NARS Siam Matte Multiple Review, Photos, Swatches
NARS Siam Matte Multiple
NARS Siam Matte Multiple ($39.00 for 0.26 oz.) is described as a “warm poppy red.” It’s a bright, deep red with warm undertones and a satin-matte finish–it is very true-to-description. theBalm Cobbler (P) is similar in color but has more of a sheen. Kevyn Aucoin Fira (P) is more orange, powder. NARS Exhibit A (P, $29.00) is more orange, powder. See comparison swatches.
If subtle blush is your game and fuss-free application is your name, Siam isn’t going to be up your alley. On the other hand, if you love richly pigmented, in-your-face blushes where a mere dab of color will get you a just-flushed coloring, you’ll love Siam. Even just a dab or two blended out is still very opaque and intense–a teeny tiny bit goes a very long way. This one was less blendable than the rest, and I think part of that is just the way the color can look the more it gets fussed with, which is splotchy, so it was really important to apply very little and build up, because if I applied too much, it didn’t blend out evenly. It could only be blended so much before it seemed to set and dry down, and then it was like, “Nope! Not budging.” NARS warns, on their website, that this shade may stain, and it does stain both cheeks as well as lips. I had very slight staining on my cheeks even eight hours after removing it, so you have to love the color. On my lips, the staining only lasted for a few hours after the lip color was removed. As a blush, the color lasted for nine hours before I removed it, and as a lip color, the color was still going strong after five hours but had noticeably settled into lip lines, so I would say good wear is only for about four hours. The lingering stain on the lips helped to downplay the settling, though. It also seemed more drying than some of the other shades I tried as a lip color. Pretty on you! I didn’t get much staining using this…I wonder if maybe I just didn’t notice it. I like it on my lips a lot..but my lips tend not to dry out. So glad to see your reviews of these!
It stained a lot on my cheeks, much to my surprise!
Siam looks perfect for warm medium complexions on both cheeks and lips! I’d assume with balm under it or mixed it, it would work well on the lips.
It doesn’t mix as well with balm as a regular lipstick, but it should help.
I’ve never been attracted to NARS’ multiples before. They just seem messy and like there’s just way too much product to go through in a reasonable lifetime (and the price tag isn’t pretty either).
But THIS. Holy GOD. That is a thing of beauty!
Yes, the higher price point on Multiples made me wary of shelling out for one (because it felt like I could only get one, this was in my early blogging days), even the originals had a fair amount of product.
I think this is so gorgeous, but my NC15 skin would look so burnt if I wore it. I bet it’s just beautiful on really deep skin tones.
I can look burnt wearing this very easily, too!
I can’t get over how beautiful Siam looks and I’m not even a fan of these type of colors. It’s just so gorgeous!! I can see it working very well for woc. I can’t wait to swatch these in stores!!
Yes! It’s a great shade for deeper skin tones!
Wow! That’s some crazy pigmentation.. I actually like how this one looks on the lips. It looks great with your skin tone!
Thanks, Melinda!
Love the color but the fussy formula and staining is turning me off. Wish there was a better dupe!
I was surprised how long the stain lasted on cheeks! That I didn’t care for as much personally, though if you wear foundation, it will generally cover it right back up.
It’s such a shame that these don’t fit well as lip colours because the colours are all so lovely on the lips. Ah well! I just love how amazingly bright this one is – Deeper skin tone heaven! I’m also glad it’s not a cream dupe for Exhibit A so you don’t feel too guilty owning both hehe. I wish the brown multiples came with one shade a lot darker though so deeper skin tones could use at least one of them as a contour colour. A girl can wish ey?
I would have liked to see at least one of the brown-hued Multiples also be *cool* toned, because they run quite warm!
I agree! Cooler tones can be spring-y too!
I love this and could/would NEVER use it!! I just love the colour LOL!
It’s not one I’d reach for myself 😉
Gorgeous color!! I love how it looks on the lips! If my oily skin could cooperate with cream I’d buy it, but they don’t get along.
Have you tried layering with a little powder (blush or setting powder)?
I’m so glad this product turned out well, I’m half Thai so I was planning on buying this purely for the name 😛 I also convinced myself I needed the Pure Matte Lipstick in Bangkok because I was born there, luckily it’s turned out to be one of my favourite lipsticks!
YAY! 😀 Enjoy, Jeanne!
Oh wow. That colour… is just so. in. your. face. It looks amazing as a lip colour but I’d have to skip it as a cheek shade! The staining scares me!
I didn’t love how long it stained!
I wasn’t expecting to love this so much!!
Uh oh! 🙂
I’m so drawn to this but I know in my heart that I’d look incredibly feverish with this on.
Aww! I don’t really like it on me – never love the way reddish blushes look on me, even though they’re gorgeous on others!
This is so damn BEAUTIFUL as a blush!
Glad ya liked it!
Hmm thought this would have been better as a lipstick.
Still a no go on lips for me!
Ah what a shame! I reckon I would have the shame problem of the drying on the lips. Dont think I will be purchasing any of the multiples.
Hm… My favourite blush is cream and quite bright, and I love that a little goes a long way, but I’m not totally sure I’m on board with the staining. Then again, with such a colour on my vampire skin, I’d probably have to use so little you couldn’t see it anyway, hehe!
I still love this thing though for just being a true *rouge*:-D
😉
Yeah, I don’t love the staining effect. It is a bit much for me on the skin!
Wow, the pigmentation on these red/coral matte multiples are ridiculous. Absolutely beautiful even on the lips!
These new Multiples are super pigmented!
This is the one I got! Love the shade and it does have a tendency to stain! 🙂
Yay! Happy to hear this works well for you! 🙂
I think this will look beautiful on deeper complexions!
Agreed – it will be gorgeous on deeper skin tones!
I almost bought this because I thought It was so pretty on the model in their promotional video but I thought … WAIT!! see what Christine thinks first! Thank god I did because I’m so fair there’s no way this would work for me! Thanks for saving me $39 I can spend on something else. I rarely buy anything without checking to see if you have reviewed it anymore!
No problem, Kristi! So happy to help 🙂
Thank you for your trust!
I like your eye make up, what did you used?
