NARS Tolede Lipstick Review, Photos, Swatches

NARS Tolede Lipstick
NARS Tolede Lipstick

NARS Tolede Lipstick ($26.00 for 0.12 oz.) is described as a “pink rose.” It’s a subtly warm-toned, rosy pink with a soft, satiny finish. Giorgio Armani Blush is warmer. Tom Ford Indian Rose is slightly more plum. Becca Valentina is more plum. Bobbi Brown nude Rose is darker. MAC Gem of Roses is a touch more plum.

The color payoff is mostly opaque with a very faint translucency. It had a lightly creamy, glide-on texture that applied evenly, smoothly, and didn’t pull or tug on the lips. Tolede lasted for four and a half hours, just above average, and was actually lightly hydrating during the time I wore it.  While several pieces from NARS’ summer collection are rather bright and bold, Tolede is a great everyday shade that I see working on many skin tones. I think it’s a bit of a sleeper–not as eye-catching as other products in the launch but something you may reach for often.

It looks dull compared to other Nars lipsticks I have ( around 20 ), but as you said it’s very easy to wear. I have Dressed to Kill but I still don’t know if I’ll purchase this one.

Hi Christine,

NARS Tolede does look like a beautiful rosy shade — not as exciting as the rest of NARS 2013, but definitely more practical!

I also love your pink and yellow drop earrings — I remember seeing them in some previous posts. I’m inspired to find or make a similar pair!

I have a serious etsy addiction. If I’m not buying I’m browsing and it’s easily addicting. You can also find some amazing indie makeup shops on there. Check out Rhasdala, they’ve got some amazing products and great prices. Which reminds me, I haven’t been on etsy in a few days…. 😉

I reach for rose coloured lipsticks such as this all the time and as a result, I have a handful of similar shades including the TF mentioned as a dupe above already in my stash. In general, I’m not a fan of NARS lipsticks and find they tend to make my lips very dry. I know lots of people swear by them, but something about the formula makes my lips turn into a dry cracking mess in a very short period time. Bobbi Brown Rich Color lipsticks do the exact same thing. Perhaps it is an ingredient sensitivity.

Christine this color is very pretty on you. Do you think its similar at all to the Guerlain Spring collection lipatck #600?
Thanks,
Nedra

this might be perfect for me, i find most rose coloured lipsticks tend to look very plummy on me because of my pretty much neutral colouring, but this one might do the trick!

hey, i’m looking to order some nars lipsticks online, would this look good on medium skin tones? i’m of indian descent from the caribbean. what others might you suggest?

I thought I wanted this until I read that MAC Gem of Roses is more plum. GoR turns orangy red on me, so I guess Tolede will look even worse on me.

Your make up looks very nice and I can understand why Nars paired this lipstick with this multiple. The color reminds me of the Revlon Lip Butter in Pink Truffle, but more opaque and longer-lasting.

Gorgeous lipstick and gorgeous name, Tolede (in spanish, Toledo) the city where my mom was born 🙂 Maybe I should buy it for her birthday on May!

Oh, I love this, and I’m so drawn to shades like this. But I have one NARS lipstick and I find it really drying, so I think I’d do better to find a dupe.

Hi Christine!
How would you describe the texture? Is it supposed to be matte? Also, thanks so much for all the rapid reviews. There are so many new launches with MAC, UD, NARS, etc and you are on top of them all! You are on fire girl! 🙂 It’s REALLY helpful when trying to decide what to purchase.
Thanks!
Banafshe. 🙂

I think it’s extremely similar to dolce vita! DV is definitely sheerer and maybe a tiny bit lighter and pinker. Tolede has a bit more brown tones, but not by much. I had to put them on side by side to really see differences. If you have one of the two, I’d say you really don’t need the other 🙂

Something’s happening to me; I’m slowly gravitating to less intense colors (maybe I’ve overdosed with all the recent releases!).

Christine, how is this compared to Dolce Vita? Thank you!

Hi Christine,

Just wondering, how does this compare to MAC Mehr?
