NARS Summer 2012 Collection

NARS Summer 2012 Collection

The Summer 2012 campaign was designed and photographed by NARS Founder and Creative Director François Nars. Once again, the inimitable Ginta Lapina personifies the look.

To begin, St. Moritz Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer SPF30/PA+++ was applied to the center of the face with the fingertips and blended outward, then set with Eden Loose Powder to create an immaculate complexion. To lend the skin a light bronzed look, Laguna Bronzer was dusted onto the face in the shape of a ‘3’, starting at the forehead, swept on to the cheek, and then along the jawline. The apples of the cheeks were warmed with Liberté Blush and the face further defined by softly dusting Taos Blush along the hairline.

A mixture of the silver and icy peach shades of Ramatuelle Trio Eyeshadow were brushed onto the lid and blended up into the crease. The apricot shade of the Trio was added in to the crease, with the silver shade swept along the lower lash line. The upper and lower lids were lined with Via Veneto Larger Than Life® Long-Wear Eyeliner. After curling the lashes with an eyelash curler, two coats of Larger Than Life Volumizing Mascara were brushed on to the lashes.

Finally, the lips were lined and filled with Borneo Lip Liner Pencil—blending with a finger to soften the color. Moscow Pure Matte Lipstick was applied, then topped with Risky Business Lip Gloss for shine.

Are you going to do a review on their new tinted moisturizer anytime soon? i’m excited for the eyeshadow trio, looks like a good colour combo.

I NEED MOSCOW IN MY LIFE!

but… a new Soft Touch Shadow Pencil? argh, I foresee a new F rating on here lol! shame, because the color looks beautiful, and I truly love Nars.

Blush?! New NARS Blush?! Hahaha. I’m like a dog panting over a T-Bone Steak right now, oy. Well, I guess this is likely to break my no-buy. I wonder how similar it is to Luster, and if it’s shimmery or matte.

My thoughts exactly! These shades look much more fall like than summer. I actually double checked the title to be sure I’d read it right the first time after seeing the pics.

looks like i’ll be purchasing another of the Pure Matte Lipsticks!

They are my fav formula. Vesuvio is lterally my perfect red!

The promo pics don’t even look real…they look totally computer generated; you can’t even really tell what the colors are O_o

At first I thought, summer? Nooo, too dark, but the products on the model look light, but sun kissed. Not sure I’ll buy the products, but would love to try and re-create this look with what I have on hand. Although, sigh .. I do want that eyeshadow trio 😛

I want the Marie-Galante so, so badly! That purple is calling my name. I was the sole bidder on an eBay auction for it and was going to win it at a great price when, suddenly, the seller cancelled the whole thing. I’m still crushed, 10 days later. Oh well, guess I’ll pay full price when it hits Neiman’s on May 1st.

I had a “What?” moment there, too, since I generally associate orchid flowers with their pink and white variations. When I plugged it into Google, it did give me an assigned purple hue used in fabrics…but it’s still several shades lighter than what we see here. o_0

I feel meh about the blush but I’m excited about the NARS eyeshadow trio (this is rare because for ALL past NARS launches, it’s the other way around hah). I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect “brightening” but not “puffy-eyed” peach shade for the lids!

sigh. The concept of the look is nice – I have so much makeup I know I can re-create something similar already but what disappoints me is the ridiculous amount of photo-editing. It makes me feel like “why bother” because I know I’ll never look anything like the picture nor will my makeup look as flawless.

I’ve stopped buying from companies that use this kind of marketing.

Veronica Avatar

I concur. Blatant airbrushing is really off-putting to me. Not only because it makes it clear that the product isn’t the only thing being used, but it also makes the model look like a doll. I don’t want to be a doll; I want to be a woman. 😛

Maddison Avatar

Psyched about the new blush but I can’t help but feel that it would be more Summery if it were a cream formula rather than powder.

This is a little darker than I’d expect for a summer collection, but I do love those lipsticks. I’ll be curious to see how a “transparent grape” wears.
