Double Take

NARS Double Take Overexposed Glow Highlighter ($42.00 for 0.22 oz.) is a medium gold with warm, orange undertones and a luminous sheen. It seemed more metallic initially but ended up applying with a softer finish that did not emphasize my skin’s natural texture.

The consistency was smooth, moderately dense, and had no powderiness at all; it felt similar to the brand’s Dual-Intensity formula to me. It had good pigmentation that was easy to sheer out or build up to truly full coverage if desired. The highlighter wore well for eight and a half hours on me.

Makeup Look
On face:
  • Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Foundation
  • Laura Mercier Loose Translucent Powder
On eyes:
  • NARS Love Game Eyeshadow Palette
On lips:
  • NARS Zambeze Photogloss Lip Lacquer

A part of me is disappointed that this is not suitable for me, but the other part is extremely grateful, LOL! I may have picked up a good 20 or so highlighters over the past few months… I really only wanted this because it’s NARS, and because Man Ray. However, it’s still really pretty, and I imagine it working beautifully across many skintones.

Hi Christine

The highlighter is absolutely gorgeous ans looks lovely on you.

Do you which retailers will have the collection and the dates.

Thanks

This looks SO beautiful – the presentation, the finish – EVERYTHING. But reading that it’s got warm, orange undertones and seeing how much more orange it is than a few other highlighters that are already too orange-toned for me had stopped me from twitching over wanting this…it just wouldn’t work for me at all. So beautiful on you though, Christine!

I know I probably gonna be annoying saying that this highlighter is worth a splurge 😉 I just got it today and it’s very pretty champagne gold, not orange at all. The colour is super flattering because it’s on the warm-neutral side. I’m very pale and I’m surprised how it looks on my skin. Usually I have the same issues with highlighters – most of them turn too orange/ yellow on me.

According to Sephora’s website, it isn’t even available within 150 kms of me (it might be arriving though – I saw the empty spots in the Nars gondola for the Man Ray stuff) – considering Champagne Pop is too warm for me and this looks more orange than Champagne Pop, I won’t even consider getting it unless I can try it in-store first and then, if it looks great, I will change my mind but I won’t buy it unless I can try it first.

I’ll have to check this out, I like the description of orange undertones and a luminous sheen finish.
This wasn’t originally something I was planning to keep an eye, but this review has changed my mind. 🙂

So lovely, but I already have Champange Pop and it’s a little dark for me. I am eager to see how the rest of the collection comes out as I like the look of several items.

Also Christine, did something happen tool the best of holiday items list you had? I can’t seem to find it on mobile anymore.

There’s an error that has to be addressed, but my brother-in-law is currently under mandatory evacuation due to California wildfires, and it really is not a priority given that situation at this time. Once he’s available, it will definitely be fixed – I just don’t know when that will be.

Christine, I’m so sorry to hear your in-laws have been deeply affected by the devastating wildfires in CA. Praying for safety for those evacuated and those battling the fires.
