciate it. Headed over to MAC to check on availability of JW.

Christine,
I know you gave some dupes for these colors, but I don’t own NARS so I was wondering if you could give the closest MAC dupes for these colors – especially the emerald green one. Thanks!
