Meh. Take away Oscura and it’s a boring palette. And I really don’t like the artwork on the lid.
I meant “Obscura.” (It’s misspelled in the arm swatch picture.)
I think it’s actually “Oscura” as the swatch photo says — on the NARS site the product listing also says “Oscura”. 😉
Just my inability to proofread coming through for the win per usual! 😉
I like the word “Obscura” better. Lol
Oh I LOOOOOOOOOOOOVE the color story of that eye palette. Though I’m starting to accept that for the things I love most, I probably have decent dupes. I don’t know this artist, and the packaging isn’t thrilling me. Think you’ll be reviewing this line?
I think some of those shimmers are very pretty and I like weird art so the cover is quite interesting to me. However, I don’t really find that whats inside matches the outside (not a huge deal, but I like things that match more). I could see myself wearing the shadows. I don’t care for the lip colors as they aren’t ones I could see myself wearing enough to actually own them.
Agreed that it doesn’t match and I prefer things that match. Interestingly I just found this quote in an article: “The idea, Tingley says, was to juxtapose the aesthetic of the packaging with the colorful shades. “You open it up and realize everything is so wearable in there, but the outside is so bizarre,” he says.”
I think Nars is what keeps me out of the stores. If I see these in person, suspect i’m a goner. The palette seems in the same vein as Fleur Fatale and Provocateur, each of which is a + for me. And I think they’d complement one another. Need? Hardly. The matte pencils sound interesting, as well. The art does not speak to me as much as the Guy Bourdain (so, shoot me…) or even the Stephen Klein, as no dark humor. I doubt that anything he does in 19 will have the universal/sell out appeal that Hot Tryst did. Have to admit, I do fall for FN’s general aesthetic, but I can wait for sneak peeks or reviews, should you select these.
I can’t say I’m a fan of the art.
Meh. I liked the Erdem release a lot more. I agree that what’s inside the palette just doesn’t seem to match the outside that much. I like the art but that’s basically no reason to buy it. Also, I don’t actually know who that artist even is.
I love that NARS collaborates with artists. Will definitely pick something up from this collection — definitely one of the Audacious lipsticks, considering the rest. Curious to see what the Velvet Matte Lip Pencil set looks like!
Just found a pic of the lip pencils on thecut.com! Wonder when they’re coming out? I’m definitely tempted because I love the formula. The lipstick packaging is really tempting me, though, too…
Oooh!! Thanks for the tip – just went and checked out the photo there. Seems like a nice assortment of shades. Hopefully these wear well, VMLP sets can be hit or miss I’ve found, even though I like the formula and format in general. For the art, I do like the illustration on the case(?) of the VMLP set and the Audacious lipsticks better than the one on the eyeshadow palette. 🙂
Actually thanks again for pointing out that article on The Cut in general — the interview bits with the artist are quite interesting to know about in relation to how he designed the shades and why he created the illustrations he did for this collection.
The swatches look more like digital art than actual product pictures :/
Yathink? My suspicions always err on the side of computer generated imagery. Manipulation of swatches and the consumer.
Pass. Too much coming out over the next few weeks that really grabs me..
Just out of curiosity, what are you most excited about?
I am more excited about ABH Riviera, Viseart Soleil, Violet Voss Sugar Crystals… must be the winter blues driving my excitement towards more tropical/brighter palettes. My skintone seems to support muted as well as brights. Lately, I’ve been wearing simple bright monochromatic eyes with a hit of metallic or shimmer on center lid. These palettes very much feed into that.
The e/s palette does look to be a great set of shades for my blue-green eye color. Very utilitarian for me. Just would need to pull in a few of my favorite mattes and satins. Will have to see what it looks like with real life swatches and all.
The lipsticks appear a little too “basic” for me. Or at least shades I have already.
It’s pretty except for that warm brown but not understanding the all shimmer thing. I’d rather try the new CT than this. And I was not impressed with the pillow talk palette at all.
Too many pretties coming?
Not so sure about the art cover – and with NARS you never can tell, but I like the shades in the palette.
I don’t mind the artwork. I do like the shadows. Do I need it? No. I am not smitten with the new audacious lipsticks. I’m curious to see the matte velvet lip set. It breaks my heart to say, I am underwhelmed.
This palette doesn’t appeal to me at all. I don’t like the art or the color scheme.
I love that Nars collaborates with artists (rather than YouTubers like many brands) but I wish he would do more collections with female artists.
Word to this.
Oooh!! I love this. Will you be reviewing this collection?
The artwork on the lid….I don’t want that in my house. It’s disturbing.
I’m not familiar with this artist, but I have to say I like the palette art a lot. The shadow colors aren’t anything unique, but I think they’d be a great everyday palette for the likes of me. I agree with kjh that this would pair well with Provocateur.
