NARS Thessalonique Duo Eyeshadow Review, Photos, Swatches
Thessalonique
NARS Thessalonique Eyeshadow Duo ($35.00 for 0.14 oz.) features a soft, pale pink with a muted mauve–both have shimmer–that work really well together for a look but can easily be incorporated with other eyeshadows you own. I like that the two shades can create a rather foolproof look as a standalone product.

Thessalonique (Left)
Thessalonique (Left) is a very light pink with subtle, warm undertones and a pearly sheen. It had nice color payoff with a soft, blendable consistency in the pan that felt more loosely packed in the pan but did not kick up a lot of excess product. The color started to fade after seven hours.

Thessalonique (Right)
Thessalonique (Right) is a muted, medium-dark mauve with warm undertones and a pearly sheen. The pigmentation was fully opaque, but it had a tendency to sheer out a little on the lid, so it was a shade that needed a primer. The consistency felt a little dry to the touch, but it blended without issue. On me, it lasted for seven hours before fading.

This is a pretty duo, won’t work on me as a 2 shadow look but I do like it. That mauve especially is so pretty!
What color would you add to make it work for you, Aj?
Not sure yet, but it would be darker than mauve for the outer corner and lashline. Probably an eggplant shade leaning a bit more brown or a deeper mauve?
I need to swatch this.
Love this ❤️
They work well together!
This is definitely coming home with me! I can see myself actually hitting pan on this one, which is no small feat considering how long NARS shadows last, and how much eyeshadow I already own.
Is this LE, or permanent? If it’s LE, I will be grabbing a backup!
It’s permanent according to the press release!
I really like these shades. Amazingly (or maybe not!), I have the #1 dupe for each, lol. But how often do I pull out my MUFE shadows and my Viseart palettes at the same time? I have to think about that, too, lol…
Well, how often would you wear this pairing? 😉
I do that a fair amount. The mufe matte (#4) always has a crease shade, for whatever look. Esp when the other palette is all shimmer. I prob will get Paris Nudes. That’d dupe #2 well, with the mufe pearl. Was also thinking about Poker Face. Clearly, I want #2 in Thessalonique. Paris Nudes confuses me a bit. When I look at the entire palette, I’m never starstruck, but when I check dupes for other shades I like, there’s frequently a Paris Nudes dupe! Think I’d better get it.
I think this is such a pretty duo. Great for easy, everyday makeup. Easily duped, though.
I totally agree, Rachel! Well-said!
Nice new pic!
Thanks!
This looks kind of boring in the pan, but it’s pretty on your lid. The color combo goes well together, better than the other duo
Yes, this one is easier to wear on its own!
Creates a pretty look.
They do!
I’m in love with these. I own Tokyo, and even though some people find it blah, I love because it is a great every day classy eye for me. Thessalonique seems to be a bit brighter shinier version – exactly what I am missing in the Tokyo duo.
Sometimes everyday is what we need! 🙂
Anna, it’s funny that we both own the Tokyo duo and both used the exact same term to describe it – “blah”.
Quite a few years ago, I bought the Tokyo duo from Nars. It’s one I rarely use because while it’s nice, it’s also pretty “blah”. This duo looks a lot similar. I’ll need to see it in store and perhaps bring my duo along for comparison. But to be honest, I found both of the new duos to be a bit of a let-down.
I’m wondering if we’ll be seeing any discontinuations from NARS – the formula on these was better than usual and felt less thin.
It seems there have been already. There are quite a few missing on the website, but it’s hard to tell; if the item is OOS, it’s omitted from the page, but shows up when restocked… I recently had a bit of difficulty tracking down Surabaya, only finding it at Nordstrom, as it seems it’s off the US site, and other retailers don’t list it.
I am in love with the darker shade of this palette, on the right. MUST. HAVE!
It is gorgeous!
Yeah, I’m probably going to pick this one up. It seems perfect for someone fair skinned!
Yay!!
These are both really pretty shades. Not very unique but lovely none the less. I wonder if the lighter shade would work as a highlighter?
I bet the lighter one might, depending on your skin tone!
I really like this color pairing! Looks great for either an easy lid wash type of look or one where one could very easily incorporate other complimentary shades for an even more detailed look. I’d likely use some of the shades from my MUFE Artist Palette 4 to bring in some mattes for my browbone and crease.
I agree, Nancy – it would work well with lots of other shades!
This little duo seems more cohesive than the last one and the shades are very pretty colours. It really suits you Christine.
The only thing about Nars is that they either have offensive names for their products or ones you can’t pronounce….
It is easier to wear on its own for sure!
This is so pretty. I may need to get it, I am a sucker for these shades.
It is a nice duo!
Can they make the name a little longer?
It’s a lovely duo!
Decisions, decisions. This def fits in with my EnTaupe inspired leanings. I depotted Tokyo from a big palette. Lots of small nars shadows in a big Z. Sometimes that isn’t the easiest way to find things. Agree with the others that Tokyo was a bit more meh than it should have been. I’d try it today, but a gray, snowy day would just obliterate it, and not show it to any advantage. There are very nice dupes to consider for #2, at least. I do really like this pairing, and think it’d look great on Erin.
Ooh, I like that mauve!
I’m not typically much of an eyeshadow girl, but this duo and Chanel’s Code Subtils are calling my name. Nothing earth-shattering as far as ultra-unique shades, but lovely colors that are very wearable and nice formulas. I think I need both and then I’ll be set on eyeshadow for the year 🙂 Beautiful look you created, Christine.
This is the duo that appealed for me as an easy, everyday wear, but the deeper color looks warmer on your eye than I would have thought. I may have to try to see this one in person.
Being Greek-American, the name makes me mad. Why change the spelling of the second largest city in Greece??? Also the colors are blah for me
